Exceptional location on the very special main street of this stunning village. The room and bed were super comfortable and the breakfast was excellent.
On arrival the staff seemed to have no idea about our booking. Communication beforehand had been non existant and none of my questions had been answered. When we were finally allocated our room we found there was scaffolding outside and workmen were literally working outside our room, making a lot of noise. Nobody had prewarned us about this. The lighting in our room was unsatisfactory. No main light and a reading light only on one side of the bed. This light was not very bright, so reading in bed was not really possible. A big disappointment.

A perfect stay over whilst on our way to Cornwall, this part of north Devon is just beautiful. If you have never been to Clovelly, plan and visit, enjoy the history and drama of this stunning little fishing village. We stayed over mid week and the village was so peaceful, we were the only two people in the harbour area at one point - amazing! Full english was perfect!
Scaffolding was up around the New Inn and the workers started taking it down at 0715 in the morning and it's not a quiet job. It is a working village so we understand and it did not detract from our stay - just a general point, there will be works ongoing throughout the year due to the upkeep of the place - you sometimes can't have it all - the place is still 10/10.

Position of the hotel, nice sized bathroom, staff were great and food was good. Was able to have the windows open to cool the room. Decent shower.
I was there to take photos, everybody does the New Inn Hotel sign looking down as the iconic shot. Unfortunately it was covered in scaffolding. That's what happens when you try to avoid the Summer holiday rush! Lol. I should point out that the New Inn Hotel is an old building for those of you that don't know or haven't looked into it. I obviously knew, having been there before. My review is based on that. A new hotel with all mod cons it is not. So be aware. For the money it is great. We wanted for nothing.

Clovelly is an amazing traditional village bursting with history and culture. The new inn is a great budget option for visiting Clovelly. It’s in a great location for venturing around and the staff are very accommodating and friendly.
We had dinner at the harbour restaurant at the bottom of the village and decided at about 9:30/10 we were going stroll back up to the hotel and have a night cap before turning in and were told they’d already called last orders and closed the bar, which was a little disappointing. The bed wasn’t the most comfortable in our room, it could maybe do with a mattress topper. The property uses a water storage system which meant unfortunately we couldn’t have hot showers in the morning.

Beautiful quaint village setting staying in the village is a great experience Getting to walkabout when it's closed, no crowds, meeting the locals was good finding out about fishing and living in the village. Hotel is full of history and interesting furniture and pieces. Food was excellent freshly cooked on ordering breakfast. Dinner offering local food and fresh fish. Staff friendly, laid-back village vibes ☺️ Local cheese and biscuits good recommendation Tearoom in the village is absolutely perfect cream tea delicious with amazing views. Definitely visit the village again If you visit wear sensible shoes and be able bodied as cobble street all the way.
Scaffolding surrounded the hotel and other homes would have been nice to be warned before arriving but needs to be done. Showerhead support broke and balcony door handle came off in my hand both reported. Maybe a 'steady' repair one day😉 Basic room, only a net curtain on the balcony door so awake early. Balcony needs some attention. Accommodation is overpriced especially when we are told at checkout breakfast was extra!! But the experience of the village, traditional looks and services made the visit worthwhile

Lovely old, authentic guesthouse/hotel and pub in the unique private village of Clovelly on the North Devon coast in southwest England, UK. A large building on several levels, with a pub/bar, where evening meals are available for a price downstairs and rooms on the upper floors. Breakfast is served on the ground floor. Very friendly and helpful staff who made our one-night stay so welcoming and comfortable. They helped us back to the top of the steep and cobbled High Street to the bus stop the following morning. Our cosy double en-sute room was delightful, comfy bed with lots of bedding and pillows. small table on each side of bed. Thick carpet under foot. Free WiFi in room, free bath and hand towels. Tea/coffee in room with kettle and milk/sugar, plus 2 drinking glasses. Small bathroom with toilet, sink and shower. Desk with one char. One armchair. Large windows with views of the village. Very cosy guesthouse, would visit and stay again. Stone cottages all over the unique village. Cobbles not easy to walk on and the street is extremely steep. No vehicles can go up/down street. Car park by visitor centre at top of village. Public bus from Barnstaple every 2 hours or so. No buses on Sundays.
Lots of steps/stairs in guesthouse, steps down to the bar/restaurant. Steps up to the bedrooms. No lift/elevator. Very poor phone signal throughout the village.

Its location
The hygiene was terrible. We had are evening meal in the pub restaurant but we were also joined by the pubs cat Elton he was aloud to sit on the restaurant tables (nobody sat at them )some people were feeding him with cutlery. At break fast cakes and butter were left uncovered with flies landing on the food. The tables were dirty the cups and cutlery would stick to the table we had to laugh faulty towers spring to mind. I would say the room was ok but never worth what we paid for one evening £145

It was casual, fun, bed very comfortable, staff kind, generous, room super clean and simple. All perfect. Maybe bring your own coffee maker and fresh milk for the morning if you (like me) are desperate for a good coffee first thing. The town is not at all commercial so good to pack accordingly. 😉
Nothing not to like. Felt strong after climbing that cobbled street! Locals use a sledge. Maybe pack a sheet of cardboard or one of those huge builders sacks so you can slide your luggage after you down the steep hill.

Breakfast was a full English breakfast which consisted of a continental followed by a choice from the cooked menu or the hot choice of the day
We were unaware that the Inn was doing repairs to the balcony , this completely obscured the view. After we booked, We were told that there was no longer a seaview room available, but not that the room was the same, and that the.scaffolding was why the view was no longer there. To only discover this when we turned into the street was a disappointing way to start our stay.

Absolutely amazing staff. Nothing was too much trouble .In all my years of travelling I have yet to come across a more home from home feeling. Gina's breakfast and scones are to die for, and Christian's and Manuella's food on a night time was amazing. Compliments to all the other staff too - Charlotte, Amazon, Zoe and anyone else I have missed.
The owner of the Village needs to upgrade the showers, and help the staff by upgrading the kitchen, then it will be a perfect retreat
