I loved everything about the Ayrlington and will definitely stay there again. Even though I was travelling solo, I had a double bed in 'Rose', which was south facing with wonderful views across to the city. The room would have been fine even for a couple, with a nice large shower. All the staff were really friendly and helpful, even carrying my suitcase up the stairs for me - thank you! I didn't have breakfasts as I ate great meals out in the city, and wasn't hungry enough for breakfast. Excellent location, and felt safe walking back there alone in the evenings.
Absolutely nothing not to like.

The Breakfast selection was excellent and the server was impeccable (sorry I can't remember her name) The bed in The Orchid Room was the most comfortable one I have ever slept on.... Just like a big soft marshmallow that you just sink into.... Bliss!!!! There was an adequate selection on the Tea Tray along with a Bottle of Mineral Water. The Iron and board was a great addition and worked perfectly. The Garden is Beautiful and Private.
Our room was in general clean but there was a build up of dust on the bedside lampshades and the shade of the floorstanding lamp. The mirror in the bathroom is useless as badly water damaged and the mirror on the dressing table isn't useful due to the dim lighting in the room. There is also a tile on the wall by the basin and a couple of floor tiles that need grouting. The shower temperature and pressure is good but the shower heads need a good clean or replacing. Hand-wash, Hand Cream, Shower Gel, Shampoo and conditioner and Shower Caps are supplied but The products are pump dispensers so maybe a source of cross contamination? The 2 mismatched bathrobes supplied should be binned unfortunately.

The staff were very welcoming and friendly. When entering the building it was very lovely and clean, the bedroom was much the same except for some scuff markings on the walls and slightly lifting carpets at the edges. Very comfy bed.
The bed and facilities were all well maintained except for a chair in the corner which was covered in stains and sagging cushions and looked like it had definitely seen better days. Scuff markings on the walls and slightly lifting carpets at the edges. The fee for parking was not made obvious prior to booking and slightly let down at it as we had chosen to not go with another hotel due to the parking situation being payable and did not like this.

Very comfortable room, friendly staff and the decor was very pleasant and recently refreshed. Really good location to get to the sights of bath. Off street parking. Very nice breakfast.
Even though we paid for a garden view we where put at the front of the hotel. The hotel is near a very busy road and sadly the sound proofing on the room was poor. We also had no ability to cool the room, apart from opening the windows, leading to a sweaty night. The toilet in the bathroom running water which caused the cistern to refill alot. And the shower head was leaking. The parking didn't seemed to be organised which ment a car blocked us in and caused a real problem for another car getting out.

It's a very charming property with large comfortable rooms and a friendly, helpful staff. The location was great -- just a short walk across the river into the center. We arrived really late at night and a lovely woman welcomed us and got us settled, and there was a nice personal note welcoming us, with tea and biscuits. We were a little concerned about the lack of AC in this very hot stretch of summer, but they supplied fans in each room and it was actually very comfortable. At breakfast, my son said to me, "mom, you really undersold this place!"
Just be aware that there is no lift or AC.

Nice greeting by Reception staff. Lovely comfortable room with plenty of space and a good en-suite with an excellent shower. Nice communal lounge area and lovely garden at the back of the property. Bonus car parking space.
No blind on the bathroom window, which felt a bit exposed as we were on the ground floor and people could walk past the window and see in. The window was made of frosted glass but I'm pretty sure you would be able to see silhouettes, especially when the light is on in the evening! Breakfast is expensive, given that the pastries are tiny and the full English breakfast is small.

We loved this hotel. The room was beautifully decorated, clean and well appointed, the location was perfect, just a 10 minute stroll to the City Center and the staff were welcoming, warm and helpful. In fact the staff, especially the reception team, really made our stay feel so special, they were so accommodating and friendly. Our only regret is that we didn’t try the breakfast, but given our experience of the rest of the hotel, I have no doubt that it would also be great. Thank you Ayrlington for a wonderful stay
There is nothing negative to say about this hotel!

It felt like the staff there should start a hospitality training business or something, because they were absolutely incredible. Knowledgeable, friendly and super helpful. The first one made us feel welcome and made sure we had everything we needed and were fully settled. The second one was amazing and let my partner and I stay in the lovely, homely living room to have complimentary tea and pastries. We were then shown to the beautiful private garden to chill out before we set off. There was no rushing us away after check out. The guest house itself is stunning, and gives you that warm home feeling. The room and bathroom was spacious. Everything was perfect.
The fact we weren't allowed to move in and live there!

The room and garden were stunning. Finally a room with a mirror and plug sockets by a dressing table!!!!! Very well priced bar. Didn't have brekkie as vegan but smelt nice. Staff wonderful. Checking in seamless. Looks further away from centre than it is...literally turn right, right again, 8 min walk with short legs! Will Definitely return.
We were in the zen room which is so gorgeous. I have hypersensitive hearing so could hear if anyone used the keypad to get into the garden but my other half didn't.

The Ayrlington is an excellent bed and breakfast hotel. The staff were very attentive and the breakfast was very good and the staff serving very attentive, The quality and variety of the breakfast was excellent, the eggs royale was especially good. It is an easy, 15 minute walk to the town centre, where there are lots of restaurants to choose from to eat an evening meal, or visit the attractions. The map issued by the receptionist on our arrival was very useful, we gathered that not all hotels were as attentive to their visitors needs. This is especially useful as the tourist information centre has been closed.
The entrances to the carpark were obscured by tour buses parked at times, ( not all times and only certain times of the day). This is not something that the hotel can do anything about and it certainly would not be a reason not to use the hotel.
