Great location near the dock. Several restaurants on site. It was busy during the day but was wonderfully calm in the evening. The Viking Room was cool but a bit impractical. (See below)
The Viking Rooms have a huge skylight. Those skylights on the other side of the circular building must have offered spectacular views of the nearby waterfalls. However, our room faced the ferry parking lot. The security lights illuminated our room all night long.

In our opinion, this is the best hotel in the area! We were greeted with a wonderful surprise upon arrival, they had upgraded our room for free. Thank you for this kind gesture! The hotel is beautifully designed with a Viking theme and offers breathtaking views of the Nærøyfjord. Our room was spotless, thoughtfully decorated, and filled with charming details. Falling asleep while watching the rain through the glass ceiling was an unforgettable and romantic experience. The breakfast was exceptional, with a wide variety of delicious options. One of the highlights was the fresh dough they provide, allowing you to make your own perfect waffle. The only hiccup was that a staff member observed us in a way that made us feel as if we were doing something wrong and questioned us, which felt a bit uncomfortable. In such a beautiful hotel, we would have expected guests to be treated with more kindness. This happened when we returned after checking out to explore the area and buy some souvenirs. It was clearly a misunderstanding, but it still left us feeling a little disappointed. Despite this, we had a wonderful stay.

The location was perfectly situated in the fjord. The room was clean and accessible by road and by boat. The view from the room was breath-taking, and we could watch a waterfall from the mountain side. The continental breakfast was good and dinner at the restaurant was excellent. Hiking/boating/kayaking are very accessible, and just across from the rooms, there is a playground and the viking village attraction.
The room has a skylight, which I loved, however during the summer the residual sunlight kept the room a little bright. My husband would have preferred an optional shade for the night. The room retained heat and did have the option to keep a window open as well as a fan, but if you keep the window or the door open, privacy is difficult because the room opens to walking paths and the privacy for the rooms comes from curtains in front of the door.

We had a great experience at Gudvangen Fjordtell. We were upgraded for free to the Viking Room which had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The location of the hotel is spectacular, at the foot of the fjord and with towering mountains and waterfalls surrounding it. The Viking Village is literally across the stream and only a 5 minute walk away and certainly worth a visit. The main road for is also very close by if you need to catch a bus from there. There is a restaurant and souvenir shop attached to the hotel. The food was good and there was a huge variety available at the breakfast buffet. We would recommend a stay here.

We stayed in a two bedroom apartment which was very comfortable and well appointed. Being early November, it was not crowded and we felt like we had the entire place to ourselves. The food in the main restaurant was very good as was the breakfast. The staff were very friendly and accommodating, even allowing us some extra time to check out so we could visit the Viking Village next door. The surrounds of the hotel is breathtakingly beautiful with the fjord and waterfalls . Loved it and recommend.
We loved it all. It may not be appropriate for people with accessibility issues but there are other room types which may cater to these needs.

This hotel is situated amongst a stunning natural environment. We stayed in a Viking-styled room adding to our experience. The hotel is conveniently located to hike trails, kayak rent and scenic fjord cruises. There is a fantastic seafood restaurant on site.
The location comes with a price as there are many tour groups come to visit the Viking village and the place. Though the hikes we went on were quiet and tranquil and we enjoyed a trip to nearby Bakka. So there is a chance to escape the crowds. The large glass door of our room was overlooking the pedestrian bridge so we truly didn’t have much privacy. The view from the ceiling window was beautiful (overlooking the falls) and we wished the lounge chairs or the bed were better located in the room to enjoy the view. Having more hooks in the bathroom and the bath mat would have been handy.

Our family of 8 stayed in the Bryggen House at the Gudvangen Fjordtell. I had paid for an "apartment with balcony" but it was an actual house. It was absolutely darling. It had been recently renovated. It was very clean. The beds and bedding were comfortable. The house was delightful with fun touches to make it feel special. Very Scandinavian. We ate dinner and bought ice cream and pastries at the bakery/pizzeria. Our favorite pizza was the one with the mushrooms and carmelized onions. So good! We didn't go to the Viking Village, but we hiked nearby and took the fjord cruise. The breakfast at the hotel was excellent. It was an awesome experience. If you're planning to take the fjord cruise (which is absolutely AMAZING), this is a great place to sleep the night before, as you are right next to the dock.
Not a thing. It was fabulous.

Everything about this place exceeded my expectations. Best location possible, right next to the Viking Valley. Stayed here for 3 nights and it was the best vacation of my life. Having been born and raised in a city, the opportunity to live in the fjords and surrounded by nature that words cannot describe has been absolutely phenomenal. Spent a couple days at the Vikings Village too and took the fjord cruise from the hotel. Location and its surrounding is top notch. Huge must for Viking fanatics. Created an Instagram account just to capture my stay there @vikingsolotrip
That I didn't book for longer and pull the trigger on this trip earlier

The location was amazing! You open the door to breathtaking landscapes and views and everything feels so peaceful. The room had all the basics and the breakfast had a decent variety with the nice touch of being able to make your own waffles! There were also two restaurants and a cafe just a few meters away from the rooms with unexpectedly good quality of food. Overall, a very pleasant stay!
It was lovely to have a glass rooftop for the view, but it would have been nice to have the option of some curtain or shatter because the light came in too early.

The location is indescribable and makes staying here absolutely worth it. The views are breathtaking from every angle. The room was comfortable and a good size with plenty of room to spread out compared to other hotels we stayed in on our trip. The breakfast buffet was average, as to be expected, but the waffles were incredible! There is a little cafe on site that had great coffee, pastries, and pizzas (even gluten-free & vegetarian options, which was a nice surprise!). Staff members were welcoming, friendly, and helpful.
It was hard to darken the room before going to sleep due to the hours of sunlight the area gets in mid-May. There is a sky light that does not have any shade/coverage, so the room remained bright throughout the night. The view through the sky light was incredible, nonetheless.
