The breakfast was superb. One had the full English and one had the Continental. We enjoyed a lovely evening meal on the first night and lunches during the two days we stayed. We walked around the venue admiring the Wedding Venue and the beautiful grounds including the superb lavender field. The staff are wonderfully friendly, providing for our every need or request. An amazing place to stay. We would thoroughly recommend a visit. We will be returning at some point. Thank you for making a 70th Birthday very Special! Kindest regards to all.

Excellent location for visiting Beamish museum. Fantastic large room and bathroom with a huge round copper bath. Ground floor rooms easily accessible for disabled people. The rooms are fitted out to a high standard and very clean. Probably the best value for money accommodation we have stayed in.

Was originally booked into a first floor room which wasn't suitable for a disabled person due to the steps for access. I also didn't like the fact that they tried to automatically add a 10% service charge to meals, I was taking my meal back to my room so refused to pay it. This is also a wedding venue so might be very busy at times, so best to check if there is a wedding reception beforehand although the grounds have a marquee for the weddings.

Excellent location,close to Beamish Museum. Very pleasant staff and well appointed, clean accommodation. The bed was very comfortable and the large copper bath was amazing. For classic car enthusiasts there are two excellent showrooms nearby. The hotel provides a delicious breakfast with a variety of options. The views from the conservatory were beautiful.Would definitely recommend a stay here.

Cottage was on the ground floor and was very warm in the hot weather. The staff however provided a fan.Had clear windows in bathroom so had to leave the blinds down for privacy making it difficult to open the windows to ventilate the cottage.

food very good and staff were very helpful and pleasant. The room (the cedar) was a very good size, bed very very comfortable both of us slept very well. bath and shower fabulous. Even with these minor issues listed below we had lovely stay and would come back again.

Disappointed with check in and out, no one available, even after ringing the bell! Both times we had to go to the bar. bathroom was lovely but didn’t suit us with it being open plan, no door! ( not something everyone is comfortable with), sink and tap were a triumph of form over function, window Blind in bathroom had to stay closed all the time as it was clear glass not frosted/opaque so neighbours and anyone in the gardens could see straight in. Impossible to fill the Kettle unless you use the bath…. not ideal.

Everything was amazing. The "room" turned out to be a new build one room bungalow with large walk-in-shower ensuite. Everything was immaculate and like new. Top luxury bed, tea/coffee facilities, phone charging sockets everywhere. Private parking was perfect right outside the door. We had an excellent Sunday Lunch in the bar washed down with a perfect pint of hand pulled Timothy Taylors Landlord on fine fettle. Staff were extremely attentive and efficient. Service was very very quick despite it being the hottest Sunday in the middle of summer and absolutely packed with customers. Breakfast was equally impressive with swift service and great choices of excellent food.

What can we say!. What a find. We truly couldn't believe we had landed here. It is like a beautiful little hamlet with a row of cottages that has very cleverly been designed into little en suite apartments. The workmanship and quality were exceptional.No stone had been left unturned. If you wish for something unique, you have found it here. The staff were very reliable and happy in their work.and couldn't do more to help. I can't rate this high enough and would highly recommend. I would just like to say that we unexpectedly booked for one night but ended up booking for two because we didn't want to book anywhere else. It would have been unmatched because the standard was so high

Had a fantastic stay at The Black Horse and genuinely couldn’t fault a thing. Right from the moment we arrived, the staff were warm and welcoming. When we realised our fridge wasn’t working, they went above and beyond to try and resolve the issue, and we really appreciated the effort they put in. The food was excellent, and our room was extremely comfortable, making it a very relaxing stay. If I had to mention one small detail, it would be the design of the handbasin in the bathroom; the tap could be a bit taller, as it’s a little awkward to wash your hands without bumping into the basin. Overall, though, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would absolutely recommend it to others.

Rooms were pure luxury, everything you could need and stunningly furnished. Bed was so comfy, great quality sheets and the copper bathtub left me speechless. Robes provided, fluffy towels, coffee machine and good quality toiletries. The balcony with a view for your coffee in the morning was very special. Bar lovely, good selection of food but some healthier / lighter options might be considered. Wine list is good and staff were very friendly. There is a 10% service charge added to all bills, not a problem for me as the service was great. Location was perfect, will definitely return to Beamish - perhaps with the family next time

It was spacious and unique. Loved having a private entrance with a terrace and beautiful views. The room was huge and a lot of thought had gone into guest comfort in this area. The restaurant and bar are nice and the staff were really friendly and helpful. There is ample car parking and the place is spotlessly clean.

The bathroom! Looked lovely but is really style over substance. The basin is so stylised you can’t actually get your hands under the tap to wash, and as lovely as the copper bath is, no thought has been given to where you’re supposed to put your stuff - shampoo, soap etc. the bathroom window is not frosted and is open to anyone passing so the blind has to be kept shut, there is also no door, there are curtains which give a small degree of privacy but really aren’t adequate.

The rooms and location were fantastic, the copper bath in the room was lovely, perfect for a quiet romantic get away!

Breakfast was included in the price, the cooked breakfast was amazing however the country table that was advertised there was nothing left. I asked if there was any more pastries which there wasnt and then asked if there was any orange juice as only apple juice was there and that had ran out too however on the way out the fridge in the bar did have some orange juice in it. Other than this everything else was great.
