Great transit hotel, fine for a night or a few nights. Convenient free bus transfer from bus transfer station inside the airport. The Bus station is well signposted and there are poster for the shuttle minibus. This ran every 30 mins and took less than 10 mins. Hotel was clean, good restaurant and breakfast. Very helpful staff, who were eager to please. There's a gym if you are keen to exercise and a swimming pool to cool down. The outdoor space backs onto a dual carriage way and the airport - OK for a day or two. I was pleased with our choice - worked well as a transfer.

Perfect Stopover – Comfortable, Convenient, and Great Service! ✈️🌟 We stayed at the Protea Hotel Johannesburg Airport for an overnight layover, and it couldn’t have been more convenient or comfortable. The location is ideal, just a short 5-minute drive from the airport, and the free shuttle service runs frequently and smoothly both to and from the terminals – a huge bonus when traveling. Although the pool was under refurbishment during our stay, it didn’t take away from the overall experience. The hotel itself was lovely, with stylish decor and well-thought-out furnishings that made everything feel fresh, modern, and welcoming. Our room was clean, quiet, and very comfortable – just what we needed after a long flight. The restaurant served delicious food, with a great variety on the menu and friendly, attentive service throughout. This hotel is a perfect choice for anyone needing a stress-free, quality overnight stay near the airport. We’d absolutely stay here again and look forward to seeing the finished pool on our next visit!

For some reason the wifi was very inconsistent during our stay. I was unfortunately having challenges with my own mobile service which was frustrating. The staff did try to help

Wow! If I could give 6 stars I would. From the minute the friendly driver picked me up to when I was welcomed at the front desk, sorted with an early book in, served room service, went to the gym, to delicious breakfast and more I was met with flawless, fantastic, kind and genuine service. The food is incredible, everything is clean and well kept.The staff are absolutely wonderful and add so much to such a stunning and well run hotel. I've already started suggesting this stay to my friends.

There was some minor cleaning misses around base of toilet, around base of shower etc but really minimal complaints.

This was our second stay during our holiday break, and once again, it was a fantastic experience. The staff were exceptional – friendly, professional, and always willing to go the extra mile. The rooms are well-appointed and comfortable. I was happy to see that the TV channel setup issue we experienced on our previous visit had been improved. Our friends did mention that their TV channels were still not set correctly, so there may be a bit of inconsistency there. A special mention to the Food & Beverage Manager, Ms. Telang Pitso – such a kind-hearted individual. Thank you for your warm assistance on arrival. It really set the tone for a wonderful stay. Dinner was another highlight – the food was outstanding, beautifully presented, and the service was excellent. Compliments to the dinner team for a memorable evening. We also truly appreciated the early check-in on the day of arrival – it made such a difference after a long journey. Overall, another excellent stay. Thank you to the entire team for your hospitality. We will definitely be back again!

TV channels to be set correctly across the board

The hotel is close to the airport and has an easily accessible shuttle. The shuttle is available 24 hours which makes it very convenient for folks who are arriving late or leaving early. The bed is comfortable and the amenities are what you would expect.

It would be nice if there was like a "packed breakfast" option for people who leave before the breakfast time starts. But that is a small matter. The hotel and room met my expectations.

My mom and I stayed at this beautiful hotel for one night prior to our overseas flight. The proximity to the airport was the reason for choosing this hotel, however, this hotel is suitable for longer stays as the rooms are so comfortable. The staff were amazing. From the moment that we checked in, we had superb service. We had dinner at the restaurant and the food was not only amazing but in such generous portions that we could not finish our meal. The shuttle bus to and from the airport was a bonus! We will definitely choose this hotel again should we need to be close to the airport.

The complimentary shuttle service was efficient and convenient, getting me from the airport to the hotel in just a few minutes. The hotel has a pleasant airport hanger ambiance, making it perfect for transit or short stays. My room was cosy, clean, and had everything I needed for a comfortable night. The staff were exceptionally friendly and welcoming, which made the experience even better. Would definitely stay again for future layovers.

The staff was very friendly and helpful and did an amazing job with assisting us with our luggage. The buffet breakfast was the highlight of our stay! This was absolutely amazing and once again the staff were very helpful at breakfast. The shuttle pick up from the airport and drop off was so comfortable and easy to locate. The staff and the night and morning bus was very friendly and helpful!

Our shower in our room was not clean at all. The shower glass was filthy. The drain was also blocked so the water kept building up in the shower.

Everything was beautiful and we'll kept and clean. Food was really good and the service staff always had a smile. Location is close to OR Tambo airport. Shuttle service was an experience and overall I would stay over again.

Unfortunately being so close to the highway and the planes, the hotel can do with a bit of better soundproofing as we did come from a place that was dead quiet. But overall that is something I trust is difficult to change due to location. My wife was forced to wear shoes at the dinning area which is understandable. But the way it needs to be directed could be asked a bit less like someone is going to die if she doesn't wear shoes. But overall that was our preference. It's a beautiful hotel and it's a definite spot to stay if you are passing through.

I really enjoyed my stay. The shuttle service was extremely convenient, running every half an hour from and to the airport during the day (can be arranged as needed after hours as well). The room was clean, well equipped and very comfortable. I ordered room service for dinner, very easy to order, fast service and a lovely meal. My room was quiet and dark with the curtains closed, and I had a fantastic sleep! All staff were exceptionally friendly, professional and helpful. The price was fantastic compared to other hotels near the airport. I will definitely stay here again in the future when travelling through Joburg.
