Excellent location, great breakfast buffet with fresh vegetables and fruits, fish and meats—lots of variety. Comfortable bed and pillows. Lovely rose garden. 2 minute walk to train and ferry (electric slow ferry highly recommended ) good staff. Loved the shower, it was like getting a hot massage. Also loved smelling the clean air in Flam and around the fjords. There are very few smokers.

Historic room had no tv. Buffet dinner above our price range—$67 each. Not much shelf space or drawers for clothes. The price of the room was over $400. We would stay there again because of the location— beware it’s Norway and it rains a lot.

Brilliant location, lots of lounges and places to have a coffee, read a book and take in the view of the fjords. Breakfast was lovely extensive options, taking into the limited options in the local area I would recommend anyone staying here to book breakfast. We had dinner here one night, again it was lovely options are limited if you have dietary requirements but again given the limited options in the local area over winter, I would recommend pre-booking your first dinner at the hotel. I think that we had been upgraded, we had a lovely twin room with a glass balcony/view of the fjords, it was beautiful! Nice touch offering complimentary coffee all day in the lobby.

The comfort of the room and facilities of the bathroom. Bathroom facilities were extremely limited, very few toiletries provided and the bare minimum towels provided, not useful when your washing your hair, needing to take makeup off too etc. No phone in the room to ring down to reception either. We had to ask for extra pillows, normally two pillows are offered per guest, not one and the first night stay was extremely uncomfortable.

The room was cozy. I loved the bay window space in the room.

A wonderful traditional hotel with a warm and friendly reception area. It's so easy to get to whether you come by train, ferry or car. The room was spacious and the bed was very, very comfortable. Breakfast was excellent and you can get a table facing the fjord. The hotel staff were friendly and efficient. A short walk takes you to a beautiful waterfall, the Brekkefossen. There's also a great cycle ride down the valley after Flam railway ride and Kjosfossen.

The only shortfall in our experience at the Fetheim was the bath shower. As I get older I feel less secure in these facilities and although I had requested, at short notice, a walk in shower one was not available. They were apologetic.

A great choice especially if you are travelling with elderly people, without a car and for a few nights. It's right in the center and with great views. The staff were very helpfull, friendly and professional. The breakfast was one of the most rich breakfasts i have seen in a hotel, with lots of local food and varieties. The room and bathroom were spacious, beautifully decorated, comfortable and quiet. Even the halls were beautifully decorated. Cosy and elegant. And the main area where you could sit for a cup of coffee or a drink in the lobby was the best i have seen in a hotel... All and all a great stay! Disliked · Nothing

It was a bit pricey but it's logical since it has the monopoly in the area but the level of quality is excellent, so it's worth it!

Beautiful hotel in a charming town. It is a very small town, but the hotel is still close to everything. Very convenient to the dock for our ferry travel, plus the central part of the town and train platform. We rented bicycles from the self-serve kiosk near the visitor center, and were able to explore more of Flam on bicycle. So fun! It has the most beautiful countryside. When showing pictures to friends, one comment we heard was that it's so pretty, it looks fake. LOL. Breakfast was delicious with lots of variety. The bathroom was so beautiful with heated floors! Plenty of counter space to spread out a little with hair and makeup stuff. Not important to some, but so nice to have for women, at least this woman. Easier to work with than just a pedestal sink. The staff was lovely and helpful, especially with storing our luggage. Even after we had checked out, spent a night in Balestrand, and came back to Flam waiting for our train to Oslo, the staff was so kind in letting us store our luggage so we could again rent bicycles, explore more of Flam, and then catch our train.

It's pricey, the most expensive of our vacation, but it's a very small town with lots of tourists, so that is to be expected. We stayed at less expensive places during our Scandinavian trip, and though all were lovely, the Fretheim was our luxurious splurge. No other place was as lovely as the Fretheim.

Amazing location in Flåm. Beautiful surroundings right in the fjord. Would recommend staying in this area. The room was good, we liked that we had outdoor seating so we could sit outside in the sun. Breakfast was good as well, we liked they had vegetarian and vegan options as well! We also rented biked right across the street. There is a supermarket nearby and the boat and train go conveniently from there.

It was pricey (as are most things in Norway). It was hard to find good dinner for vegetarians in the area. We did miss a good sized fridge in the room or some cutlery (we did borrow it from the reception). The hotel could use a bit of an upgrade in the rooms.

From the moment I arrived, the staff were incredibly helpful, kind, and attentive, making me feel truly welcome. The room was spotless, beautifully designed, and offered a stunning view that took my breath away every morning. The breakfast was exceptional—fresh, delicious, and with plenty of variety to suit every taste. The overall atmosphere of the hotel was warm, relaxing, and perfectly suited for leisure. The building itself is very impressive, a nice balance between modern and traditional, beautiful facilities. The common areas are cozy, there's complementary coffee that you can enjoy near a fireplace with a stunning view over the fjord. Most importantly, the breakfast was way beyond our expectations, fantastic rich buffet with plenty of nutritious vegan options. Kept us full and content for hours! We'd love to come back just for the views and the breakfast alone.

The location is just perfect, the historical room is cozy and has a great view on the harbor, the staff were friendly and welcoming, beautiful areas in the hotel to sit and relax indoor and outdoor.

- The shower and bathtub is nice in terms of style, but when it comes to practical use it’s not comfortable, it causes water leaking to the floor. - No fridge no TV in the room. - The dinner time ends at 9:00 pm on the à la carte restaurant and 9:30 pm for the buffet! which I consider quite early, it would be better to extend it until 10:00 pm.
