Breakfast was very good with plenty of choices, including fresh breads. The coffee and tea were both good quality and in plentiful supply. The breakfast room was spacious with plenty of natural light. The bedroom was spacious, clean and well-equipped.

Nothing to complain about, really. For a small hotel, it is more than adequate. It even has a couple of surprise additions. The small jetty to jump into the lake from. There was even a well supplied games room for the whole family.

Thorbjornrud is an older hotel that has a couple of additions made to it. This is not a modern sleek hotel. It is the type of hotel that immerses one into the history of the location as well as the comfort of scandinavia. The hotel and especially the rooms were spotless. The beds were comfortable. The breakfast that was included was very good. There were many visitors the day we stayed so the chefs were scrambling to keep up, which to their credit, they did. Situated on a beautiful Norwegian lake, the hotel offers views and walking paths in all directions. We saw many people walking to the outdoor water recrecreation center that sits on the lake in a cove next to the hotel. The local people have a stronger constitution than I because it was only 16 degrees out and cloudy. It looked like fun though. A smart move on the owners part was to add glamping. Each of the glamping stations in set up on a wooden platform looking out to the water. They were full with families enjoying the long summer day and sunshine still at 10:30 pm. Thank goodness for the blockout curtains in my room. If I had more time in the area I would have enjoyed staying longer and taking in the surrounding community. If you have the opportunity to visit, you will be doing yourself a favor. Enjoy.

The additions are single floor long buildings that means one has a long walk to the room pulling suitcases. But that is not really a negative, just an obsertvation.

Big room with a lot of light, excellent breakfast (quality and quantity), the location is beautiful, the building is very interesting with artwork here and there

The location is great, calm close to the lake, nice surroundings and close to visit fantastic Kistefos museum! The staff was great, friendly and very helpful and helped me to upgrade my room in a very fast and efficient way. I had a very nice view from my room and breakfast was even though not many choices it has good quality :)

there isnt something particular i didnt like, perhaps some details in the rooms need to be upgraded, it feels somehow old in some aspects.

climate, place, you must go around the area. Note - there is an identical address in Oslo (!) and when copying the address from booking to google maps, navigation leads to ... Oslo

the only weakness was the terrible soundproofing between the twin rooms with numbers of "a" and "b". Every single word was heard, waking up in one room meant waking up in another and involuntarily participating in discussions of the neighbors. luckily they didn't have sex all night ;)

Friendly and accommodating staff. We booked 30 minutes before we arrived (at 20:30 on a Saturday). The restaurant was about to close but they still managed to serve us, the food was full of flavour and delicious, felt like fine dining. Great staff, both in the reception and in the restaurant. Comfortable beds, clean room and quiet. Breakfast was splendid! I highly recommended this hotel. The park outside was lovely.

A sauna for rainy days in Norway would round off the offer perfectly.

Good location close to the Kistefos Museum, comfortable room with a nice garden view, great breakfast. The hotel itself has beautiful surroundings. Parking available at the location.

You can hear pretty much from the room next door.

This was an unexpected surprise. The building lands on a flat hill who is 50mts from the beach,surrounded by green areas and very peaceful.We had a quiet and sunny room on the backyard and we really enjoyed the big windows, the calm and the room size,a little superior than the average and then,more comfortable.The bathroom is essential but functional, everything worked properly.The day after we enjoyed a wide choice for our breakfast in the restaurant hall.It definetely was a happy choice between our hadeland glassverk visit and the very very near Kistefos Museet with his stunning mix of modern art and wild. The reception service was also very nice to find us a room with 2 single beds as last minute request,thank you!

As in many not recently update structures,i would suggest to update the tv with internet connection ones for those who have children or want to spend a movie night during their stop over.But really,this is not essential for fast stops like mine

The staff was wonderful! They even re-opened the kitchen to let us eat dinner! The hotel itself is stunning but also feels homey. The hot breakfast was also excellent (eggs, meat, waffles, yogurt, fruit etc. The room and bed was also very comfortable.
