LOVE the decor, the lounge especially really captures the vintage Western vibe. The organic yogurt and granola breakfast was delicious! Staff were super friendly and accommodating and the Casper mattresses and pillows? Top notch. Also loved the gift shop vending machine concept that was a fun touch.
The location around the motel felt a little sketchy, I wouldn’t walk around from the motel.

The property is really nicely furnished, the staff are really nice and the general room elements are high quality (Casper pillows, nice decor, waterfall shower). Aircon and general amenities in room were good. Hits a really nice sweet spot of chic, comfortable and not too expensive.
Hard to access hot water for tea / coffee. No kettles or anything in rooms. You can get hot water in the lounge but this is only open till 10pmish and you have to ask someone for it. Reception closes at 10pm and doesn’t seem like there is an overnight person (only an emergency number to call), in this day and age is a little strange and we weren’t aware before arriving (fortunately we arrived before 10pm) No real food facilities on site, just a simple breakfast in the morning (but it was nice, they do also seem to have a nice partner restaurant)

Breakfast is great-plenty of fruit, low sugar yogurt, and killer granola! Yard is beautiful, and trees wonderful (especially the lovely fruit trees). Staff is great--helpful, friendly, accommodating. Playfulness of garden is wonderful. The kitchiness is fun.
Cost--we paid over $300 per night. We have stayed at other properties in the Bay Area, particularly Sonoma County, that had similar costs. We felt the other properties we have stayed at have had more amenities--for instance, I would have really loved some sort of simple storage option for clothing other than hanging things from the cluster of pegs. Also as far as cost --compared to a place we have enjoyed in Calistoga, which has similarly lovely grounds, has a spring-fed heated pool, with plenty of lounge chairs and cabanas, the cost is nearly exactly the same. The snack bag I opened (for $9, I think), when having a low blood sugar event, was stale. It was not a good surprise, though by no means that big of a deal.

We loved the property and it was in a great location! So close to old town/the train station area which we love! The courtyard was beautiful with all the citrus trees and statues. The room was cozy too and was very clean. The decor throughout the room and the lounge were so fun to look at. The little vending machine with fun like trinkets was ADORABLE and was one of my favorite things.
The only thing we didn’t like was that they advertised a “continental breakfast” but it was just yogurt, granola, coffee and fruit. Don’t get me wrong the granola was delicious, but that is not a continental breakfast.

We had the king suite which was very spacious and had a well-stocked kitchen! The room decor is fun/retro, and they were very creative in designing the landscaping/garden. The staff were very engaging both at the front desk and the lounge. The lounge itself has a very relaxing vibe, we enjoyed the morning conversations as we had coffee, yogurt and fruit and it was nice to know that we could gather there with our friends/fellow travelers for conversation and plan-making.
It would be nice to have a towel bar near the bathroom sink.

Really loved the retro furnishings in the room and property - like the breakfast lounge. Kudos to the tile style and installation in the bathroom. Rooms were very clean, and already had a few of our items we sent ahead of time. Staff was excellent and very helpful with a few of our forgotten items. The landscaping was inviting to hang out in, and thought the fruit trees was a very nice touch. We didn't take advantage of the bikes. But the location made easy walks to Spinster Sisters, Russian River Brewery and Jacksons bar & Over. Spinster Sisters was a standout. Overall, a great value too.
Consider adding a few baked goods, oatmeal with fixings to the breakfast.

We were coming home from a camping trip up in the Redwoods with our large Golden doodle and wanted to treat ourselves with a good meal and shower and somewhere where we could take our lovely Ella. They thought of everything. They had polished cement floors, and although Ella is fully house trained, it is great for any cleanup required. There is a beautiful park right next door that we took Ella to for her walk and bathroom breaks. On the other side of the property is a magnificent "real" Mexican Food Restaurant that was amazing. The staff were friendly and maintained the property really well. The Bed was comfortable and the bedding was really nice.
It would be nice to upgrade some of the towels to some larger ones, for the parents....

I always love staying at the Astro. The rooms are so funky and cute, statues around the garden and interesting art on the walls of each room. Love the queer friendly vibes. Love the vending machine with local artists work and other goodies. I joke that I stay there for the granola, but it might be true! The included breakfast is great. Parking is easy and it’s located close to all my Santa Rosa spots. The rooms are very clean. Water is hot, beds are comfy. Staff are super friendly, especially the night check in folks.
Only two things were less than ideal, but it’s very nit picky…there were no screens on the windows and I don’t like to use air conditioning- most people would just use the air con. Also, the mop cleaning solution smelled super strong like Fabuloso or Pin Sol? Not sure but the smell was very strong all night. It dissipated by morning a bit. If you’re sensitive to smells it might bother you.

Everything was perfect from start to finish! The entire property was an MCM lovers dreamland. The staff were all exceptionally friendly. They even went through the trouble of starting a fire in the giant fire pit for just us on our last night there. My husband loved talking with Matt each morning while he fixed our daily coffee and yogurt with granola (now I know what all the buzz is about with that granola! The best I've ever had). The grounds and guests were so quiet that we wondered if we were the only ones there at times. It abuts a beautiful park and is an easy walk to tons of restaurants (the Beer Baron was an amazing Whiskey Bar we visited more than once). We never really stay in one place for 4 days when we trave, but it was so nice having the Astro as a home base for all of our Sonoma and Napa adventures. For us, it was the perfect jumping off point for everything we had planned. We will definitely stay here again if we're ever in the area.

Upscale retro motel property that was an excellent value. I appreciated the little details from the extra slippers in the closet that could be used for the cement floors. To the umbrellas that were outside the lounge area when it started to rain. Those little things really were superb and even five star hotels would envy.
The property is a motel, so people should expect that to some degree in terms of the age of the property. However, because it is retro feeling, I don’t really think there was a downside to it for the price.
