The pool area was beautiful with a nice view, clean, and refreshing, The breakfast was made to order and delicious. We truly enjoyed just hanging out at this place. We also enjoyed all the cats--they were our pets during our stay! Fernando was very helpful with suggestions and accommodating. Our stay here was very homey feeling rather than a hotel stay.

I truly can't think of anything we did not like...except for us having to drive through San Jose to get here. They do offer an airport pick-up, which would be worth it. Our prior communication from the States was lagged, but once we got there, communication was great.

This is truly the best hotel I have ever stayed in in San Jose. If your looking for restaurant on site and a huge breakfast buffet. This is not your spot. But if your looking for a good size room, good shower, comfy bed and super soft sheets! A beautiful interior (this owner has amazing taste), with comfy sofaes and even a piano, kind staff, very pet friendly (we brought our dog and all were so nice to him), where the hotel cats come to be cuddled next to the pool and with a breathtaking VIEW both in daytime but even more at night you can see while taking a dip in the pool - this location will take your breath away! Family run. And for Escazu area a good price! We loved our stay.

Breakfast included is nice. And pretty decent but a bit more vegetables for the egg options would be great. Not only tomato. Otherwise all is amazing.

This property is something you read about in a book. It is very quaint with a fantastic view of the city. It makes you feel like you are staying in an island villa with beautiful grounds and unique rooms. The managers at the front desk were so welcoming and willing to help us in any way they could from airport drop offs to helping us pick a place to get dinner. There are shared living rooms which is so nice to have a quiet afternoon to read/relax. The breakfast menu, which is included in your stay, is pretty extensive- the food was great! The property is also home to a few cats that were so sweet and friendly, so if you love animals, this is the place for you!

Loved everything!

The house has an awesome view and beautiful design—both inside and out. The neighborhood was peaceful, and we especially loved the friendly local cats that would occasionally wander by. The hosts were very accommodating and thoughtful, even providing a blue towel specifically for dirty clothes and shoes.

The bedroom was comfortable, although the ceiling fan was a bit wonky. The bathroom was a decent size, but the shower area could use better lighting. There was also a bit of a lack in countertop space and electrical outlets, which made it a little less convenient.

Our whole family truly enjoyed our stay at Posada el Quijote — from the beautiful gardens and the breathtaking view over the city, to the stunning view from our room and the delicious breakfast. This was our second stay here, and I believe Posada el Quijote is well on its way to becoming a tradition for our visits to San José. Highly recommended!

The only thing to note is that there are no restaurants within walking distance. However, Uber Eats works very well here, and enjoying a meal with the stunning city view is actually a real treat.

Our home in San José! For our third stay at Posada el Quijote, we were treated to a wonderful surprise — an upgrade to a stunning suite. The kids were absolutely thrilled, and we enjoyed a fantastic evening before drifting off to sleep in the most comfortable beds. The staff are attentive, the breakfasts delicious, and the gardens and views simply breathtaking. For us, there’s no doubt: Posada el Quijote is the place to stay in San José. We’re already planning our next visit, this time with our extended family!"

The hotel is located outside San Jose and was not particularly easy to walk around so we used taxis (which were excellent value) to get in and out of San Jose We arrived quite late at night and the manager was excellent and really helpful (he loaned us a phone charger) and we could get a couple of cold beers which is exactly what we needed. The view over San Jose from both the apartment and the pool was stunning The pool was a reasonable size and it was lovely to have a quick swim before and after our day out. Breakfasts were very nice - eggs cooked to demand. The apartment has a lovely garden. It is a really lovely place to stay. Our bedroom was very large with teas and coffees.

I really loved my stay at Posada el Quijote. It was my final night in Costa Rica before catching my flight back home and it was a brilliant place to relax and rest before the long journey. Fernando was really helpful and friendly, as was the other gentleman on reception in the evening. The pool has a brilliant view of San José, and being that bit higher up, there was a lovely breeze so it was a nice temperature for sunbathing. It was a 12 minute walk to a Fresh Market when I wanted to pop out for lunch and get supplies. The breakfast included had a range of options including gluten-free pancakes! There's a lovely dog called Perla on-site as well as seven cats. It felt like a nice homely place to stay.

The swimming pool could do with a little bit of TLC, it needed a bit of a fix-up and a clean in places. But it did the job for me for a final bit of relaxation.

We had high expectations for Posada el Quijote before arriving as a result of the many excellent reviews and were not disappointed. The location is excellent, with stunning views of the city and the hotel feels more like you have been invited into someone’s beautiful home, due to the spacious and nicely appointed shared living areas. The service was great and the inclusive breakfast was very good too. All for a very reasonable price.
