Wholesome family run hotel. These people are great I couldn’t have been treat better. Zed and Emma are what I call a power couple and they do everything in there with love. I have been coming too Whitby on my own since 13 years old I’m 49 never have I been an anywhere like this from all the staff too the beautiful breakfast room. All this though was amazing I don’t think they knew how much it meant too that view it’s simply fantastic. Sorry too both for my forgetfulness on leaving. Thank Zed thank you Emma. A+

Nothing at all

The location of the Guest house is perfect- right on the cliff front and only a short walk to the town. The staff were so friendly and helpful- You can pay £3 for parking from the guest house in the zones, which is great! Breakfast is great, you can pick anything you like from the menu and can change this daily- or you can help yourself to cereal, toast, fruit or ask for porridge which is also so great if youre fussy like me! Another bonus, your room is cleaned every day and you can also have fresh towels every day if you require them! There is literally no noise- which is GREAT. We did not hear a thing from neighbors or from outside.. and we had the windows open. There was also lush blackout curtains which was amazing if you're looking for a cheeky lay in.

The only thing we can complain about - which is minimal was the bed... The bed wasnt the most comfortable after night one. Obvliously this is personal preference, which could be an 'us' issue as we're used to a very soft mattress.. But dont let this put you off because beds are just for sleeping!

It was very clean and the brealfast was absolutely lovely. I couldn't have asked for a better location amd it was really good value for momey! As a single traveller, to have a fantastic sea view in a single room is very unusual as you normally get stuck at the back of the hotel! guest house!!! Thank you xx

The walkup the 70 stairs to my room!!!! 😂😂 I was told that I would be on the 4th floor beforehand Wish there had been a 'toiletries shelf. In the bedroom or bathroom!!!

The guest house was much better than expected No issues with parking as the owner Zed gave us a parking disc for £3 to park the car 10 metres away from the guest house for 2 days. Our room was very tastefully decorated and very clean with coffee and tea facilities with complimentary biscuits. Plenty of wardrobe place. The family room with a double and single beds was very comfortable with silk duvet covers. Breakfast was outstanding with choice of breakfast cereals and a choice of a cooked breakfast at your choice. Overall stay was absolutely perfect The staff was excellent. Enjoyed our stay very much Would fully recommend this guest house and the location was perfect to see the sights of Whitby

Nothing to dislike

We liked the location right on the sea front, it was not far from all the shops and restuarants, and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Parking was easy, do not pay the parking machine when you arrive, go into the B&B and pay £3 for a ticket and you can park your car around the corner for the length of your stay. We were very pleased with the over all ambience of the place. We thoroughly recommend the Riviera Guesthouse.

Could have done with a lamp in the room.

Great hosts , helped with where to park as soon as we arrived . Room was lovely , loads of storage space , bed was super comfy , pillows were perfect. Slept like a log . Great location , right opposite the beach , nice stroll down into the centre . Breakfast the next morning was delicious , they are happy to change items to give you the perfect breakfast . Poached eggs were delicious . Would stay again

Nothing really , it was great . Would maybe choose a lower floor next time , lot of stairs to climb xxx

Staff super friendly (we had the young lad check us in) we were very early for check in during the horrible storm, our room was ready. Perfect and clean/super comfortable. Great views (of the wild storm) excellent handbook with lots of information in. The location was fabulous and if not for the weather it was very easy to walk into town. Bathroom ultra modern and the lighting in room lovely. There was a leak in the bathroom and the young lad came to check on it for us and gave a quick fix , this was all during storm Darragh and I think he handled things exceptionally .

Heating in bathroom not on, however I have no doubt had we raised this it would have been resolved as they were so accommodating, we didn't realise it was off until much later in the evening and was not a major issue. The bed linen was slightly bobbley which given the exceptional cleanliness and quality was a surprise, again didn't realise I til morning so not an issue just feedback.

My husband and I have recently had the pleasure of staying at the riviera once again. And yet again with out fail had a wonderful perfect stay . Accomodation/staff/food was all excellent. As you walk in there is a sign saying come as a guess and leave as friends and this is truly true . Zed and his wife are wonderful people . This is the best hotel ever that we have ever stayed in . And we would never think of going anywhere else when in Whitby . We are already planning on going back very soon . Love Kathy and Phil footitt x

All of out stay

That I got a lovely little single room with a sea view on the second floor with quite a large en suite.

I could have done with a shelf or storage rack under or above the sink to put my toiletries on and my toothbrush. The shower does need a shower mat as when using products I found my feet sliding all over even on the raised bumps. Other than that it was a lovely little room with an excellent view of the sea.
