We stayed here overnight so we had a fresh start taking our grandchildren to Paultons Park. We were greeted on arrival, shown to our room and informed about times etc... The room was airy, spacious, clean and comfortable. We had a very nice meal, and enjoyed several hours in the neat and tidy beer garden. Breakfast was very nice and there's a good selection of food to suit all tastes. Throughout our stay the staff were friendly and helpful.

The only issue we had was an evacuation at 2am as the fire alarm went off, luckily just a false alarm, these things do happen and won't stop us from returning. The management were very apologetic and did offer a return visit as compensation.

The room was nice and spacious, very clean and quiet. The staff were all very friendly and helpful. The hotel restaurant meals were very nice and served by a helpful friendly team. All up, a really nice pub. Colin (Australia)

I think booking.com should be a little more careful with the photos of the room being offered. The room displayed showed, and therefore implied that the room had a sofa. Unfortunately, not all rooms had a sofa (the room allocated to us had two lounge chairs which are not as comfortable for someone nursing an aging back). This put the hotel staff in an awkward position as I was somewhat disappointed. They very kindly offered to allow me to change rooms for the second night, however, I didn't wish to make more work and bother for them. Still, top marks to them for being prepared to help rectify the situation.

The room was as advertised, very clean, spacious and we were kindly provided with two extra cot beds for our two children. The room was cleaned daily and nice refreshments and treats (especially for the children) were also provided on a daily basis. The room was very well equipped with a TV and a spacious ensuite bathroom with a large shower and the usual amenities one can expect. The Breakfast included in the room rate was also excellent, the Hotel provided a nice range of options to choose from and was quite substantial and nourishing, very well worth the price. The staff were all super friendly and always ready to help, they were also very patient and understanding with our children (who can be quite a handful sometimes). The property is also equipped with a spacious parking lot and we always found parking bays available for use. Although the Hotel has a pub downstairs (which is also a plus), we could hardly hear any noise and did not affect our sleep at all (anyway the Pub closes at 11pm sharp). All in all it was a very positive experience for us and this Hotel in fact exceeded our expectations. Will definitely be booking again with this property and it is very easy to recommend to others. Definitely worth every penny.

The food had a very good selection of fresh local produce, and plenty vegetarian options. I selected 2 starters instead of having a mains, but even 2 starters was so plenty-full that I could not finish it all. Very fresh, good quality. Breakfast had an excellent selection of freshly cooked full English, or continental. I was wiser after the evening meal and had a 'small' breakfast dish with fresh veggies and lovely bread. My companions were overwhelmed by their cooked breakfasts.

All was good, if anything, our stay was too short. We will certainly return to test some more on the menu.

Room was very nice and location great. Right near Pepper Pig world and ideally located to the New Forrest and various areas. Room was nicely done and heated well for winter. Everything was provided and staff very helpful and nice.

Breakfast and Dinner, a lot of items were missing and the Freezer had broken (maybe we were unlucky). Every time we went to order something for breakfast or dinner, something was missing.. Would have also been nice to use the good coffee machine rather than filter coffee. The Pie was great though!

It was really clean Bedding was excellent and comfy Toilet and shower were spotless Ample toiletries and towels Some staff were pleasant others really lovely Breakfast was very nice as we added it on arrival Perfect position as we were attending a wake at the same venue

Our room was the only room where no wifi was available which was very inconvenient Scaffolding outside both windows made us wonder if we would wake to workmen - we didnt Only 3 teabags offered although we asked for more and were given plenty. Way more to love about it than not to.

The Staff were really friendly and very helpful. I have to be on a gluten free diet and they went out of their way to accommodate that. Even passing the information on to other staff at the change of a shift so they were aware of it. Had two meals and breakfasts while we're there and the food was excellent.

Room was a bit noisy overnight because of kitchen extractor fans. Second night was OK as the fan was turned off after the kitchen closed. So maybe they just forgot to do that on the first night.

Nice room and nice location. Very clean and well kept. Quite easy to find and get to. Nice hot shower, no problems with Wifi, great selection of coffees / teas in room with lots of milk available. Big room with nice views.

I would have liked to have stayed in restaurant for breakfast, but didn't start until 07:30 unfortunately which was a bit late, or would have booked. Was initially worried about noise, since as they acknowledge it's an old building, however overnight was completely quiet.

Food was excellent especially the evening meals. Breakfast was great on one day, not so good on he 2nd day. The staff were very friendly and the hotel as a whole was a brilliant place for us to bring our dog. Excellent location as a base for exploring the New Forest.

Unfortunately there had been a communication breakdown (we had changed our stay dates a few days before) between Booking.com and the hotel - meaning that our room was downgraded to a standard double room in which they had to squeeze a mattress into the corner of the room for our 12 year old son to sleep on. Surprised to hear from the hotel staff that we should have contacted them (not just update the booking.com booking) direct to inform them, and also for the fact that we were charged the same amount for a room that was surely smaller than the one we had originally booked.

Great location, good food and friendly staff.

Very hot (not the fault of the pub) but the room overlooked the garden which although was lovely and quiet once the pub closed it was also over the smoking area. So having the windows open let smoke in. If it's Summer you may want to ask for a room overlooking the car park. Very doggo friendly which is a rare find!
