Lovely Stay – Clean, Spacious & Comfy! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ We stayed at Hotel 52 and were really impressed with how spotlessly clean and spacious the room was. It was also very quiet, and the bed was really comfy, making for a great night’s sleep. We brought our dog along and paid a £15 pet fee, which was reasonable. One tip: make sure to read the check-in email carefully—we didn’t, and ended up a bit confused when we arrived. Other than that, it was a pleasant stay and we’d happily return—just with a clearer plan for dining!

There’s a restaurant on-site called Rangos, which we were really looking forward to. We checked with hotel staff beforehand and were told dogs were allowed in the lounge area only, so we went in and ordered drinks. Unfortunately, we were politely told by restaurant staff that dogs weren’t allowed at all, so we had to cut our visit short and leave, which was a bit disappointing.

The breakfast was amongst the best of what we have had and was seriously good. The blonde lady that served us was very friendly and brilliant at her job. The welcome that we got when we arrived was lovely and absolutely told us that we had made the right choice straight away. The whole place was immaculately clean (bar the windows), smelt great and our room was spacious and bright. The location is really close to everything we needed and if we had stayed in a nearby hotel that was more than twice the price, we would have been left very annoyed.

The lighting in the bathroom and the fan did not work but that's being really picky.

The booking was easy to do - collections of keys and checking in prior to arrival was easy to do, and whilst there isn’t someone there 24 hours they have hours in the day there is someone available to help. The rooms were big for me and my husband and 2 teenagers. My parents had a similar room and my daughter and her partner had a double which also was adequate for them for the night. The breakfast was amazing in Rangos and the staff in there were very accommodating. Rooms were clean and upto date - probably inline with a larger chain of hotels. Walls are thin but the other guest was respectful once it hit 9pm! We all stayed for 2 nights as we attended a wedding at south Causey with was 2 min in a taxi.

If I was to critic one thing, it would be Mirrors - Please could you fit mirrors into the rooms itself near a plug - as this created a few issues trying to get ready especially attending a wedding - didn’t effect our stay.

Hotel 52 was very clean and comfortable, Pillows were rather lumpy. Though. Shower was spacious and lovely hot water. Food served at Rangos next door to the hotel was good . Potions were on the large side, but very reasonably priced. Staff were very friendly and accommodating.. Very well situated for visiting Beamish Museum..

The hotel is built on a housing estate and being overlooked by bungalows around May put people off. Stanley itself doesn't have much to offer visitors. It seemed very run down.

The staff were kind and thoughtful and the room was clean, warm and comfortable. The carpark was close by. There is a gym downstairs and a restaurant next door. I slept well and felt safe and relaxed.

There was some confusing over breakfast: I booked for 4 people, but there was only breakfast for 2. The manager explained that this was not their fault and that it was booking.com website. I think that you have to specify in your booking how many people are having breakfast. As I booked two twin rooms, I though that it was obvious there would be 4 people for breakfast, but not so.

The hotel is a budget hotel trying to not have staff to check you in which was a bit strange but it worked OK for us on the day. Security on the building could be better as this hotel is currently housing homeless alcoholics. Apart from.this we had a.good clean comfortable stay. We got lucky I do believe from ready previous reviews regarding the homeless drop-outs ......

The security feel to the building and in the car park at the side cars come and go at all hours fetching alcohol and other things to they homeless 'needy' that are currently staying there.

Very clean and comfortable. Tea and coffee facilities provided. Room was warm and the bed was large and comfortable. The hotel felt secure with electronic fob access to the bedroom corridor. The adjoining restaurant provided an excellent breakfast and, on the Wednesday evening, an excellent evening meal. It was closed on the Tuesday evening. Highly recommended and reasonably priced.

Main gripe (but not a show stopper) is the digital registration and lack of a receptionist at check in. The email containing the information to access the room had gone straight into my 'spam' folder. We had to phone the number displayed in reception and hope that someone would answer. Fortunately they did and we got into our room pretty quickly. Minor gripe, room 12, the heated towel rail in the bathroom was turned off. Ok, it was warm enough but when I tried to turn it on to dry towels, it was obvious it has a water leak and I turned it off immediately.

Stayed here after attending a wedding at South Causey Inn. I received an email to the key box with a code so was able to get into our room. We didn't see any staff so can't comment on that & literally got a taxi to and from the hotel back to my car. The beds were comfortable and the room was clean.

We stayed in room 7 and the TV came on, on its own in the middle of the night! Apart from that, a good night's sleep. There are 2 single beds and a double but only 3 hangers on a rail so not sure where a family would hang their clothes if they needed to.

Great welcome from the reception and a free upgrade given. Apartment room is spacious and very clean. Nice choice of teas and coffees. Breakfast in the adjoining restaurant was very good but it was closed the night we arrived.

Mattress was extremely uncomfortable with a massive sag in the middle. Although central to the town there is nowhere decent to eat and drink within walking distance, had to get a taxi to nearby village for a decent pub with food. The attached restaurant was closed the night we stayed. Needs a shower mat in bathroom.

Ease of access to my room. Information given for key code. Bathroom was stylish and clean Rangos restaurant was fantastic. Lovely decor. Lovely, tasty food. The communal lounge was comfy and stylish. Love the little mini sofas for children!

There was no mirror in the bedroom to do hair and makeup. No full-length mirror to check attire when getting ready to go out. Had to keep the blinds down in the bedroom for privacy and dignity. Felt uncomfortable using the bathroom in the evening with the light on as there were no blinds for dignity. Paper coffee cups in the bathroom?!. The leather armchair and sofa were dusty and unclean with hair and crumbs in the corners. Ironing board provided was rickety and unsafe. Only 4 hangers on a rail to hang coat and clothing.
