Airport Tower Lodge is gated and in a secure residential area close to a public park which had numerous Sunday picknickers. In the daytime you can see planes coming in for a landing, but the noise is not excessive. Staying at Airport Tower Lodge is like staying at a huge Spanish Hacienda- as a matter of fact, before it became a lodge, it was a private residence. The ambiance is amazing! Nicolene made us feel so welcome that we regretted staying only two nights. When she saw that we had lots of luggage, she upgraded us to a ground-floor room so we did not have to climb the stairs to our booked Tower Room. I highly recommend the Continental Breakfast which was way beyond our expectations. For dinner, the tasty Asian Stir Fry can be split between two people and even then, you may have trouble finishing the big portion. The lodge arranges shuttle transfer to and from the JNB airport with a local taxi service for 250 Rand each way. The Honesty Bar operates on an honor system- you just write down what you consumed. Coffee and tea are free all day. We'll stay there again if we are ever back in Johannesburg.

The swimming pool had a lot of algae, but since this was the winter season, I did not expect to use the swimming pool. With the proprietor Nicolene having recently lost her husband, keeping up with pool maintenance is probably a challenge. This is not the Lodge's fault, but I wish more people would book this undiscovered gem. There was only one young couple there as guests during our stay which made us feel a bit lonely. There are no walk-ins allowed for security reasons. I hope good ratings on Booking.com increase the lodge's popularity.

Nice little hotel close to the airport, perfect for a one-night stay if you have a long layover. Staff were really friendly and polite. It’s right next to a lake and a park, so the view is also great. We were on our honeymoon and staff had decorated our room, which was really cool! Thank you!

Some of the furniture looked a bit worn out and needing replacing. There were quite a few steep stairs to get from the door of the room to the room itself and then more stairs to get to the bathroom, which was on the second level. So the room interior was interesting but a bit inconvenient when you had to go to the bathroom at night.

Honestly, the best hotel we’ve been to, and we have travelled a lot! The staff is super sweet and friendly and will assist you with anything you need. We even got a ride to the mall and the airport! On our last day we were even offered one room to rest before our flight (no extra charge)! The breakfast and dinner was always fantastic and there is a great variety of vegetarian dishes. The rooms and the garden look magical and you will immediately feel at home! Keep up the amazing work!!

The style and upkeep of the place was outstanding, the small details like a simple thing like a mosquito pad really is well thought out especially because you right by the lake. Only thing I would change is the coffee in the room I'd you had maybe those small longlife milks instead on powered milk but everything else was absolutely amazing and we truly loved the stay. Staff very friendly and very helpful. Place is clean , rooms well maintained

Second time booking this accommodation when travelling. It’s convenient and close to the airport. The owner is really friendly and goes above and beyond to help and sort things out. I liked the fact that there was a shuttle available to book to and from the airport. Great all in all. We will book it again.

Nicolene is an EXCELLENT host. She is so friendly, welcoming and did everything in her ability to help make us comfortable. She is a qualified chef and makes the BEST Pizza and Lasagne! Nicolene has the perfect personality to be a host, as she went above and beyond and even made us her speciality dessert on our first night's stay - Malva Melktert. There are two point plugs supplied in the rooms, so no need to bring your own, which is amazing. There are also hairdryers included in the rooms, which is a huge bonus. There is body wash in the bathroom, and coffee stations all over the property, which allows you to make a good cup of coffee whenever you need one. The bar area is also nothing like we've ever seen - the vibe makes you feel like you are in another country and era (midevil). We have already booked our next stay with her, as we travel regularly. This property is also closely situated to the airport, which makes it ideal for travel. They also offer a shuttle service to and from the airport.

The only things that could improve slightly are the following: The mattress in the honeymoon suite is slightly hard and a little uncomfortable, as they are two separate mattresses next to one another. It would have been great if the TV in the rooms had Netflix loaded on it, so that we could login on our Netflix account and watch our shows. These days there is not much to watch on DSTV. The last thing that would be a great bonus is a small fridge in the rooms.

Stayed there before and loved it generally. Yesterday I booked for my elderly mother last minute and Staff name Mbali handled my desperate situation with so much compassion and professionalism. She made sure my mother was safe and even called back to confirm she had checked ✅ in. That for me shows how much she cares for people. Thank you Mbali for your help and my mother loved it.

Property is unique and nice looking. Rooms were comfortable. Staff were friendly and accommodating.

Location is close to airport so good for a stop over but not much else around. Some disrepair but doesnt overshadow the positives. They need to update a few prices etc. on their menu, and i believe it still says free airport shuttle on Booking. com and the shuttle is actually 200 Rand.

I booked this hotel for my son, who is a Marine. He had an overnight layover on his way back to his duty assignment. They picked him up from the airport and brought him back in the morning free of charge. As a mother, even though my Marine is very capable of taking care of himself, it was such a comfort knowing that there was someone there to see that he made it to and from the airport without any complications. The staff was very friendly and treated him well. He doesn't ever get too excited about anything, but he was very impressed with the hotel, staff, and location. It was the most I've ever heard him say about a hotel. Thank you for your wonderful hospitality.
