Situated 15-minute drive from Lancaster, the hotel is in a semi rural location & next to Lancaster University business academy. Our room was nicely positioned, quiet & looking out over the garden area. The large swimming pool, sauna & steam rooms are lovely to relax. There is also a nice outside heated hot tub. Our food was well presented & of a good standard. We preferred to eat in the bar area rather than the formal restaurant. We will return to Lancaster House Hotel.

The staff is extremely friendly. The hotel is charming, tranquil, unbeatably located if visiting the university, and has all the amenities one might need with a bar and restaurant on site. The cleaning staff did a great job and in the room you get complimentary water, tea/coffee, cookies, and a very cute fluffy dog for purchase (sadly I had no room left to take him).

The rooms are beginning to show wear and tear. A few cracked tiles in the bathroom as well as lots of black discoloration on the grout in the bathroom, plus on the doors near the handles the paint is coming off. Also, no fault of the hotel, but the absence of climate control made for some very hot nights during a heatwave.

Stayed 1 night , the pool was area was beautiful , the room was a little dated yet I know they are doing work on them, the bed however was one of the most comfortable beds I had ever selpt on !! all the staff were very nice and helpful. Including the bar staff, and it's a really nice bar And the breakfast selection was amazing, everything was beautifully cooked and again fanatic service

We did have an issuses with the electric car charging port, which the hotel sorted in the morning And I would recommend bringing your own shampoo and condition if you want to wash your hair after swimming , they only provided a shampoo n body wash in 1 which was awful I'm afraid

There were no instructions / booklet that directly informed me as a guest as to amenities : breakfast times, how to work the tv, room service, laundry services and general hospitality included in the hotel. How to access spa pool opening times. The WiFi didn’t work so no use looking at website which didn’t say anything specific for guests anyway. For a top hotel I was disappointed in this especially as a lone guest for a night

Location and tranquil surroundings

The shower thermostat was not hot enough. Especially when cold. Also, the bathroom extractor was permanently on. Waste of electricity. My wifi login details didn't work, so I had to use a voucher. Lastly, I booked on booking.com and had to pay for parking. Perhaps a discount for those not aware of free parking incentives as your business is ranked higher on that site, and no way would I have known where to book directly. Lesson learnt and will book directly next time. Otherwise, an uneventful stay and and will be back soon.

The location to Lancaster University where we were visiting my daughter. All the staff that helped us throughout our stay were absolutely wonderful- warm, professional and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble. The food was excellent, very tasty and fresh. Sunday roast was one of the best we have had in a restaurant. Spa exceeded our expectations.room was warm, spotlessly clean and very comfortable. The hotel has a homely vibe from the welcome of a blasing fire on arrival to cheerful and freindly staff.

Only a small point but we had to wait a while for food to arrive after arrival. The hotel was busy, it was worth the wait but it was noted that this was an area that could have been more efficient. The bar and waiting staff were all very, very helpful and attentive in their service.

Staff excellent and the service efficient and friendly; breakfast is very good, especially the fresh fruit; and the new dining room menu is excellent. The windows open wide so that fresh air can come in, something which is missing from most hotels.

We very much dislike the 'dogs welcome' approach. Dogs should not be allowed in hotel rooms; it is appallingly unhygienic and I hope that when I ask for a room not previously occupied by a dog, that this happens, though I doubt it given the state of some of the carpets!

Paying for parking at £12 per night seems very expensive when parking isnt limited as car park is large and never full. Bar meals menu very limited compared to when i have stayed here before. When in the bar i ordered drinks from the bar and was given a service charge so effectively paid just for the barman to pour me a pint. I object to paying this as not getting a service here that i would expect to pay extra for. If table service for drinks had been in place then a service fee could be expected however should not be charged a service fee just for walking up the bar yourself and getting a drink.

I know this one quite well, since formerly employed at the University next door. Decent price in the off-peak period of the year. I believe it is popular for its health and spa facilities and bar/restaurant, but I have never used them and just need a place to sleep and work. The rooms are generally fine, entering the modern age with adequate power points. A bath rather than just a shower is a nice touch.

Travelled around the UK a great deal this year, staying in about 20 places. This one is an upper end hotel but a fridge would be welcome. You can get decent meals on campus just a short walk away, much more cheaply than at the hotel - there is Indian food at the Sultan, noodles, and a Serbian kebab place there that are nearly always open. And much cheaper breakfasts on offer too on campus. The Pizzetta Republic hardly ever closes.

Very nice location for our visit to Lancaster University open day and very nice hotel overall. The hotel staff was amazing - we misbooked our hotel for one night instead of two and were totally oblivious to that until we came back from university open day in the evening, we had a great help on reception to locate our "evicted" luggage as well as booking teh very last room available matching Booking.com prices as well (which did not have availability on the last night). The reception even rearranged existing booking to match number of guests since there were 3 of us and available room had 2x occupancy but some rooms that night were booked for one in 3x room - best service and the definition of being helpful we have seen for a while in a hotels. Thanks!

Nothing much, rooms tend to have thin walls so you can hear neighbouring rooms occupants if they are loud but that is not a big deal.
