James and Becky were amazing! So hospitable, kind, friendly, accommodating. Our rental car broke down on the hill in front of the Inn on the morning we were suppose to leave. We ended up staying an extra night, waiting 24 hours for the breakdown company. It could have been a very negative experience, but all was well because of where it happened and how helpful James and Becky were. Their breakfast is lovely, rooms are clean and comfortable, restaurant well priced. All in all a lovely stay. Thank you both. We appreciate your hard work and hospitable hearts.

The only thing that can be a challenge when you come with a little car, is the beautiful hills.

A great stay at the Rockford Inn - James and the other staff members were very welcoming, the room was warm & comfortable and the location beautiful. The breakfast was great, as was the roast dinner! We would stay again if in the area, and would recommend to others looking for somewhere to stay while exploring Exmoor. Rockford is very small but it's only a short drive to find other places to eat & drink, visit etc. It's also a stunning walk down to Lynmouth via Watersmeet.

Only small thing we noticed was that one light bulb was out and the extractor fan didn't seem to do much. Really not a problem as we were out all day every day, but we would probably have raised this if we intended to spend more time on site. Parking is limited so big groups should definitely car-share!

The view and location were fantastic. The rooms were spotless. The shower was great, the staff were very pleasant. The bar was well stocked. Breakfast was good but limited. Some outside seating beside the river which was lovely. There are plenty of nice places to visit a short distance away, and good walks from right outside the pub. Lots to love about the place.

The pub was closed between 3 and 6 which was odd as they offered a cream tea but I don’t see how you could have it if the pub is closed at tea time. Evening meals were average though we only ate there twice so we can’t judge the whole menu.

The Inn was located in the most wonderful place, hidden out the way with no phone signal, the river opposite was stunning. The food was amazing, best roast I've had in a long time, lots of attractions were close by, and the staff could not have been lovelier!

I can't really think of anything, the only thing that would of been helpful was having the WiFi code written in the welcome pack in the room.

Warm welcome. The location is beautiful with the River Lyn literally across the road. The room was spotless, towels and bed linen were fresh. Radiators in the room and bathroom or the option to open the windows whatever is your temperature preference. Tea and coffee facilities with limitless supplies. Food is hearty, varied and suits all tastes. The quality is so good and the service times are rapid. Everything arrived piping hot, on hot plates and in very good time. Breakfast is equally good with an extensive choice of cereals, juices and a great variety of cooked options. Every member of staff was friendly and efficient without being 'in your face' If you are looking for a modern, chic boutique stay then this is not for you. If you want comfort, a warm welcome, great food, a nice selection of ales (if that's your thing, I enjoyed a few very well-poured Guinness myself), clean rooms and a great location, book now.

The Bar area is dog-friendly with plenty of walkers dropping in during the day with various hounds in tow, all were very considerate and made sure their dogs were well-behaved and not intrusive. Not a negative really for us, but if you are not a 'dog person' then you might want to take it into consideration

The staff were incredibly friendly and welcoming, which made for a great first impression. The location was amazing and scenic. The room was spacious, spotless, and had excellent Wi-Fi, even across the road out on the terrace. The bed and mattress were very comfortable, ensuring a good night’s sleep. Both breakfast and dinner were generous and absolutely delicious—definitely worth mentioning.

We enjoyed the location of the Inn due to remoteness and location for beautiful walks in the countryside. Local routes that are easy to follow for both beginners and advanced walkers. Lovely outdoor views from the countryside to waterfalls. Paul and Steller were amazing hosts and catered to our needs, including slight changes to food requests.

Due to the remoteness of the area, there is no local shops. Bed was not the most comfy and was a little sore the following mornings. No bottles of water in the room, also TV was tiny! Though it was practical with a free view box.

Cracking place to stay. Hosts were lovely, the location is just gorgeous, and food & drink were great. Breakfast is such a bonus and so tasty. Would highly recommend walking from Rockford > Watersmeet > Lynmouth > Countisbury > Rockford, using the path just across from the inn and the wooden signs to keep you right! Hopefully will be back in the not-too-distant future!

A lovely peaceful setting for our break. Very good breakfast. High quality and plenty of choice. Good service too. Sensible breakfast times. We chose to eat at the rockford one evening. Tasty fish and chip meal.. Good choice of local ales available at the bar. A prime position gor super walks from the Rockford. No need to be driving every day. Nice to have a break from the car.

Poor TV signal. But. Not a real concern for us.

This place is in the middle of nature on a small road and we couldn't ask for more. The room was the perfect size, the bed an shower were great. The best part, however, was the people and the food. The pub was very active every night. The taps were stocked with local brews. The patrons were friendly, and the food was top-notch! Best of all, Paul, our host, was friendly, outgoing, and gave us very helpful guidance. I wish we would have stayed longer. It's close to numerous walking trails, a beautiful river, a short drive to Porlock & Porlock Weir, and an absolutely beautiful 2 hour drive from Tintagel.

I'll say the same thing I said for another place much like this in Scotland: if you're looking for someplace close to a city or historic site, this isn't for you (though stopping by for the surroundings, the food, and the pub definitely is!).
