The whole experience was excellent. The rooms are beautiful, the gardens closest to the house and restaurant were full of wonderful planters and a riot of colour. The stables, restaurant, cafe, bar The food is tasty, good quality and value for money with great attention to detail. The selection of cakes and pies in the cafe it would be hard to find better anywhere. The staff are friendly and attentive, the management obviously provides a good work environment which shows in the staff's care of each other and the guests. This is the best hotel experience I have had, and I have stayed in some of the UK best. Thank you and congratulations to all the staff.

I think the breakfast is a good standard of hotel food, the price reflects the quality of the hotel rather than the food itself as you'd expect a good quality butchers sausage/bacon etc.. for the standard of hotel. The hotel itself is beautiful and well cleaned. My cousin and I both said the main reception area could do with something grand adding, making it more inviting and giving it the wow factor as you walk in. I think the building deserves it as is steeped in history, and you'd expect it due to the effort put into maintaining the beautiful floral grounds (just a personal opinion) The staff were all polite and well trained in their jobs they kept on top of everything throughout the day/evening of the wedding holding a polite and attentive attitude, same as all of the staff over at the stables. Thank you for making it a special day for Tom, Jack and guests.

stayed for 2 nights from 1st June 2025.The reception staff were extremely welcoming .The building and grounds were beautiful. situated down a country lane about 15 minutes from Durham centre.Beds were sooo comfortable. The Stables restaurant was amazing we had a meal there ..couldn't eat it all .excellent value and very tasty breakfast excellent .many choices .. I would love to stay there again. I have stayed in many hotels and even a castle in Scotland and this place is my No.1 ...I highly recommend this place you will not be disappointed...we stayed in a deluxe twin room..

plugs were all on one wall near the TV and chest off draws but we always take an extension lead for 4 plugs .Ie ..hairdryer ..tongs mobile phone chargers ...apart from this ..I couldn't fault anything.

The hotel was very pleasant , the staff customer care was excellent . The room was very comfortable and clean and beautifully decorated. The Stables restaurant was very nice and meals served were delicious. The view from the window was gorgeous. Bed was very comfortable , had a good night's sleep.Breakfasts delicious.

The shower in the room was not accommodating for disabled people if they needed their carer to support them bathing. Also, the lift was not large enough to hold a wheelchair , so a bath chair had to be used to bring a disabled person down in the lift . This is not really a safe practice to use for a disabled person.

Very stylish building and easy parking. Close to Beamish Museum. The room was traditionally furnished with plenty of hanging space for two nights clothes etc. lovely big windows with a view. Not high end luxury, but very friendly and welcoming. Stables restaurant was excellent for breakfast and dinner. Great care taken towards food allergy needs.

In room 215 you could hear some noise from nearby rooms: plumbing and TV/ music on occasion. The bathroom was really hot all the time even though the heating was off.

There was a graduation dance that was going on during my stay. They had a carnival ride in the parking lot that ran till 11pm. I was not bothered by the noise in fact enjoyed their celebration. Room was quite comfortable.

It was quite warm during my stay and the only comfort was a portable fan (a box fan that could be put in the window would have been much better. The WIFI was very weak. I had planned to walk to the Beamish museum, but it proved to be farther away than anticipated. Very good stay all in all.

the room was clean and bed was really comfortable. the dinner at the restaurant was amazing and the breakfast had a number of options you could choose from.

the walls are quite thin and there seemed to be a party going on until around 12/1am which kept us up (the music was quite loud). I understand hotels hold functions so we didn't complain and hoped it finish early but it finished later than we thought. We'd recommend that the hotels warn you of this or put you in rooms that are further away from the functions.

The room was lovely and there was plenty of space to move around as well for me to store my things. The bed was comfortable and there were plenty of pillows, different thicknesses, which made it easy to get comfortable when sitting and watching the TV or sleeping. The bathroom was probably my favourite part though! It looked clean and fancy and the water pressure in the shower was amazing! It was the best shower I've had in a long time. All in all, the room was very clean and extremely comfortable.

The only downside for me was the noise level. As the room keys have metal room numbers attached, it meant that other guests couldn't help but make a lot of noise when locking/unlocking their doors, which woke me up once or twice. Also, the window in my room was over a sort of alleyway which amplified the noise of people passing, and unfortunately this area seemed pretty busy between 9 and 11pm, which made it difficult for me to get an early night. However, these were relatively small issues and I wouldn't let it put me off booking a stay in the future.

We loved the new cafe that has been opened. Lunch was very good and great value for the money. There is now a lovely counter where you can buy cakes, pies and even loaves of bread. We always stay here when we go to the cricket at Durham as it's in a brilliant setting and the staff are always very helpful and cheerful. There was a large wedding party staying this time, but the hotel was still quiet, calm and very relaxing.

There isn't anything to not like. That's why we have stayed here at least 3 times now.

From start to finish this weekend getaway was superb, from the warm welcoming from Julie & jasmine at the front desk when booking in the location was fantastic, the rooms were big & clean the bar staff in the stables were friendly, welcoming it was just so relaxing it's what me & my wife needed. ALL staff from top to bottom make this hotel such a superb well run facility its a no brainer book & see for yourself we've only just got back & are trying to work out new dates to go back. The food is exquisite
