Area location was great, close to everything. Reception staff were lovely. We could store our luggage in a locker before we checked in which was great. They also let us keep luggage in the hotel after checkout for a small fee (£4) which was much more convenient for our last day there. They sell bits in the hostel and you can rent towels. They have a laundry room and kitchen area which was really convenient. Ironing facilities as well. Beds were comfy but not alot of space, kept banging my head but what do you expect from bunk beds!

Alot of people staying there didn't speak good English and had alot of international / exchange students as it was a youth hostel so was difficult to make connections but it was great value for money if your just looking for somewhere to sleep. Difficulty with a hostel is that your sharing your room with others so bit annoying that you have to feel you need to whisper if people are sleeping In late or going to bed early... but part of the package I guess! I think next time if were going as a group we will just book a room Big enough for the group size so we're altogether.

I have been staying at this place for years now, whenever I’m in London I usually go for this one. Firstly, location, it’s so close and walkable to everything and the subway station is literally 3 min walk, but you never have to use it anyways. Supermarket and 2 Prets are also 3 min walk. The beds are comfy and the WiFi signal is super good, power sockets near each bed, and you can check in whenever. The only thing is the noise of course, but at the end of the day that’s a hostel and it’s just the matter of luck, I stayed for 3 nights and 2 of them were super quiet and I got decent sleep and the final night was quite noisy with people coming and going and checking in at 2 and then 3 am, switching on the lights and moving luggage it wasn’t possible to sleep until 3 really. But that’s what you get as at the end of the day it’s a hostel.

Great hostel, was a little worried because of some of the reviews but besides the heat which they can’t help we had a great time there. There’s a few fans in the room to try help circulate some air but was hard to sleep. Kitchen is clean, bathroom and the overall hostel smells great all the time, there’s a speaker playing music in the showers lowly which was nice and they were newly renovated by the looks of it, no queues and there was always a bathroom free out of the 6 outside our room. Stayed in a mixed 12 bedroom dorm and everyone was friendly and didn’t go near anyone’s stuff. Would definitely stay again but maybe when there’s not a heatwave. Staff were also very friendly. Air conditioning in the main common area if you want to cool off and grab a snack out of the vending machine during the night which was very affordable with tasty snacks.

Nothing except the heat which they are clearly trying to ease for everyone with multiple fans.

Perfect location for my surgery Perfect price as just needed a place to sleep didn't need anything else. Having a disability, the only thing that was a slight issue for me was alot of stair to get to room, no lift. But I managed it. Lockers available in room, had to buy a padlock for £4.50 which was worth it for safe keeping of personal items. Was able to leave and go out for dinner with no worries. Big room available with tables and chairs, also had kitchen area with fridge and I think microwave if I can remember which is great for self catering Location Perfect for shops and restaurants I would highly recommend to people that are looking for a hostel stay

Very well located, basic but good breakfast in the morning. Took the 6-beds dorm, not sure if that’s why, but the room was quiet, everyone was respectful of each other. No snoring or people being loud, or playing music on their phones or whatever. This is not a party hostel (quiet time after 11pm) — i found that everyone was minding their business, little to none interactions between guests which is fine by me. I didn’t bring my adaptor for the UK so was happy to see how many outlets/plugs were everywhere to charge your electronics, including in the bed. Wifi is good. Showers were clean. Overall, nothing to complain about, especially at this competitive pricing considering it’s in London !

The bed was comfortable, and I liked that it had a curtain for extra privacy. - The in-room locker was spacious enough to fit a carry-on suitcase and a backpack, which was super convenient. - The location is definitely one of the best features – very close to the metro, supermarkets, and museums. - The bathroom was large and had clearly been recently renovated

Unfortunately, I was in London during a heatwave, and the room only had a small fan for six people, which wasn’t enough! At times, some of the toilets were not very clean, but to be fair, the staff was constantly making an effort to keep them tidy.

I was impressed with the kitchen. Normally when I travel and stay in other hostels they have little kitchens or just a microwave and fridge but in the Smart Russell, the kitchen is fully equipped and very spacious! Also you have a space, where to eat and another big room where to work in your laptops, or make your calls or watch movies in your personal devices or video calls, etc Early in the morning the cleaning service comes and does a great work. There are workers 24/7 in the reception so if you need anything, there's personal there always attending you so you don't feel alone. Toilets and showers also very clean. Showers got hairdryer (not the one we have at our homes but enough to dry a bit your hair) so it's a good point. The location of this hostel is just perfect. In 15 minutes by walk you can get to Chinatown, Trafalgar square, Piccadilly and all the theatres spot but also you have some Bus and underground lines. It's very, very well communicated and easy to go back to the airport. For sure I'll come back in future staying and will recommend. Very nice experience.

Maybe just two things: pillows are very very thick and the tables in the dinning room (or the room next to the kitchen where there's the tv I mean) aren't higher enough (close to the floor level) and not very comfy to eat on them. Maybe good to take a cup of tea or a coffee but not to eat using dishes or bowls.

We were a family of five and booked a private room. The location is excellent with many transport options nearby. Cleaning services were great, and the reception staff were friendly and helpful. We used the laundry service, which saved us money on check-in luggage, and the lockers after check-out were very convenient. Breakfast was a good budget all-you-can-eat option, and the kids loved the hostel experience despite the limited room space. We were on the 2nd floor and didn't have any issues with noise.

Only small downside was that laundry tokens felt a bit expensive.

First of all, the staff was very friendly and they’re willing to assist in any way they can. Second, the beds were comfortable enough. They were not great but for a budget stay I was very happy. The showers were clean, the toilets a little less so but that’s also because of the guests. Cleaners come in and clean every day. Lastly, the area was great. It’s a five minute walk from the British museum, 15 minutes to King’s Cross station and close to many other spots.

There is nothing to say about the property, but the people can make or break a stay. I had a guy in my room that was very loud all night long, which was frustrating. But other than that, I have no complains.

Very close to everything and reception was open 24 hours, easy check in and check out experience. Reception also had a small selection on things you could buy like razors and soaps which I totally forgot about. Bunks had great privacy curtains (only one usb charging port though). They have free lockers if you wanted to leave your suitcases early :)

Showers were a bit small and had to specific changing area - was kinda hard to change. Mixed communal showers as well with only 2 sinks but it was doable. Had no issues with cleanliness. Lockers in the room were all unable to be locked but our roommates were really nice so we weren't too worried
