Our room was charming and comfortable with a large bed and tea/coffee/biscuits in the room provided. We were greeted warmly and taken care of by EVERY staff member we interacted with who went out of their way to make sure we had everything we needed during our stay. The location is right off the Ferry and we were able to walk or use public transportation to easily access everything we needed on Arran. I cannot state enough what a pleasant experience we had at the hotel! The included breakfast was also delicious and included amazing continental options as well as a hot order of food as well. All in all, we loved our experience at The Douglas!

Beautiful building and great bar and restaurant. Amazing staff (especially Jack) and food.
Felt the room could have been in a little better condition and was not entirely matching pictures of the rooms we seen prior to booking. Room was clean but the throw on the bed did appear dirty.

The staff are friendly, a warm welcome awaits as you check in, rooms are beautiful, bathrooms fabulous, quite a unique hotel with a lot of character, but that does not mean dated, everything was lovely and well maintained, a modern feel, spotlessly clean, beautiful bar and dining areas - great views, food is excellent including breakfasts. You don't need to be a resident to pop in for a lovely cup of coffee or pot of tea, (and beer during licensing hours) and cakes available from mid morning in the bar area. Lovely outlook and patio area and outdoor seating in the warmer months - The Hotel is about a 100metres from the ferry terminal, so you could come over as a foot passenger, there is a bus service around the island (check times) though. I loved it - Thank you shout out to receptionist Lucie who made me feel most welcome, as well as the dining staff, bar staff and cleaners who worked tirelessly keeping everything spotless.
Nothing, it is beautiful !!

The staff are unbelievably helpful and so lovely and easy to approach. The hotel helped me lots before I even arrived to change the number of nights for my stay (due to personal circumstances) and really helped with tips and numbers to book a taxi to wedding venue. The hotel itself was absolutely gorgeous and we had a beautiful room! Lovely amenities and we loved the soap and shampoo etc so we ended up ordering it when we were on the boat home. Breakfast was delicious! Every member of staff we met, had a smile on their face and were so helpful. Never been to Arran before but we would love to come back, mostly because this hotel was just a fantastic find!
Absolutely nothing, I can’t wait to stay again in the future!

Location. Off the ferry and into the hotel's carpark, perfect. Staff. Friendly, professional, accommodating. Made our stay feel homely. Room. Very clean, spacious, comfortable and cozy. Great views. Good facilities, I loved the bath. Had really good nights sleep. Woke up opened the blinds and I'm greeted with fantastic views of the sea and a snow topped mountain, just... just fabulous. Breakfast. Excellent selection of continental and hot breakfast. You can bespoke your hot breakfast, e.g., just sausage and eggs. Dinner. We had dinner in the hotel one evening and had fish and chips. The food was delicious with very good portions. At the other end of the town is the Ormidale Hotel. The pub was awesome! The people were so friendly. It serves the best pub food I've had in a long long time. The have good selections of whisky. You need to go there. Naz is awesome and we had some good chats about the whiskys. The distillery tours are a must. We drove around the island, around 50 miles, stopping at various points to take in the stunning scenary. The beaches are beautiful. It's a variation of everything on one beautiful island, landscapes, geology and wildlife.

Cleanliness was on point, the staff were excellent and the food was great. We chose to have afternoon tea on arrival and it was the perfect start to our stay - it was delicious and very reasonably priced. We like boutique hotels and the Douglas did not disappoint. There was something interesting to see around every corner. Douglas Duck was a nice touch. He is settling well in his new home. All in all, we had a great time and have already decided we will return.
I was slightly disappointed that the dinner menu was the same in the Bar and the Bistro, but since it was a great menu, it didn't really matter. One or 2 different choices would have been good though

Location was good, and service was friendly. Fresh fruit and juice coffee and tea all great. Attention to my gluten free dietary needs were excellent.
However, cooked breakfast was disappointing. The bacon and sausages in my opinion were of inferior quality given that they were sourced locally. Being a coeliac I was unable to share in the sausage or black pudding as neither.were gluten free, but my husband felt that both were of inferior quality. Finally, yhe baked beans were served tepid, almost cold each day. Baked beans we're tepid every day

Our room and our bathroom were very spacious. The breakfast was hearty and tasty and the food at the bistro where we went every evening was varied and good. We were lucky to have live music one evening at the bistro. The staff were all very kind, helpful and agreeable. For our purposes the hotel location was perfect. We didn’t have a car so it was important to be close to the ferry terminal. We hiked and there are loads of hikes that can be started from the hotel ( no real need to get a bus). Alternatively the bus stops are just on the doorstep if you want to visit the other parts of the island

Great location right next to the ferry terminal. The room was really clean too and the bed was very comfy The bar area has amazing views over the mountains (I came to Arran to climb up them so made it better to see them from a different angle!) The breakfast was really nice too and staff seemed mostly friendly
As much as I liked staying here I think it’s very overpriced for what you get. The room I stayed in seemed like it was down in a basement area so not exactly luxury Also, when I went for dinner the waiter put me in a cold corner away from everyone else which I found to be strange. I try not to take it personally it was just a strange thing to do so I wouldn’t dine there again

Clean and modern inside. Both the public rooms and the bedrooms were modern and tastefully decorated. Bedroom was large and had everything you would need. Large comfortable bed. En-suite very up to date, large and in very good condition. Loved the grey tweed curtains in the bedroom. Bedroom elegantly decorated. Lovely decorative touches of candles in lanterns, Artwork and decorative furniture through hotel. Breakfast included a menu of cook to order dishes, much prefer this to a hot buffet. Staff were pleasant, welcoming and informative.
