I stayed for a full week at the Kings Head and everything was perfect. The staff and management bent over backwards to make me feel welcome and to help me out with anything. It was a great experience to stay in such an historic pub and inn in a lovely town. Plumbing was really up to date with nice showers and plenty of hot water. Bed was comfortable. The included breakfast provided many options from cereal and fruit to hot porridge to full English breakfast--nicely presented and gratiously served. Yes, the floors squeak and it can be a bit noisy on Friday and Saturday--as I have read in some reviews. But if that is something that is going to bother you, don't stay here--save the historic experience in an historic building over an historic pub for someone who can appreciate it. Note: even on noisy nights, everything quiets down fairly early.

Nice big rooms and where we were at the back of the Pub it was nice and quiet, lovely bar downstairs with a great cooked breakfast served in the morning and meals available during the day/evening, Parking available out the back, but we occasionally had to park on the street due to limited spaces.
We had 3 tv's as my mum and my partners uncle also stayed in 2 other rooms for 1 night, our Tv couldn't pick up "normal" stations, which wasn't too bad as we could at least watch Netflix and Youtube, Mums Tv didn't work at all, and the Uncles tv had a broken screen so had sound only, luckily there was lots to see in the area so we didn't need the tv's I guess

Lovely stay in the family room , the room was large , lean and well equipped . The staff were excellent and friendly . We had a dog with us and it really wasn’t a problem . We ate in the restaurant and all round the food was really nice . They have a live act on a Friday night , it was an ABBA tribute band , it was a nice atmosphere and the music didn’t sound too loud in the room once we left the bar. Breakfast is pre ordered the night before and was very good , hot and freshly cooked .
More plug sockets in the room would be great , perhaps usb plugs , but an older building so not expected .

The staff were friendly and the room was nice. The bed was comfy and the facilities were good. We got chatting with other people staying there and made friends with a Welsh choir which was great.
We didn't realise before we got there that our room was separated from another room by just a door. I guess sometimes families book both rooms which would be handy in that case, but we wanted a romantic break away from our kids, and we could hear people talking in the next room and at one point the other guests kept trying the handle to get in, so that was a bit unsettling. Not the romantic break we had planned.

If you want to step back in time to the Good Old Days, then this is what this pub is about! Customer service with a smile, old beams, character furniture, and creaky floors. Even the music brought back memories of my youth! The bedroom was comfortable, spotlessly clean, and there was plenty of hot water. My dog was welcomed warmly. In fact, dogs were welcomed throughout the village! The menu was varied, with a good choice, and I found the food to be delicious. I only stayed for one night as I was passing through Wales, and I'm so glad I did!
Personally, I would have liked the bedroom to be a bit brighter, but I suppose that could have detracted from the character.

Very friendly staff. The evening meal was delicious, I had fish and chips and my husband had a mixed grill. Good value for money. Drinks are reasonably priced. Great atmosphere. This is an old pub with very traditional features. Parking is great, and easy to get to. Four poster beds in room 19 were stunning. Clean gleaming bedding and good-quality towels. Good complimentary package of refreshments and bathroom items. The shower is lovely and powerful, with nice hot water.
The bedroom could do with a freshen up such areas missed while cleaning inside of the TV cabinet and bathroom corners. But it wasn't unclean and the bedding was beautiful crisp clean white. Carpets could do with an update, but understand that it's the decor of the room.
