It was my first time visiting the area, and I arrived a bit early—before the official check-in time. The staff couldn't have been more welcoming. They kindly offered to store my luggage at the front desk while exploring the castle. Breakfast was absolutely wonderful. They even made me fresh coffee—twice!—and, with no hesitation, prepared a last-minute bowl of soup for my son who was not feeling well, completely free of charge. That thoughtful gesture meant a lot. The room itself was spotless and well-maintained. Housekeeping visited daily, always courteous and respectful, ensuring everything stayed perfectly clean and comfortable. The best part was the view. From my balcony, I had an uninterrupted, breathtaking panorama of the Alps. It was like waking up in a postcard every morning. Without a doubt, I’ll be returning. This place made my trip unforgettable.

Outstanding attention to detail. Breathtaking location, view of the King Ludwig's fairytale castle. Wonderfully peaceful evening with the most comfortable beds. Lovely breakfast too! Each morning, free fresh water left in our adjoining rooms, little touches as this & plus daily room service made our holiday so memorable.

It would have been handy to have known about the complementary shuttle bus & trains, before leaving. We were given free local transport passes on check out, but as mentioned on arrival could be useful, especially for families on a budget. Fussen the local town, only 5/10 minutes by bus, but an hour on foot, is in my opinion still worth a visit, if you've time during your holiday.

Convenient to castles and town. If you're active everything is walking distance. Clocked 16 miles one day during our stay walking to Nueschwanstien, Marienbrücke, and the treetop trail to Austria.

There is a city tax that needs paid at the end that caught us by surprise (everything was packed up so had to drop our rucksack and get our card out). The servers were great the first night as we struggled through our German adding sign language and pointing to menus, the second night the waiter was not as kind and took it upon himself to bring out what we ordered and something else that sounded like it (their menu says solo kugel for ice cream which we ordered in straticella flavor, he brought us a Hugo which was a spritzer) he was then very aggressive about being tipped which we haven't encountered anywhere else in our 20 day European adventure.

Beautiful, traditional updated hotel with lovely decor and extra touches to decoration of room to make it feel magical. We had a room with a balcony looking up to Neuschwanstein Castle- couldn't take my eyes off it. Stunning! Spotlessly clean, friendly staff, good breakfast, very comfortable bed and hotel perfectly located in the village of Hohenschwangau - walking distance to both castles. Excellent meals in restaurant. Parking in car park opposite hotel for extra price. Gift shop attached to hotel. We would love to stay again.

Would be perfect if a kettle with tea and coffee making was available in rooms - missed having this.

My stay at Hotel Alpenstuben was an exceptional experience from start to finish. The location is simply unbeatable—nestled right in Hohenschwangau, the hotel offers breathtaking views of both Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau castles, which we could admire directly from our room. Waking up to such a stunning panorama was a highlight of our trip. The staff at Alpenstuben were incredibly professional and welcoming, always ready to assist with a smile. Their friendly demeanor made us feel right at home, and they were more than helpful with local tips and recommendations. Breakfast was a real treat, offering a wide variety of fresh, delicious options that catered to different tastes. The attention to detail and overall hospitality throughout our stay were top-notch, making the whole experience feel very personalized. If you're looking for a charming stay in the heart of Bavaria with exceptional service and stunning views, Hotel Alpenstuben is the perfect choice. Highly recommended!

Location was excellent. Breakfast was amazing, really good tasting and premium options such as soft pretzels and tasty hot chocolate. Parking was simple and convenient. Enjoyed the room's small balcony. Had the most delicious cooked cabbage at dinner in the on-site restaurant.

We arrived early and spoke to reception about using the on-site parking so we could set up castle tour. The person should have offered me the guest card on the spot (my reservation was already paid in full) so I could enjoy a cost savings on my tickets and get some value for my city tax. Wish there was an elevator to get the luggage up 2 flights of stairs.

We loved already being right next to both castles and the Alpseen lake. With daylight hours up until 10pm ( in mid May), we had the freedom to walk around to see everything before or/and after all the tourists arrived by car or bus. Our hotel also gave us a local bus pass for our entire trip duration and provided the bus schedule so we could go to nearby Fussen town as much as we liked - and the local buses are very reliable. All the staff at this hotel were also very nice - not in fake way for travelers but in a down to earth, genuine way.

One disadvantage of staying right in the heart of this tourist spot (pro is that you are right there to walk around to either caste or the lake whenever you want) - is that there was no opportunity to buy water or soda or a coffee anywhere nearby after 5pm (when the few local shops closed) so these could only be bought through the hotel and a higher price. No fridges or coffee makers in the room either even though 'tea/coffee maker' was listed in the booking for the room we picked - it was not provided

The hotel is very nice, close to both castles. Room is clean, comfortable and nice. Cleaned and organized each day. Breakfast is delicious! We tried restaurant for dinner, it was mediocre. Beergarten was better. Staff is kind. The main traffic ends around 6-7 pm, till around 7 am it was relatively calm.

In Ludwigs Strübl, in front of the hotel, a man started to use the leafblower every morning around 7. It was annoyingly loud. We would recommend to use broom instead. It is on the main road, so traffic starts shortly before 8 am.

My family and I had a wonderful stay. Clean, comfortable, well-located. Everything we could ask for in a hotel. We enjoyed their restaurant as well and ate there probably most of the time- when we were not snacking on hikes. It is difficult to assess places to stay without being at the location in the moment, but having stayed there, I think we definitely made the right choice. We came by bus/train, but they do have parking options. The front desk was also kind enough to hold our backpacks for us as we arrived before check-in and departed after checkout. Thank you!

That we did not plan for a longer stay!

Our stay was very enjoyable. We arrived during an off season time but our experience couldn't be better. Parking was easy to attain across the street and after check in we were given a parking pass for the dashboard of the car. The room accommodations were spacious for what we needed (family room with bathroom). There were two private bedrooms and a small walkway to connect with bathrooms. Breakfast offered a nice selection of hot and cold options. The staff were incredibly friendly and offered good suggestions for sights to see. We also took an evening meal in the restaurant and were given good food and wine/beer pairings. Overall we were very happy and I look forward to our next stay.

The rooms got cooler in the evening even with the heat all the way up. With the warmth of the blankets it didn't detract from the quality of the room but would have been better to be slightly warmer.
