The room size was great. There was a settee and coffee table, loads of space, 2 large built in wardrobes, several drawers to store clothes etc and the lighting was good. The shower was very good with hot water available whenever we needed it. The hotel is situated in the centre of the town making it easy to get to local restaurants and to see the sights. There was a good choice for breakfast. The dining room is well laid out with very comfortable chairs. There is a large seating area in a courtyard setting for eating and drinking in fine weather. Whilst there isn't a car park on site, that's not a problem because car parks are very nearby and the cost from Saturday to Monday checkout was only £4. It helps that Sundays are free at the time of writing.

There was nothing to dislike during our stay

The receptionist who got us with a taxi was very kind and helpful. All the serving bar and restaurant staff were great, flexible and very helpful. Although quite short, the restaurant menu was varied, and every plate delicious, compliments to the chef. The head of housekeeping sorted a room issue promptly and gave us a complimentary drink for our trouble.

It’s a personal preference and minor issue that the coffee doesn’t provide decent coffee and the milk leaves a kind of scum behind in the tea mug. A tiny mini fridge with real milk and a cafetière would be really good but I guess not viable. It would also be good to have the BBC Iplayer app on the TV. We wanted to catch up on programs missed during dinner. I’m not a fan of background music but it wasn’t too intrusive. Five stars on all personnel made up for the minor dislikes.

The location was excellent right in the heart of Romsey with great bus and train connections. We ate in the restaurant which was nice and the food was good quality. Our room was very quaint and a little lopsided.

Our room faced the busy town which was fine during the day but lots of activity during the early hours with draymen etc., if I stayed again I would request a room out back. We also had a door between our room and bathroom which had to be locked which was strange especially if you needed the bathroom during the night. There were also works going on in the hotel which we were not told of at the time of our booking which restricted our dining experiences.

Staff were excellent, food was very good and the room, despite being a little small, was extremely cosy and surprisingly quiet. Little home touches like a nite wishing you a pleasent stay and high quality body wash, shampoo and conditioner were great additions to their modern bathroom with a towel heater for a comfortable stay!

The room was a bit snug because of the bed, and trying to unpack a suitcase turned out to be a little bit more trouble than I had anticipated. Also, it seemed like the curtains had been screwed into the wall but left just a little slither of light come through in the morning. Very minor issues.

Location is lovely in the centre of Historic Romsey ...Parking bit of a problem none at the Hotel as it is so central which is understandable but it would be an idea to let guests know before arriving and perhaps make arraignments with the local car parking which not far away.

Bathroom needed better clean ....... Not many choices on the Sunday Menu and as I dont eat meat the veggie roast option or chicken was finished, other options were all red meat or salad ...ended up having a mis mash of the Hake from the fish and chips with roast vegetables??....

We liked everything about our stay. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room, though small, was very comfortable and clean, ideal for a short stay. Breakfast was superb, faultless and served beautifully. The decor and design is traditional and very welcoming, right in the heart of Romsey, which is a lovely little bustling town, with everything you need within walking distance. The highlight of our stay was dinner in the hotel restaurant. The three course meal we ate was probably the finest we have ever had in a restaurant ever. - absolutely delicious. We've certainly never had better, and we are real foodies. I would thoroughly recommended the White Horse Hotel.

Nothing. Everything was exceptional.

Beautifully furnished hotel and very comfortable. We liked the booklet in our room, detailing the origins and history of this old coaching inn. Very friendly staff and my wife was given a free birthday dinner, which we weren't expecting.

Maybe make the Go Green door tag less ambiguous. We put it on the door when we went out for the day, to indicate that we didn't require clean towels and sheets, but they interpreted this as meaning that we didn't want the room tidied or the bed made at all. But they did rectify this later.

There were lots of personal touches which were appreciated. The member of staff on reception was really welcoming and we were made to feel like nothing would be too much trouble. The room was comfortable and clean. The accommodation was centrally located and easy to find. Meals were good value and very enjoyable. Nespresso machine in the room was appreciated also. Great value stay.

The internal hotel noise heard in our room I. E. Doors closing etc was quite loud. Understandable in such an old building but our sleep was disrupted a little.

The location is great, right in the main square, about a 12-14 minute walk from the station. The bed and pillows were comfortable, the shower was amazing, the room was extremely clean and pretty. The staff were very friendly and extremely helpful. The room was a little small, but enough for only two nights. Overall we were really happy with our choice of hotel and we would recommend it to anyone. Also, there is a courtyard outside and tables and chairs where you can sit and have a drink, and they have live musicians singing/playing which was lovely. (We stayed in August)

Air con would have been nice, but there was a fan, which we used at night.

Excellent breakfast, loads of choice with food and drinks. Service from the staff was very quick and efficient. The staff in general went out of their way to be incredibly helpful, polite and knowledgeable. The team looking after the room cleaning were absolutely fantastic and kept the room spotless . Reception staff were so helpful.

Please could we have some music playing in the background as a routine when having breakfast. This creates a much more relaxed and pleasant atmosphere. As it was I had to ask for music to be put oh each day.
