Room was very spacious, larger than we'd thought. Bed was clean, as well as the ensuite facilities which were roomier than we'd thought they'd be. The fan was very much appreciated

There was no one on site, staff wise when we arrived so we had no idea of the booking in procedure, (the cleaning lady let us in and told us the procedure.) While it wasn't difficult, we were unaware of the need for a permit to park on the road so had to find alternative parking off street until we could check in.

We were in the attic room, it was light and airy and quite a big room. Very comfortable and clean. Staff were really friendly and the breakfast was great! You are In a really good location as everything is just a 5/10 minute walk away!

Because it's on street parking which you get a parking permit for it can take a few circles around before you can get one. We arrived on a Saturday afternoon and there were no spaces anywhere as people tend to leave massive gaps between them so no one else can park! This is no fault of the guest house as all of the b&b's are in the same boat but be aware it may not be as simple as rocking up in front of the place and unpacking you may be forced to park 1 or 2 streets away and walk!

Breakfast was lovely, liked being able to choose the night before. Plenty of tea and toast offered too. Room was lovely. We knew we had a smm double but it was still very comfortable.. Check in and parking easy. Location was fantastic. Staff really lovely.

We didn't dislike anything but there are a few suggestions. The TV was very small and quite old fashioned. The sausage wasn't the best and I'd have loved some black pudding as an option.

The ground floor room with step in shower was perfect for our needs. The room was spacious and comfortable, spotlessly clean. A very comfortable bed. We booked room only. The hospitality tray was generous. Staff were very helpful and gave us local information which was a bonus.

Parking. When I booked I understood there to be parking. However, it turned out to be street, zone parking and we received a voucher for the duration of our stay. It was pot luck we got a space near to the guest house.

Good location

Self check in ok. But thought the room should be cleaned at least once during stay. Towels can only be changed every 3 days by putting outside your door. Also you had to put your own bin bags outside door. Bathroom not cleaned during out 5 night stay. This is not mentioned on the website. Unmanned site mainly

The room was lovely, clean and spacious, bed was very comfortable, plenty of refreshments and really cosy having a TV in there to watch also all round a nice hotel to be in and staff very pleasant and helpful we are returning for November 2024 for the next family gathering Thank-you to you all for making us welcome.

The only thing was that you get a 45 minutes window to get down to have breakfast from 8:15am to 9am I think when you go on a mini holiday sometimes you like to have a little longer in bed for example 8:15 to 10:15 giving you a 2 hour window. But other than that breakfast was beautiful could not fault it one bit

The location was great. 5 mins walk to centre, (lots of steps for less able though). Comfy bed. The room was airy and nice flow of breeze from the window. Lots of drawer space and wardrobe. On road parking with free parking permit. Breakfast, which is payable on the day, was hot and tasty. Good communication from the owner and very helpful.

The tv in our room wasn't really watchable. Very dark and unable to lighten or tilt down. The shower in our room was compact, my hubby struggled to get in and wash easily, not much room for movement. Other showers in the other rooms were better.

We liked reay everything. The location, the room itself and how everything was organized with the self check in. It was very privat and with a lot of discretion. The breakfast was amazing. Even vegan and vegetarian options!

A big problem was the wifi. We were in one of the rooms on top floor and tge wifi didn't reach our room. Since there is no common area in the hotel to sit, we just couldn't use the wifi. That's why its only a nine out of ten.

The Arches is a very well run, quiet, clean & comfortable quest house. The property is in close proximity to the harbour, restaurants, shops, pubs, attentions etc. The owner was very friendly & welcoming. Although I was ‘room only’ I did eat breakfast twice, the food was excellent.

There was nothing about this property to dislike.
