We loved the hosts Thierry and Christine who were so friendly and welcoming and could give us lots of tips on where to find the best eateries and activities in the region. The breakfasts were delicious and copious and their property is just beautiful - both the rooms and the gardens. We loved that they grow or make the breakfast ingredients and also support local businesses too. The poetry is really perfectly placed for visiting so many different things in the region.

There wasn't anything we didn't love!

We loved our stay at La Balastière, there was nothing not to like about it. If you like peace and tranquility, nice views, and you like it quiet at night you will love it here. We stayed in a studio apartment, and it was gorgeous, clean, comfortable and well equipped, a nice bed with comfortable pillows too. The hosts Christine and Thierry were lovely, so friendly and chatty, despite our inability to speak more than the basics in French at the moment. Their cat Marlii was absolutely adorable, and so friendly, we loved her 🥰. Chinon was only a short drive away, and the village area around the accommodation was perfect for an evening walk. It was really nice to have plenty of seating in the gardens to sit of an evening. My wife and I were moving the tables around to catch every last bit of the setting sun whilst we drank wine and played games ☺️. The breakfast was absolutely delicious, home made yoghurt and confiture, even some of the cakes were homemade. The bread was from a local boulangerie (we visited there ourselves after visiting a local cheese shop). There was cereal too and to drink there was orange juice, and plenty of fresh hot coffee or tea, we definitely didn't leave hungry each morning 😋. If we come to this area of the Loire Valley again we will not hesitate in booking another stay in La Balastière.

There was absolutely nothing to dislike about La Balastière.

The hosts were friendly, accommodating and provided all the needed information. The room was very small but clean and with needed amenities including a nice en-suite. The breakfast was very nice with home baked tarts. Great coffee, too. The Inn is in a quiet location with good access to Chinon and the wine country.

There was a large post which you had to navigate on one side of the bed. The drain had an unpleasant odor that was easily rectified by covering it with a damp piece of tissue. But, still the accommodation provided a nice stay for good value.

We had the most wonderful welcome from our host. The breakfast was absolutely amazing! In fact too much to eat, so he kindly wrapped up cherry tart for us, which we ate by the banks of the river in Chinon with our lunch. Our bedroom was stunning with exposed beams, and lots of space. Really comfortable.

Peaceful location, but not too far from Chinon. Delightful hostess, Christine. Very good breakfast. Very good communal kitchen if needed.

Do not be put off by the message you receive from your hostess about house rules. It sounds a little officious, but she is in fact extremely friendly and welcoming.

Everything was absolutely perfect - the room was spacious and comfortable, the setting wonderfully peaceful, and the breakfast so delicious, with homemade cookies, yogurt, and jams. The hosts were incredibly welcoming and kind, making the whole stay feel extra special. We will definitely return.

Small charming countryside chambres d’hotes. Comfortable and pleasant room. Really nice hosts Christine and Thierry. Excellent base for discovering this part of the Loire and all its attractions.

There was nothing at all that we didn’t like! The nearest town Chinon is 10 minutes drive and has many restaurants, from bars and brasseries to fine dining. We visited in high summer holidays, and would advise booking restaurants in advance as many were booked out.

Lovely country location, very friendly and helpful hosts, who provided a delicious breakfast. Very comfortable room. Would have loved to have stayed longer. Highly recommend staying at La Balastiere.

We loved the country setting of this lovely B&B. Our host was very friendly and welcoming. In the evening we enjoyed sitting in the garden and in the morning had a wonderful breakfast. Our room was small but i loved it....the wood beams and decor plus it was very comfy and clean!

I have travelled a lot and this may have been one of the nicest places I have ever stayed at, anywhere in the world. The hosts are a super nice friendly couple with the sweetest dogs (you can interact with them if you wish to). The location is gorgeous (you would need a vehicle to go to local wineries) and the facilities are impeccable. My friends (a 3-person family) stayed in the bigger room with a kitchen and everything while I stayed in the smaller room across which was super cute and perfect. The breakfast was very good as well, and the hosts went our of their way to get something specially for my friend's son, which was very kind of them. Honestly, I cannot say enough good things about the place and the hosts. I thank them for making our visit so special, and I would certainly love to return for a restful stay in the future, whenever I visit France.
