What a great little hotel. Had everything that we needed for our stay. Room was comfortable and clean, shower/toilet was well presented, clean and modern. We slept well. Balcony door could be left open at night for fresh air and the night time city noises of life. Tea/Coffee making facilities along with TV (French only channels) and Fridge. Great location for all transport hubs. Short walk to the sea front. 25/35 minute walk from hotel to Nice Old Town. Would definitely recommend if your main purpose is to travel to other parts via mainline trains. Staff were very friendly and helpful from the moment we arrived. Free tea and coffee making facilities in the a dining area near the reception which, after a long day walking was nice to come back to. Overall very good/excellent.

Only one thing we found disappointing, and we felt needed to be pointed out to the reception on leaving, was that the shower did run very hot and then cold while showering. It was occasionally dangerously hot. Would be worried if a young child was to use un supervised . Was told that this would be checked out and fixed.

Friendly and helpful staff. Lots of great facilities. Coffee and tea making facilities in room and mini fridge. Downstairs there is a water machine with sparkling and flat water to refill bottles as well as a hot drink machine and biscuits. Also games to play. The hotel can lend you Parasols and mats for the beach. The beds had Comfy pillows and everything very clean. Thank you

When our room was cleaned they did not give us clean mugs or new tea bags, coffee or milk. I think the breakfast is too expensive, maybe offer a la carte as well as set breakfast in case someone only wants a yoghurt and a piece of fruit. Or just a cross pint and a coffee

Wow. For a fairly humble hotel, this lovely place aces what matters: stylish, really comfy bed, lovely linens, well designed bathroom, good shower, loo roll and toiletries, kettle and drinks, free cold water and coffee in foyer, great aircon, good lift, lovely range of tasty breakfast buffet, friendly helpful staff and excellent wifi. Plug socket near bed. Only minor improvement, like most hotels still, would be a usb charge point, but hey, this hotel is as close to perfect as a five star!

my stay was too short

We really enjoyed our breakfast each morning. A lovely selection of cereals, cheeses, fresh fruit salad, juices, bakery items, hot food etc. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The bedroom was a little on the small size but was adequate, the bed was very comfortable and the room was quiet. The hotel is located across the road from the station where we travelled on day trips to Cannes etc. Buses and tram 2 minutes from hotel servicing Monaco and other destinations. Tram can also be boarded at airport to reach hotel. Hotel Villa Bougainville is non-corporate and therefore the interior design is unique. The building is of art deco structure with lift to all floors and the colour scheme is blue/green throughout which was quite vibrant and gave the hotel a quirky pleasant theme. Complementary filtered water and hot drinks were also offered.

The staff were very kind and went above and beyond to help me be comfortable and have what I need. The beds were extremely soft and fluffy and comfortable. They have a system of help-yourself water which I greatly appreciated as I drink a lot of water and hate asking hotels for bottles of water over and over.

The only possible thing I could complain about it how narrow the entrance to the room is. It made it challenging to get all of my stuff in, but honestly that is the only possible thing I could whine about and I don't think it's something they have much choice in, considering the building's layout. It would not prevent me from staying there again. Annoying? yes. Dealbreaker? Absolutely not.

Very stylish, cosy hotel. The rooms was small and the bathroom even smaller, but everything was functional. Water fountain as well as free coffee and tea available for guests in the lobby, where there is also more room and better lightning than in the rooms. If you don't plan to spend a lot of time in the room, it's a good choice.

The location close to the train station is both an advantage and disadvantage, as it can get noisy very early in the morning.

The staff were absolutely amazing! They were always happy to help,nothing to big or small,they always dealt with any request with ease. The hotel itself is situated in a great location, and in walking distance of shops,bars, restaurants,trams,trains and the beach.

Room was a little bit smaller than expected and I found that the stairs going up to the different floors were quite dusty,could do with a vacuum at least once a week.

Nice is not a too big city. In 20 minutes you can walk downtown. Should you travel to Monaco or somewhere else by train, the train station is very close. Even though the rooms are not new, the colours and the style of the room hides it very well. It looked nice and I felt comfortable there. A breakfast was good enough.

Dishes at breakast sometimes need to be exchanged because not perfectly washed. Also in WC at check-in: I saw that it was cleaned, but somebodies hair (maybe of a personal) was there. I also managed to cut a finger staying there for 2 nights. Late evening went to reception but they did not have any basic plaster to patch it. I would expect any hotel to have some basic medicine box for emergency cases or cases like mine.

Great location, room was comfortable, breakfast was great and the staff were very pleasant. They received us with a drink and let us check in early as the room was ready. Hot drinks and water were available 24/7 from reception and there were always little snacky bits with the drinks.

The room was on the smaller side and the shower was a bit too small; walls seemed to be a bit thin as you could hear late arrivals to the other rooms.

Considering the purpose of my trip and the use of the room exclusively for sleeping, I can say that everything was good, especially the proximity to the train station suited me. The breakfast buffet exceeded my expectations. From the first contact upon arrival, they "bought" me to visit them again if the opportunity/need arises...

For two nights, the hotel's guests included a group of younger Chinese who did not respect house rules, they gathered in the corridor and rooms after midnight... but the reception reacted and resolved the situation
