The hotel lives up to its description of a tranquil venue in a lovely setting by the River Tweed. We had a spacious room with a decent view and everything we needed. Although the television was tiny, fortunately we don’t watch it when away, but not good for someone who does. The staff were friendly and helpful. Reading some reviews I thought there might be too many dogs in the restaurant-not a place I feel they should be-but we only saw one well behaved dog under its owner’s table. Breakfasts were good but our first evening meal of chicken with haggis was tasteless, fish and chips the second night was much better. Prices were reasonable.

We enjoyed our stay at Dryburgh Abbey. It is a lovely hotel and the staff were very helpful. They happily provided a jug of fresh milk for our room, when we asked. The room was well organised with a view of the Tweed and a comfy bed. The breakfast menu had a range of choices that suited our needs. The hotel is not too far from the A68, with some lovely countryside to drive through, including the stunning view point known as 'Scott's View'.

From the minute we arrived...we found the atmosphere relaxed, welcoming and peaceful. Every member of staff we came across couldn't have been more helpful. The wood burning stove was regularly topped up, keeping the lounge area warm and inviting. We lounged on the comfortable sofa for hours whilst sipping drinks from the bar..Blissful! The food was excellent ... from dinner in the evening to breakfast. In particular, the vegetarian breakfast was fabulous. Parking was excellent..pleanty of room just outside. We had been there to attend a funeral at the nearby crematorium, and Dryburgh was a welcome haven from an otherwise emotional time. The hotel even provided us with printed instructions on how to get to the crematorium. The rooms were clean and cosy. We will definitely be back! Thank you for making our stay memorable and relaxing.

Only that we couldn't have stayed longer

Wonderful traditional hotel, clean and comfortable. Such fantastic grounds with the Abbey being seen from some rooms and the Tweed from others. Good food both in the evening and at breakfast. A great location to explore the Borders. Best of all are the staff - friendly, efficient and welcoming. It’s my go to hotel when I’m in the area!

Absolutely nothing!

Lovely old hotel with brilliant grounds for walking/ exercising dog ..... staff helpful

I was a bit confused by set up . There was a separate room for guests with dogs attending breakfast but when it came to dinner this was not the situation . Sadly my evening meal was spoiled by dogs misbehaving in restaurant and as a dog owner I found it disrespectful to guests who did not have dogs . Also upon walking my dog in grounds in morning I proceeded to walk in some dog muck that someone hadn't bothered to pick up . There was really no excuse for this as the hotel has several containers nearby to place it in . I would just say to owners of dogs , be mindful of other guests as you are lucky to have these facilities available .

Facilities were great with an excellent location. I had a very relaxing and comfortable stay. The bedroom was large, clean and had a lovely view of the river. The food was excellent and while the choice was slightly limited I was surprised at the outstanding quality and presentation. The bar had a good selection of malt whisky. A very enjoyable and relaxing stay.

The quality of service was average at best and the staff would benefit from additional training in customer service and awareness. The hotel was very busy and I thought they were understaffed but appreciate how difficult it is to recruit catering staff in remote locations. There appeared to be a lack of management or at least supervisory presence at breakfast and dinner.

Staff were really helpful. My sister left her watch in the room and within 2 emails, it was posted to me. So well done to the house keeping staff and reception! Location is stunning. Rooms are very comfortable. The pets room is smaller than the others and with not the best view compared to when I stayed with a friend without my dog, but it was clean and functional. Food is wholesome and well thought out due to being out in the countryside, with not many amenities close by. The bar has a great atmosphere.

Not much I didn't like.

A traditional hotel in a beautiful setting. We had a lovely two night stay for our wedding anniversary. The staff were very welcoming and friendly and had put an anniversary card in our room which was very thoughtful. We had booked a superior double but were upgraded to a third floor suite which was a large bedroom, bathroom and its own living room with TV, sofa and views. The bed was really comfortable and the room was warm and quiet with lovely views to the Tweed. Room was clean. Breakfast was excellent and we also had lunch one day (sandwiches and their own brewed lager which was excellent) and tasty evening meals both nights. Lots of choice on the menu and the food arrived quickly. The hotel has a lovely comfortable feel and its location is excellent for walks, exploring the local area and wildlife spotting - we were thrilled to see an otter and a leaping salmon in the river Tweed just downstream from the hotel!

The room decor was basic (magnolia) and the furniture was dated.

Beautiful hotel - very grand and lovely grounds - right by the abbey ruins and the river tweed .. plenty of parking and lovely hotel bar and sitting rooms - breakfast was excellent and all the staff were very helpful . The room we were initially given was tired dull and not at all what I expected from the photos advertised by booking.com but I asked to be moved and the staff were really helpful and put us in a much nicer room which was spacious - light with double aspect and small balcony .. the difference was enormous so I was very grateful -

The rooms are obviously of very different standards despite being the same price - some on the photos on booking.com have been refurbished but ours was not but thankfully we got the chance to have a better room . Everything else was lovely

I was there with my two kids for a wedding. The staff were polite and friendly, although, not trying to be critical, think they could have been a little more focused. However this may have been due to age and experience. There were no real concerns or issues and they were always polite and willing to help!

We were issued with a fold out “camp bed” for the 3rd member of the family, to go with the 2 single beds. The bed was an absolute disgrace! Not fit for purpose, no matter what age of adult or child was supposed to sleep on it!
