I liked the Mexican charm, the staff were friendly and extremely helpful. If I asked for help they were there immediately. The location is perfect, liked the trees and the cats.

I stayed 10 nights and would have like my bed sheets changed half way through. The pool temperature was too cold at the Garland del río. I did go into it everyday but I found even after I was in the water it still felt cold. My room The Countessa was a bit short on storage in my bathroom no place to put my toiletries and short on clothes storage.

I loved the location, it was only a short walk to the beaches, food, and shopping. The staff was incredible, answering all my questions and helping whenever I needed it.its right on the river and I could hear the music from the nice restaurant across the way. They have a pool on-site and a sister hotel with an infinity pool. It has lots of old charm and made me feel more like I was really staying a bit more traditional than most beach resorts do. My room had air conditioner and they provided filtered water. They have a self serve bar, that also has some snacks and non-alcoholic drinks. There is also access through the back of the hotel along the river making it even more convenient. I felt safe and enjoyed my 7 nights. Martha and Marco went above and beyond!

I don't have much to complain about. It fit my budget, so if you want fancy this is not it. Bed could of been a bit more comfortable, but that is subjective.

Great location on the banks of the Cuále within walking distance to the sights and restaurants of the Zona Romántica and El Centro. We upgraded to room La Marquesa which was beautiful with a tropical feeling when all the windows were open. Breakfast on the shady river patio was also included with the upgrade. We also made friends with Antonio and Amelia the resident cats. Martha and Marco were very friendly and helpful. I also enjoyed the communal kitchen for coffee and tea.

Not really a dislike, just a heads up. The front entrance is a little hard to locate as it looks just like a normal neighborhood dwelling from the front. Google maps helped us to find the entrance and you need to ring the bell on arrival to have the door unlocked.

Staff was incredibly friendly and the room was quite comfortable! It was in the perfect location, not too loud but close enough to all the action. The hotel itself was beautiful and made for lots of cute Instagram photos.

When I specifically booked a " river view " room, my room didn't have a view at all. It was in the middle of the hotel, so I had no view at all, just a sliding door that led to the kitchen/pool area. I didn't spend a lot of time in my room, though, so it didn't really matter to me.

We absolutely loved this little gem! Marco and Martha were wonderful and helpful. The sister hotel was a fun additional perk with it's rooftop pool. The setting for breakfast at the hotel was so peaceful with the river flowing by. Our room was fantastic and eclectic.The whole place felt like a step back in time. If you want authentic and to be closer to the culture, this is it. Very peaceful and quiet. Loved it. We walked from the hotel every day, around town, to eat, take photos and visit the beach areas. We spent half of our vacation here and half in the luxurious resort zone. Next trip I will be coming back to Garlands del Rio.

Be sure to ask at check-in if your breakfast is included, or if it is extra. Breakfast is excellent and the choices are great, but it can be confusing on whether or not it is included. Pool is small but will cool you off. This place is clean, but it is also old. If you need everything fancy and modern, you may be unable to appreciate these charming accommodations.

I can truly say this has to be one the most perfect hotels I’ve ever stayed in - all of the staff (thank you Marta and Sonia you were both so beyond lovely!) were kind, gracious, hospitable, and helpful with lovely recommendations for our stay based on our interests. The interior decor and architecture of the space is truly stunning - antique art and ceramics perfectly accentuate the gorgeous deco structure of the building. The beds are extremely comfortable, the rooms well laid out, each themed and beautifully put together and decorated without feeling overdone. There’s filtered water stations throughout the hotel to fill up your bottles, a pot of delicious coffee ready at all times. The communal spaces are bright and welcoming. The space is easy to come and go, breezy and lush and also secure and cozy. I was excited to come and even more excited to come back! I would easily visit PV again just to stay here. Oh, and the sister hotel has a rooftop infinity pool that overlooks the entire city - we checked it out on our way out of town and were sad to have not taken advantage of it so don’t miss out x Thank you for everything garlands del rio.

I stayed with my 7 year old son in the Marquesa room. It was honestly such a special experience. This room has its own private terrace and beautiful high ceilings and a windows that open wide onto the river and into the trees. It was magical. Very spacious. The cats came to visit. We were so charmed by the experience. After wandering around the Zona Romantica and Centro we would come back for a swim and some down time in the afternoon - it was such a pleasure to have such a retreat to return to. Breakfast on the river was fantastic. The river was dry when we were there, but I understand it usually is full of water. We can’t wait to return. It was what I needed. And to my great delight, my active little boy loved it too.

I loved it all. The only note I would make for others is that there are a lot of stairs and no elevator, so this would not be a place for someone with mobility issues.

The staff welcomes you with a margarita, chips, and guacamole. The hotel is in an old historic building with tons of character. Bed was comfortable and they provide filtered water so you don't have keep buying bottled water. Easy to walk most places in la zona romantica.

Just be aware there are stairs and no elevator in case this is a problem for you. Check in time is 3-7 and if you are coming later than that you have to coordinate with the hotel, so if your plans are up in the air or you know you'll arrive at night try to plan ahead. Not a big deal, there is not a big sign for the hotel from the street so if you don't see it, ask a local.

The entire staff treated us as special guests. Marcos, Marta, and all front desk staff were so welcoming, and watched to see that we we're enjoying our entire stay. Breakfast on the river view patio was wonderful and the ladies who served us were delightful. We only stayed a week and, are only regret was we didn't have more time. One more thing, the pool was fantastic!

Not enough time.

Stopped her at the start and end of a short break in Mexico. It's a fabulous hotel with vintage overtones, very friendly and relaxed and fabulous staff who really looked after me extremely well, particularly as I wasn't particularly mobile. Pretty much everything was perfect, from the margaritas to the scrambled eggs for breakfast. I'm looking forward to returning!
