We chose this place due to its a historical and grand country house and its location convenient to explore Bath. Its external appearance had certainly met our expectations and its in itself is a great experience for us. The location is also good to go to Bath- only 5 mins walk to D1 bus stop nearby and a 30 mins bus ride. However the room is a bit tired and dated. The bathroom is basic. And no lift to the 3rd floor— it stops at the second floor. We did not have breakfast there so not sure about that. Car park can be difficult ( on site) . But overall we were pleased we stayed there and we feel it’s still great value if you don’t stay at the peak rate ( like the weekends).

The room itself was kind of dated and basic, not matching the grand outlook of the hotel — so don’t have too much expectations of the room itself. But a historical look of a country manor is your thing, then this one is for you.

Meals were good. Our evening meal was a bar meal, only problem was its size! Too big! Breakfast very good.

Wasn't the hotel's fault, getting there was difficult, due to closed roads.

The hotel has spacious public rooms and is set in attractive grounds with lovely views of the countryside from the terrace. Our room was very clean and the bed was large and very comfortable. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was good and reasonably priced. Very good service and a flexible menu. It was good to have a fan in our room during the very hot weather.

The shower was difficult to adjust but there was plenty of hot water. There wasn’t much in the way of shelving or hooks in the bathroom but the towels were of good quality. Access to the hotel by car was a little difficult at times but there is an overflow carpark close by.

Very satisfied with our accommodation, we couldn't fault our room, especially as we were staying for three nights. Room was fabulously large, with the bonus of having a small terrace overlooking the gardens and beyond. Enjoyed the fabulous views over a morning tea / evening tipple! Bed, bedding and linen was super. Bathroom and shower were lovely and spacious. As we'd previously stayed at the hotel, it was nice to see some familiar faces, the staff on duty are amazing and so accommodating, no request was too much trouble. Breakfast was plentiful (for meat eaters), good ingredients; the sausages were great! We didn’t dine at the hotel as we were attending a weekend function and ate at the Hop Pole Inn the first night (very disappointing). Menu at the hotel looked so much better, wished we’d eaten in, next time we will! So, thank you and well done for a comfortable stay BW Limpley Stoke 😊

Pillows were very flat, hard and like bricks. They didn’t lend themselves to a fitful sleep; Awoke the following morning with a sore neck. However, upon asking, some replacement pillows were found, and although slightly softer, still not very good; they could certainly all do with replacing! Couldn’t find the Bluetooth device. WiFi Smart TV would have been good as I don’t always travel with connection cables (as with this time).

Hotel room, staff, and location were excellent.

The breakfast was very poor. Staff did their best, but the coffee was undrinkable, and the choice of food was beyond basic. Breakfast room needed a deep clean and the stainless steel serving containers needed scrubbing and polishing, absolutely covered in fingerprints.. Toast, marmalade, and juice were the best options. No menu of anything was available. We ate elsewhere on the last day because we needed to sit somewhere clean, choice of coffee, and fried eggs because long journeys ahead. Such a pity because it spoilt what was otherwise a very good stay.

The hotel is very well situated with some superb country views. We especially liked the large, comfortable lounge and the outdoor terraces. The bar staff were superb. The restaurant offered a good variety of food (the lemon pudding needed a stronger lemon flavour, though), well prepared and of excellent quality. Our room was comfortable and clean. Overall, we would highly recommend this hotel.

Access to Breakfast (steps without handrails) is not ideal for any guest with mobility issues. Our request for a set of double doors to be unlocked, which would have partially helped, was met with a blank refusal, even though they are always open later in the day. The water pressure in the shower in our room was poor. We saw no mention of cream teas, surely a lost opportunity given the lounge and the great outdoor options??

Lovely location, bright rooms, good breakfast, friendly staff at the reception. Rooms were clean, good linen and good size modern bathrooms. We were given good recommendations for local canal walks and navigating Bath.

We stayed during an exceptionally warm spell of weather. The fans provided were inadequate. If the weather continues as is we’d recommend the hotel invest in better cooling fans. We had booked breakfast for 9:30am on Saturday morning. At 9:46 we were told they were going to start clearing up- this made us feel rushed as the breakfast is advertised until 10am and the last booking is at 9:45am.

Was pleasantly surprised by the quiet area and beautiful grounds. The staff were so friendly with lots of information regarding the building. The room was a little warm, but the beds were comfortable and clean. They were also flexible with our dining plans for the evening. We wish we had booked a longer stay to fully explore the local area. Bath central was a mere 10 minutes away by car, and the staff were able to order taxis if needed.

The car park needs to be a little bigger, the overflow car park was not very big either. The bar shut at 10.45, however you were allowed to take drinks to your room. Last orders for food were at 8.45. Which made it tight when out for the day and travelling back.

Good: Value, breakfast, parking. Quiet & peaceful location, short drive into Bath, Hotel restaurant and bar available. Staff friendly and helpful.

The water pressure for the showers was ok but quite low.

I recently stayed at this charming location and had a wonderful experience overall. The hotel is situated about a £15 Uber ride and 10 minutes away from town, making it easily accessible. The natural surroundings are stunning, with beautiful views and a well-maintained garden. My room was spacious and clean, and the bathroom was excellent. When I woke up, the cleaners were working on other rooms but did so in such a gentle manner that I hadn't noticed. The staff were warm and welcoming, which added to the pleasant stay. I would definitely stay here again, though I might skip the breakfast next time.

One point to note is the buffet breakfast. It’s actually a do-it-yourself English breakfast, but at £12, it’s reasonably priced.
