Beautiful hotel, excellent location and great dog friendly options. Very reasonable additional costs for dogs staying and dog bowls and snacks were put in our room which was a very nice touch. Great bar, restaurant and outside seating facilities. Very friendly and competent staff
Very warm weather and our room hadn’t been aired before we arrived. The temperature in the room didn’t lower significantly, despite us opening the window, so at night it was warmer in the room than outside, making for an uncomfortable nights’ sleep for us and the dogs. We appreciate the very warm weather was unusual circumstances and not in the control of the hotel (just the ventilation).

We had another wonderful stay. We stayed in the Coach House, which is located at the back of the large lawn. It's such a lovely place. Breakfast was great, too, and I liked how close the hotel is to the town centre. Oh and the car park is great too!
I would like hotels and restaurants to pay more attention to the seats in their restaurants. Clean tables are wonderful - but so is a clean seat. I had to brush off breadcrumbs and small pieces of food from my seat nearly every morning. It was the same in all the other hotels I stayed in. It is this small attention to detail I would like to see more of. Some people might not even notice - but I do.

Haven't been here for a few years and only ever for lunch or coffee so a first time for overnight with dinner and breakfast. Fantastic staff - very impressed by engagement with us, offers to help, remembering us across the evening into next morning. Room well appointed - it was very hot so maybe aircon one day given the heatwaves we now have but despite that good shower room, coffee making facilities, radio, Netflix, comfy clean beds and good towels. Enjoyed the best croissants for breakfast. We did choose eggs royal and benedict and on reflection maybe should have stuck to full English traditionals as it is hard to serve the poached eggs warm enough. Good parking at the rear, help with cases, nice bar with great choice of wines. Reception service good.
If really picky I would say I was less impressed with dinner. I chose pie with mash and greens and I would have preferred the mash buttery, the green beans al dente rather than almost raw and the gravy less runny - however the sundae was delicious.

A last minute night away and we had stayed here before so knew what to expect, although we were very impressed with the upgraded bar/dining area since we last visited. A warm welcome from the receptionist. The room was nicely furnished, in-keeping with the period of the hotel. Bed was super comfy, lovely bedding. Good quality complimentary toiletries and hostess tray. Free and secure parking is a bonus.
Our room was looking out over the kitchen/bins and furthest away from reception - I think sometimes hotels don't like you not booking direct with them, so you get the less desirable rooms. Also, both windows looked straight out at other properties so some net curtains would have been preferred - had to close the curtains to get dressed/undressed.

Room was beautiful, well equipped for teas/coffees with a great bathroom and a very comfortable bed. Dinner was really tasty, well kept ale, helpful & friendly staff. Choice at breakfast was great, we had one full English & one eggs florentine, pastries, tea coffee, juice. All round really very good.Oh, and the reception ladies who very quickly found my phone when I forgot it in the room at checkout were lovely & helpful. Great place, great staff.
Well the garlic bread with cheese was garlic-less, as was the hoummus, so if we're having to be really picky to find something we could call wrong I think we can say there wasn't much we didn't like.

It was one of those hotels that rarely surpasses your expectation as we really just thought it was a town centre pub type hotel. It was far from that, fabulous service, fully refurbished a couple of years ago, staff outstanding (all of them - so pleasant), food top notch and it had an aire of historic elegance about it. We didn't realise it was part of a chain of another 42 properties "coaching inn group" - check them out as they have historic hotels all over the UK and we will most definitely be re-visiting this one but also trying others. Fabulous stay and rarely blown away by hotels but this one ticked all the boxes. Heath centre/gym and a lovely outside area also! - Excellent!

Didn’t have breakfast as very early start for a nearby hospital appointment hence our overnight stay
The bedroom was very hot when we arrived and there was no ventilation except the bathroom fan. Turned off the radiator but it was still a bit airless and the window wouldn't open at all. The bedding was lovely and clean but the duvet and pillows somewhat hard and sticky synthetic. Bathroom immaculate and newly refitted. Very spacious and plenty if nice hot water. Could do with a small tea table next to the arm chair. The restaurant was good, a little pricey perhaps. Nicely decorated for Christmas. Staff were all delightful!

The staff were lovely, the hotel decor and room was really nice and a great size, the food in the restaurant was very good, and they took great care when I told them I was gluten and dairy intolerant, thier fish and chips was GF and their was a dessert option too which was GF and DF. Great breakfast. Great service all round. There is plenty of parking at the hotel. Good location to be able to go off and sightsee the surrounding attractions.
We booked last minute and had a superior double, our room was located on the second (top floor), although it was not a problem for us, there were quite a few steep stairs (no lift as its a period property). It's a town centre location, and our room faced the street, so early Saturday morning was quite noisy from street noise, meaning no lay in. We didn't feel the bathroom was up to the standard of a superior room or the hotels rating. The toilet seat was wonky, and the shower taps/controls weren't great. The bathroom rad wasn't working, and there was a ceiling lamp out.

Welcoming and helpful staff. Lovely decor. Very comfortable, warm and spacious bedroom with desk and lovely easy chair. Beautifully prepared and presented food with attention to need for gluten free food.
Lack of lift - one of us had to walk up 49 stairs to access bedroom! As a senior with arthritic knees, quite an effort! Realise it's an ancient building, but have seen lifts in similar hotels - a pity this wasn't addressed in the recent refurbishment. Some closer attention needed to bathroom in 105 - mould on window frames and some of the shower tile grouting needs cleaned or renewed. The temperature of the shower is either cold or very hot - shower regulator needs attention. A luggage stand would be helpful.

Lovely reception staff on arrival friendly and professional. My room was very tastefully decorated and clean, it was cold though and the radiator wasn't working, but when I pointed this out an oil heater was brought to the room, which was adequate. The decor and the ambience in the hotel is first class. I didn't have breakfast but did eat in the restaurant and the food was very good and reasonably priced, and a good selection on the menu. Great location in the centre of Oswestry, I can definitely highly recommend The Wynnstay hotel.
I couldn't find anything to fault.
