Clean, fresh up to date rooms, pity about all the scaffolding around the building and the fish factory outlook. Breakfast was very good, perfect scrambled eggs, poached and fries eggs cooked on the pass, everything cooked in small batches so all very fresh but sometimes had to wait a minute or two.

The coffee in the lounge was really poor, very weak, undrinkable actually, asked for another, they increased the shots to three, still only just drinkable. I do feel this was a machine error but the young lady serving was unable to work that out and just kept persevering.I have never had to increase shots or complain about coffee anywhere before, some better than oothersbut never undrinkable.

I was sceptical about booking as I tend to only book 5* hotels due to travelling alone as a single parent. I was impressed from the moment I arrived. The staff were super helpful. The hotel cleanliness was immaculate in every aspect. The food was amazing! Children were entitled to ‘the kids club’ which consisted of free breakfast, dinner, drinks and ice-cream which I thought was fantastic especially with the current cost of living. My daughter really enjoyed her meal and said it was the best fish and chips she had ever had. The pool was clean and so warm, it felt like a spa treat! The changing facilities consisted of a sauna which again was lovely. I thought the check out time being 11am was brilliant as it meant we could really enjoy the breakfast which again was superb and also had time for another swim before check out. The hotel location was perfect as we had planned to use the tarka trail and the hotel was located on the foot of this. We spent our time in the area exploring the north Devon coast. I have already recommended the hotel to friends and family and will certainly be returning!

This was a return visit for us, we stayed with you last year and enjoyed the facilities, food and found all the staff so friendly and helpful that we came back. We were not disappointed The hotel is in a quiet spot but allows access to visit other local spots of interest. Waking distance to Barnstaple itself. Rooms are clean beds comfy. Food is delicious and menu varied lots of lovely meals. Daily special delicious variety. Breakfast is excellent.

Last time we visited our room had a safety deposit box which was secure for leaving things when we were out or using the pool gym etc. When we asked about it we were told our room didn't have one. Yet on Booking.com website it said there would be one. The wardrobe in the room looked like it had had one in it. I think all hotel rooms should offer this facility. Especilally if it is advertised as available.

The hotel takes your card details. By that, i mean they take a card and log the number/expiry date and security code. I understand this is so they can charge the card if you damage the room, but i don't like to give that information to anybody.... This happened to me at a completely different hotel, and within 5 days, there was an attempt to spend a large amount on my card.. I'm not saying this would happen here as I'm sure it wouldn't, but i don't like anyone taking details off my card.

The room was beautifully clean, linen on the beds fantastic and the bathroom brilliant too. I was practical and clean, comfortable and family friendly. The pool and games room were perfect for the children and myself on our mini break with generous opening hours. The staff couldn't have been any more approachable, friendly, attentive or wonderful if they had tried. Every member of staff we met from the health club, the restaurant or housekeeping were truly lovely.

Sadly a small amount of guests were a little rude/noisy during breakfast and occasionally by the pool which made us feel a little uncomfortable but this is in no way the hotel's responsibility.

Lovely large room with comfortable bed and bathroom. Fab pool inside and out. Great free parking, nice reception staff and staff responded quickly to calls and messages via booking.com Accommodated our cot request Loved the air con and fan! And staff were quick to provide an iron and extra coffee

One member of the pool reception staff were quite rude. Some building works took place outside our room without notice, however it was a Monday and past 9am

Firstly, what a beautiful hotel. Decor was lovely. We checked in with a lovely receptionist that was very informative about the hotel and facilities it had to offer as we hadn’t visited this hotel before. We spent the afternoon on the sun loungers in the outdoor pool. Luckily the weather was beautiful! It was slightly loud due to children in the pool but it was lovely to see the little ones enjoying the weather and having fun so this wasn’t an issue for us. Our initial reaction to our hotel room was lovely. Very spacious and a very confortable bed… we both slept very well! We dined in the restaurant that evening and food was delicious. The stay was for my birthday and it fully exceeded my expectations and we have a lovely time and will certainly visit again. It’s also very close to the shopping centre which we did visit before checking in. Great location, facilities, staff and food. Thank you and hope to see you again.

The room was so much better than we were expecting. Spacious and clean with a nice comfortable bed and excellent shower. The staff were really friendly and efficient. The pool was really nice, and on a warmer morning the outdoor pool would also have been nice (it was too cold for us to handle). It is quick and easy to pop into Barnstaple and there was plenty of parking spaces outside.

It exceeded our expectations. It looks much better than the photos on its advert suggest, and for the price we paid it felt like a bargain. Didn't try the breakfast as there was a Greggs around the corner and it was easy enough to get to the town centre so can't comment on this

The pools were lovely, and my daughter went every day. The room was comfortable, and we were situated at the back of the hotel. Unfortunately, we did hear the workman working on a broken panel for two mornings. The breakfast had a great variety of food; we were spoiled for choice, and we ate an evening dinner that was also nice.

The only thing would be to have more activities for the kids.

The indoor pool. Good buffet breakfast plus selection of chef's / daily specials. Quiet. Even though we were advised there was a rock n roll music weekend on, it certainly wasn't 'disturbing the peace'.

Bar prices for drinks were a little steep. Gym / Pool changing rooms did'nt have any shower gel / shampoo dispensers in there. Courtesy tubs of shampoo / shower gel provided in bedrooms were a little sparse. TV was knackered in our bedroom, the colours were shot! Mattress in bedroom, (#7), was a bit too soft for my usual liking.
