The gentleman that checked us in was fabulously helpful. The room was a good size and well equiped for short and longer stays.

Parking is a little tight when the motel is full. A combination of motel guests ( eg.local workers - tradies and labourers, removalists with their trucks safely parked on the side road not in carpark, and holiday makers ) meant some departed early for work and others were out until later at night smoking or on their phones which might have been awkward if trying to get young children to sleep.

We needed accommodation for a sports carnival. We didn't expect to spend much time at the hotel. So we felt this hotel met our needs. Location to local sports field. The room was a good size. Kids loved the pool, especially the slide. The beds were adequate, and the room was a good size. The showers were fine with good water pressure and good heat. The shower gels smelt nice. The rooms were clean and maintained for an older hotel. The staff were accommodating to our late arrival and the air con was on when we arrived which was lovely.

It's right next to the highway, so you can hear trucks go past. Though, after a while, it sounded like a thunderstorm. Smoking facilities were outside the rooms, so the smell of smoke filtered through the windows. Once windows were closed, we couldn't smell it anymore.

I initially booked the motel because it was the cheapest available while I was in town for inductions. It far exceeded my expectations in cleanliness and comfort. The showers were good, the beds were comfortable and cleaned daily. The lady at the front desk on Wednesday that helped out with the parking was great. Super friendly, and an absolute cougar. 10/10 Hottie.

One of my neighbours was a smoker, and was smoking right outside the door, so the smell permeated the room at night.

Very easy to talk to staff, they checked in on me during the day for time of arrival, location was close to various places to grab a bite to eat, easily walking distance. Spacious room, bed was firm but comfy. Everything you needed you had. If you like hot water you're in luck it's piping hot. Air con was great. I'd stay again.

A little noisy as it's on the main road but the noise subsided as it got later Lights from car parking area lit up the room a little so maybe some better window coverings required but not a deal breaker. Same as the positive review on the water. As its piping hot watch the young ones it gets very hot very quick.

Pool was refreshing after a long drive and the price of the accommodation was pretty good, it also had undercover parking. Location was very handy for us, as it was just a walk up to the local pub.

Beds were too hard and guests were allowed to smoke directly outside their rooms. Workers who left early (5.30am) sat outside their rooms talking and smoking and had no consideration for other guests.

That everytime we have stayed it is always clean, we are greeted cheerfully. Pool was lovely and clean as well. Our preferred motel for our visits to Mackay, we don't look at any others. Thank you Galaxy for another great stay, staff are wonderful.

Nothing to complain about, it's a lovely motel and it's our preferred place to stay on our visits to Mackay. Only thing we'd say would be to have a face washer to go with each towel for each visitor however we asked the people and they were more than happy to provide extra without hesitation so it's not even a dislike. 4+stars easy....

It is suited to what I needed as a family. It was clean, beds were comfy, my car was easily accessible from my room and loved that it had a kitchen.

Parking. Not much room to manoeuvre a car when you want reverse park. But this is minor.

the bed and the amount of light coming into the room, needs curtains as well. a map showing where some local pub, restaurants, cafes are for meals when new to the area can be daunting to follow and navigate on a mobile phone map.

Location, staff, size of the room

We weren’t sure of the pool hours - there was no information booklet. Also, there was only 1/2 roll of toilet paper. The fridge froze our food!! These things are not enough to stop us staying in the future!
