Relaxing family break. Beautiful fluffy towels, pristine bathroom, comfy beds with beautiful crisp clean sheets & fresh milk for tea delivered each morning in a little thermos churn. The owner couldn’t do enough to help accommodate two lively 10yr olds & an active independent 18th old! Lovely views of the surrounding countryside within easy reach of shops & restaurants.

Yalbury Cottage is a superb place to stay. Everything, without exception, is top quality. It is a lovely gem in the English countryside and the only negative thing I can say is that I regretted that we could only stay one night. I would gladly arrange to stay there longer. I had not done my homework properly and even though I was aware there was a food "option", I thought it was sort of ad-hoc. I clearly didn't look to carefully at the information. Yalbury has a superb restaurant, and we had the best meal of all our trip to the UK.

There is no improvement that I can think of but as with many a small property, there is a second floor and no elevator. They are very helpful in getting luggage up to the second-floor rooms but people with difficulty climbing stairs should ensure they have a ground floor room.

Adriana gave us as warm a welcome as ever. She made us feel instantly at home. The bedroom was quiet and very comfortable as was the ensuite bathroom. The meals exceeded our expectations. Her husband is a fantastic chef. The dinner was one of the tastiest for a long time, delicious cheese souffle starter, fish and meat dishes perfectly cooked great veg, and nice pudding. Breakfast was equally amazing, huge choice of all the usual plus three fish dishes and home baked croissants. Everything is home made , lots of little amuses bouches and extras, nice chocolates and full tea and coffee and hot chocolate making facilities in the room with fresh milk , two bottles of water, the attention to detail was superb and we look forward to paying a return visit . The location is beautiful too and you can walk out to Kingston Maurwood and to Thorncombe wood from Yalbury and leave your car, and be immersed in nature instantly.

We had the absolute pleasure of staying at this amazing place, surrounded by stunning scenery. The rooms were super clean and inviting, with all the amenities you’d expect—and then some! The hosts were incredibly kind and welcoming, always going out of their way to make sure we had a great time. And the food? Just wow. You’ll get top-notch dishes at really reasonable prices. Even the breakfast menu was outstanding. If you’re planning a trip to beautiful Devon, we can’t recommend this spot enough!

Nice staff. Good size room. Bathroom had a bath. Spectacular evening meal and although pricey, was worth it every penny. Its a lovely cottage in a lovely village in lovely countryside.

I'll be honest, and this isn't really a criticism as I like a slightly livelier atmospher, but the evenings, although relaxed had too many people talking in hushed tones and being very politely quiet.

Everything was just wonderful, thanks to Ariane's warm welcome and Jamie's fantastic culinary skills. Breakfast was super delicious and charged by what we chose, and not a set price, as we couldn't manage a full English. As for dinner, that really was a fine dining experience. Yalbury Cottage really is a find, and we hope to be back again very soon.

The mattress was a little too soft for us, but that's just a matter of preference, and absolutely didn't detract from a fabulous stay.

The accommodation was lovely and the staff brilliant, happy and helpful. The place was situated in a lovely quiet place. The food at this place was beyond my expectations. I thought it would be more like standard b&b fare. Instead what came out was well crafted, well presented excellent food. Easily the equivalent of some excellent restaurants I have been to previously. A great find after a long day at tank fest. Totally reinforced my convictions to shun chain hotels and go to these amazing well run independents.

Never has a hotel exceeded my expectations like this, I would go so far as to say that from the moment we arrived to our moment of departure, it was pretty much perfect, the staff, the rooms, the quality of the food, everything!

If I had to find one thing, it would have to be the lack of air conditioning in the bedroom, but to be fair, the noise and equipment necessary to provide that would destroy the ambiance of the place.

The location was ideal for us, the countryside literally just outside the window. We went for a lovely walk up the road to Hardy's cottage. The room and bathroom is really comfortable. We loved the eco-friendly attitude, from the toilet paper to the teabags. Lovely stay!

We couldn't figure out how to put the infra red mirror light in the bathroom off, but apart from that we liked it all.

Beautiful setting, quiet and relaxing. Bedrooms clean and adequate - liked how supplied free bottled water and tea/coffee selection good. Lovely view from bedroom. Breakfast superior - good quality, delicious food with excellent selection and displayed like a photo shoot. Staff very friendly and helpful. Outdoor area/garden pretty and sits nicely in location. My only regret is we couldn’t stay for Sunday lunch - even our taxi driver commented it was the best in the area. We will return and recommend to friends
