I thought it was exceptional value for money. It was a week day so that might have been why but it was mid July and I'm pretty sure Scottish schools have broken up so £85 for a family of 3 to stay for one night with breakfast included I thought was fantastic value. Nice decent sized en suite and the room was big too. Way bigger than I expected for the price. Our view looked out on to the sea. Clean room, comfortable beds, decent sized room and the breakfast was decent too. Full breakfast with good quality sausages not those 20% pork Richmond rubbish lol

Nothing really to dislike apart from having to ring reception for access once the hotel shut its doors. I guess it adds some security but I'd rather have a key that would let me back in or a swipe card. However it's a very minor thing

Nice spacious room, with comfortable bed. Food lovely, and good breakfast.

Appalling service at dinner. Young guy gave us menus and water when we sat down. Never came back to take our order, as setting other tables seemed to be his only priority. Eventually after about 15 mins, I attracted his attention, and even then he said, I'll be with you in a minute, and continued to set the table he was working on. He then came over to take our order, and had the cheek to apologise for keeping us waiting. Shower in the room, we could only get it Luke warm, even although the water from the basin was hot.

The staff were so friendly and helpful, nothing was too much bother for them, especially the woman who served us at breakfast she was lovely and couldnt do enough for you. From the outside I expected the rooms to be cold, old fashioned and a bit shabby but I was shocked when I walked into the room it was lovely and the bathroom was modern and so clean. It definitely wasn't cold either they keep the place well heated in the winter. Breakfast was delicious! Would definitely recommend and I will stay here again the next time I have an event in Ardrossan.

The bathroom in the room was tiny but it wasn't a big deal as I was with my husband so we just got dressed in the room for more space.

Staff were very polite. Room clean. The food is great. We had a family room facing the sea view. Felt like at granmas house as style of the hotel is more like from olden times which gives them their own look. Overall, it was a great stay at a great location, near the train station and bus stop outside the hotel.

They were getting ready for wedding reception, and we were let out the hotel through the back door, which I felt was odd. Also, last hour before checking out of the hotel, cleaners were standing outside the door and speaking so loudly that we could hear all conversation.

This was our family's favorite hotel in Scotland. Our family room was huge. We had beautiful large windows with a view of the sea. It was clean and the workers were very friendly. The included breakfast was delicious and ample. The parking was easy. It is within walking distance to a great playground and a beach. The windows had good dark curtains. The beds were comfortable. The bathroom was clean and had decent water pressure. We wished we could have stayed here our whole trip. Great for families with kids. Quiet and peaceful. Close to the ferry for visiting Isle of Arran.

We couldn’t get back to our home on Arran because of boat disruptions so the location of this hotel was ideal. Our evening meal and breakfast were both excellent. All staff were really friendly and welcoming.

Our room was very cold when we arrived. It was a very windy day and I don’t think the window could be fully closed and we had to turn the heating on. Although the shower was hot the entire-suite was not heated at all. Brrr! Perhaps a small heated towel rail might help?

The hotel was only five minutes from station. Ideally situated with views towards the sea front. Walking distance into Saltcoats and Ardrossan harbour. Spacious room and lovely modern shower. Staff very friendly and helpful. Excellent service in restaurant. Well provided with toiletries and dressing gowns.

It would have helped to have another table or a stand for suitcase as I struggle to kneel on floor and unpack each day. The tea tray would have been better positioned on coffee table rather than on clothes stand.

The whole hotel had a lovely atmosphere. Was Close to the Ferry terminal for Arran, which was my purpose for staying. My room had a sea view, lovely bath too. There was an extensive dinner menu… and the food was excellent Really nice dining room, with views across the sea to Arran. Staff were friendly and helpful in all departments. Breakfast was tasty and well presented I loved everything about my stay at the LAURISTON. I will return.

Friendly, welcoming receptionist and pleasant staff. Great shower, comfortable bed, surprisingly quiet room for the location. Enjoyed a good breakfast in the morning.

The carpet leading up the stairs and the bathroom cabinetry was a bit worn and tired, but the place was clean and comfortable. Service was a bit slow the next morning but the breakfast was good.

The hotel is right on the sea front & is convenient for the ferry over to Arran. It is a bit dated & dark inside but obviously retains many of the original features which is rather nice. Our room was OK, clean, beds comfortable, bathroom OK, all the usual complimentary things supplied. Breakfast was good & served to the table, full scottish, there were also cereals provided. Waitress was efficient & friendly. Only stayed the one night before getting the ferry but would stay again.

If I had to be picky I suppose the squeaky floorboard by the bathroom door was a bit of a pain during night-time visits as it was impossible to creep there quietly!! but I suppose the hotel was just showing it's age
