I liked the Mexican charm, the staff were friendly and extremely helpful. If I asked for help they were there immediately. The location is perfect, liked the trees and the cats.

I stayed 10 nights and would have like my bed sheets changed half way through. The pool temperature was too cold at the Garland del río. I did go into it everyday but I found even after I was in the water it still felt cold. My room The Countessa was a bit short on storage in my bathroom no place to put my toiletries and short on clothes storage.

I stayed with my 7 year old son in the Marquesa room. It was honestly such a special experience. This room has its own private terrace and beautiful high ceilings and a windows that open wide onto the river and into the trees. It was magical. Very spacious. The cats came to visit. We were so charmed by the experience. After wandering around the Zona Romantica and Centro we would come back for a swim and some down time in the afternoon - it was such a pleasure to have such a retreat to return to. Breakfast on the river was fantastic. The river was dry when we were there, but I understand it usually is full of water. We can’t wait to return. It was what I needed. And to my great delight, my active little boy loved it too.

I loved it all. The only note I would make for others is that there are a lot of stairs and no elevator, so this would not be a place for someone with mobility issues.

The staff welcomes you with a margarita, chips, and guacamole. The hotel is in an old historic building with tons of character. Bed was comfortable and they provide filtered water so you don't have keep buying bottled water. Easy to walk most places in la zona romantica.

Just be aware there are stairs and no elevator in case this is a problem for you. Check in time is 3-7 and if you are coming later than that you have to coordinate with the hotel, so if your plans are up in the air or you know you'll arrive at night try to plan ahead. Not a big deal, there is not a big sign for the hotel from the street so if you don't see it, ask a local.

We had a room on the upper floor with inner yard view - the room was clean. Towels and bed sheets were fine - it was very quiet in the room and in the entire hotel - there were safe box, fridge, good TV and efficient AC as well as celling fan in our room. And even an iron - Wi-Fi worked well - water pressure was good and there was always hot water (just let it run for a couple of mins to get hot). Shower drain worked well - our king bed was big and comfortable/soft - we felt safe and comfortable in the hotel and area around - there is just 15 mins walk to the beach or to the historic town center - we did't have hotel breakfast. In the touristic area, you can get a fair breakfast for 2 for 500 pesos

You get what you paid for. We think it was a fair deal. You just need to know and be ready for: - in our room, toilet was behind a wall and door not high enough to reach the celling. That means there is no real privacy or soundproof. Fine for one guest. But if you are a couple but not that close, than that room is not for you. - room was small, no much place to store luggage and put clothes - that's not a new fancy room/furniture for a honeymoon - there is no elevator but if you need, reception can get help with luggage

We loved everything! The location is perfect, right in the Zona Romantica but it's secluded enough that you don't get so much outside noise. The place is clean and beautiful with lots of lovely decorations. The staff are friendly and knowledgeable of the area, they gave great recommendations which we took. One of the most comfortable hotel beds I've stayed in. When we're back in PV this hotel will be first on my list.

There is nothing I didn't like.

Staff was amazing and very accommodating. The complimentary margarita and chips/guacamole was a nice way to start the stay. There is a kitty mascot around the facility that is very friendly, but if you do not want to engage, it leaves you alone. The location was suburb and a short walk to many iconic places you will want to visit - Enjoy!!

Overall, it was a great stay. It is older and some of the age was shown in the room like mirrors with aging or the door that you could see had some issues of closing perfectly which made locking a little tough. But I am being very picky to find issues. As said, it was a great stay.

One of my favourite hotels I've ever stayed in! From the moment I arrived, sweaty and exhausted after a long flight, and they brought me chips and a frozen margarita, I knew I was in for a good time. The bed was the comfiest I have ever slept in and I slept so well while I was there. I stayed in the room 'Antonio' on my final night and it was incredible - definitely get this room if you can! Gorgeous views of the jungle and river. Staff were amazing, especially Ivan, who gave fantastic recommendations, and one of his colleagues (I didn't find out her name) who gave me tips for visiting Quimixto. The building is beautiful and has everything you need - the guest kitchen is really useful if, like me, you drink a lot of tea and want to buy and prepare fruit from the local markets! Purified water on tap so you don't have to buy loads of plastic bottles. The pool is lovely too - temperature is just right (the sea is almost TOO warm!) Location is great. It really felt like home for a few days.

There were a lot of mosquitoes by the pool and in the kitchen - but the hotel have thought of everything and have a little box with repellent (and also suncream) for you to use by the pool! Just be warned if you're a mosquito magnet like me - use the repellent!!

The location was good - easy access to the malecon and beach. Shopping and restaurants nearby. Staff were friendly and helpful. There were plenty of public areas in the hotel and they were nice spaces.

Our room "the countess" was on the small side -there was no comfortable place to sit in the room; bathroom door was useless; step in bathroom somewhat dangerous; the closet mini - though not a hugh issue for us. It also seemed that decorations and features of the room were afterthoughts and not cohesive. We looked into other rooms and they looked well thought out - and roomy. No beach towels were available.

My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Garlands del Rio. The staff were very helpful and knowledgeable and helped us with several recommendations. Our room was very comfortable and we enjoyed the room's decor. Our favorite thing was the hotel's location - it is close to many restaurants and a park and is also situated along a river. If we go back to Puerto Vallarta, we would definitely stay at Garlands del Rio.

It's a charming local hotel. It has all the flavor of Mexico with all the convenience of accommodations we expect in the USA. The location was great. The staff incredible. The location is just the icing on the cake. I have nothing bad to say about it.
