Attentive staff, very dog friendly, good food, excellent beer garden and grounds. Clean room, lovely rainfall shower. Nice out of town location, great spot to explore from.

Room was very hot when we arrived and stayed warm through the night - fan provided and it had been a warm day but perhaps the window could have been opened and the blind down to try to shade it? Bit of noise was expected as near the main road a d there was kitchen fan noise until it went off in the evening until the breakfast crew arrived. Creaky floorboard right outside our door (room 12) which woke me everytime someone walked by.

Breakfast,lunch and dinner were all excellent. Service was great and the staff were efficient and attentive.If you have a healthy appetite you will not be disappointed. The Hoops Inn Eton Mess was truly superb and the portion size was remarkable. Easy to find and ample parking.

Prefer a walk-in shower but having navigated the side of the bath the shower was efficient. All other amenities were excellent. Great cleanliness throughout.

The building itself, all the old features. Great gardens. The location. Lovely walk to Peppercombe beach. Clean room. Good en suite facilities. Complimentary toiletries. Good storage. All staff were extremely friendly, welcoming and helpful. Excellent food. We had breakfast and 2 evening meals. Beautifully presented. Nothing to fault.

The reception staff on arrival could have been more friendly also the staff in the restaurant in the evening needed more training. Tea lights on the table could have added to the ambience and it was quite dark. Pleasant background music would have helped too

Another lovely old Country Inn, food good and reasonably priced. Staff were very efficient and helpful.

Car park quite away from pub,up a hill, probably not a problem for others,but I am disabled. Nevertheless, the staff willingly helped with suitcases. No handrails in bath for showering.

From beginning to end, our stay was perfect. The staff were friendly and helpful. Check-in was easy. Supper was great... and filling. Sitting in the beautiful and peaceful garden was a joy and there was a lovely country footpath behind the car park. The room was comfortable and large. Stunning historical features, comfy bed and hot water for the shower and bath. Breakfast was a lovely experience as well as great food. A big shout out to housekeeping, which we did not ask for, but found diligent. Everything was kept clean and restocked.

We stayed four nights and could not find any downsides our whole stay.

Perfect location between Bideford and clovelly and Hartland. Beautiful thatched Inn with a bar and restaurant with outstanding food. Super friendly staff, lovely breakfast. Thank you so much!! Highly recommend staying here 😊

Outstanding food, surroundings and super comfortable bed

Evening meal was delicious, best muscle's I've ate for a long time. Breakfast start time was too late for me, work commitments, kindly gave me a pack up with bottle of water for lunch instead - no extra charge

Plenty of space in car park. Interesting garden. Staff, without exception, helpful and friendly- and managed to keep it up throughout our 4 day stay! Excellent food, most including beautiful steak, sourced from a local farm. Really enjoyed having dishes on the menu that were not the standard hotel fare, particularly the sea bass dish. It has history and is mentioned, along with Clovelly, by Susan Coolidge in her book “In the High Valley” published in 1891 after touring the UK in the 1870s

The access to the car park is single lane and relies on everyone driving slowly but it is quite tricky turning off from the busy main road with impatient traffic behind you.

Food was lovely. Staff super friendly. Room spotless and bed comfy

I booked a twin room and it overlooked central area of hotel. Boiler/ kitchen fan was noisy and bright light shining at room meant blind had to be fully down so it was quite hot.
