I was greeted in a very friendly and helpful manner, had an extremely good chat about the area and what to do, and how to use the facilities. I arrived quite late and a huge highlight after the long drive was to get into the hot pools and look up at the stars - incredibly peaceful experience, and I would come back just for that. My room was clean, warm and comfortable, and I appreciated the touch of the towels being left on the heater to warm! Perfectly placed to get to the Tongariro Alpine Crossing early the next morning too - a very short drive.

We stayed here for one night after hiking in the National Park, it was more closely located than going to Taupo and had hot pools available. These were amazing after a 17km hike! Bed was comfortable, the units were spacious, and check-in easy. Motel had everything we needed. It was a short drive to town to grab groceries or a meal out. We would stay here again.

The hot pools are 3-4 pools separated out for private use which is both good and bad. The morning of departure we went to use them and there was only one hot one available (there were different temperature pools and the less hot ones seemed to cool off overnight - they were all toasty the night before). Other guests were using this in the morning and we were not quick enough off the mark (I checked a couple of times). We'd loved the hot pools the day before and would have loved a second go before we left.

The hot pool was super awesome especially after snow boarding, nice, hot, private and 24/7 use for guests. Great value for money and close to town. I also left some belongings behind and the manager/owner helped me get them back.

We were woken up very early by people in a room next door with wall tapping, switching on the lights and could hear it from 2 doors down so maybe very thin walls. Otherwise the stay was good. Only one towel per person per day so would recc bringing a spare towel in colder rainy days if taking advantage of hot pool

Lovely place with central heating - loved the radiators as it was a cold night. Kitchen was well set up and space was well utilised. Spa was great once the water was warmer!

View from the hot pools is just a shed - would have been great if all four had been open as reckon the pool on the left would have had an amazing view! Hot pools were on slightly warm when we got in, but the owner came and loosened the taps which made it delightfully warm afterwards.

Check in was easy - rooms were awesome but floor really really cool underfoot. Loved the mineral baths - went out twice in one night in dead of winter. The local tavern do great meals. Good hot water in rooms and clean and tidy. Great value.

Walking on stones to the outdoor baths but that’s pretty much it! Doors on entry’s could possibly have a handle to assist arthritis sufferers but otherwise it was awesome

THE HOT SPRING POOLS!! They were the attraction for us as we wanted a good soak in spring water, NOT geo thermal water. They are authentic genuine spring pools, not fancy pants! There are 3 private pools of ranging heat. Very old school which we loved.

Well, unfortunately, the unit hadn't had a thorough clean. There was a dead insect on the kitchen sill, and the newish carpet had a piece of gravel in it, which made us query the cleanliness of the unit. The 2 bedside lamps in main room didn't work

We always choose to stay here now when we visit Tokaanu. The units are always exceptionally clean and the private hot pool is a favourite. If you get the chance, the one on the left is the best with its view across the paddock. The kitchen is well equipped and one of the two tvs is a smart tv so great to cast from your device. The double bed is really comfortable.

Cute and affordable motel close to Turangi. Spacious & quiet, with clean, comfy beds, nice shower & kitchenette. Loved the rural surroundings and all the birds. Good proximity to the Tongariro crossing. It was a really comfortable place to recover the day after our hike and drink tea on a rainy day!

We enjoyed the hot pools, but our second and third nights they were not nearly as hot as the first night; unsure of why. Still enjoyable but we were hoping for a hotter soak!

I honestly enjoyed this little motel. It was exceptionally clear! It was neat and had everything we needed. The hot pools were a bonus and we used them twice. The linen and towels were nice and white and clean. It was perfect for us. Thank you Rainbow Motel

Maybe a torch to get the hot pools at night? It was a bit nerve wrecking not knowing what to expect LOL. We have never experience a thermal hot pool. Although we had our phones I thought maybe a little extra light would be nice

Very clean, tidy and comfortable rooms with everything you need.

Hot pools not great one was not very hot, looks at a corrugated shed, but very clean. The other water temp was good, with a nicer view but not clean. However the local public hot pools 2mins down the road were excellent, a short wait but clean and great temperatures.
