THE STAFF WERE FRIENDLY AND HELPFUL, THE LOCATION AND PARKING WERE GREAT. BED VERY COMFORTABLE AND BATHROOM WAS EXCELLENT
MENUS UNDERWHELMING FOR A HOTEL OF SUCH HISTORY AND STYLE. THE MOST BORING AND TEXTURELESS PORRIDGE I HAVE EVER EATEN. Check out porridge at Quest Albury, or Little B in Wangaratta if you are looking for inspiration! Consider smorgasbord breakfast. Dining room and foyer cold and draughty. Rethink positioning of air con in room. Takes ages to warm up because of high ceilings.. A ceilng fan would assist. Research ways to improve disabled access. Currently possible but clumsy. There may be innovative ways to improve access for the disabled.

Staff: Restaurant / Bar and Hotel Reception were friendly and welcoming and also accommodating. Facilities: Easy access and plenty of them plus, access to the building after 9.30pm, Private key provided. Rooms; 302 was a suite alright, large and comfortable I felt like VIP, beautiful. 303, was cozy and quaint perfect for the 1 to 2 night(s) stay! The next time in back in Bendigo I will ask for another available room so I can experience all the rooms and the Shamrock as a whole. Information: Appreciated the history of the Shamrock provided at own pleasure and rooms in honour of people with their history or herstory in the room.
Wifi: As Guests, we had to connect to an unsecured WiFi connection. We should have better protection and connect to the Shamrock private WiFi. Parking: Even though we had access to the hotel via the public multilevel parking there weren't enough spots. We should have access to the whole 1st level of reserved parking. I didn't mind paying for parking, furthermore, would have appreciated smoother access and parking. On that note, Reception did not explain the rear access I was confused and had to figure it out after 20mins that I could, after, noticing a sign access to Shamrock reception in the corner of the wall. I wish the reception staff had explained that clearly before parking the car..

It's right at the centre of the historic town so most things are within walking distance. The building is really grand, 19th century and solid so it's quiet. The restaurant is on the ground floor and had above average pub food at night. We sat on the first floor common balcony and had a drink looking over the park. A multi story parking garage has a direct passage to the hotel. Our bathroom had a huge spa bath but we didn't try it. Too many things to do.
As with older buildings there are no power points next to the bed for charging the phone. It has an ancient lift to reached the 3 stories. It creaks and shakes but actually performed perfectly.

The Shamrock provides a taste of gracious living in 19th century style but with some modern touches like a lift to the upper floors and a TV in your room. It's located right in the centre of town on Pall Mall. One of the places we visited was the Bendigo Regional Art Gallery which is a400m walk away though lovely parkland. We also liked the restaurant where we dined in the evening. It also represented value for money. The staff were very helpful. We wanted to watch the AFL game and couldn't get the channel on the TV in our room but the staff got another TV for us. How good is that!

We liked the heritage and the history of the place, and was even excited to find out the top floor is haunted 👻 nothing freaked us out though and will look into doing a tour upstairs!!the downstairs dining was very good, breakfast was amazing and dinner was gr8.the staff are so friendly and helpful..excellent location in a beautiful town..will definitely come back
The walk from the carport was bad,it's down alot of stairs and hard to take luggage..milk in the bar fridge, there was none..lucky I brought long life milk.mozzies in the room were pretty bad so mayb mozzie zappers.

Excellent service at check-in being able to leave our bags locked up as we were early and went for a walk around the park. Bedroom was smaller than I remember last time but still very comfortable and compact. Bathroom was excellent - large shower and great water pressure which was perfect the next morning. It's a great location for the tulip festival and the art gallery and we found a fantastic Chinese restaurant for dinner very close by (Din Fung Dumpling Restaurant). We also grabbed a sushi roll for lunch - would love to go back to the Oishi Cafe - it smelt divine. Cleaning staff were very friendly and had a chat which was appreciated.
My door was open when I arrived, and the door lock was very low to the ground where I had to kneel down to get the key in. I don't remember this from last time either.

Super friendly reception, fabulously warm and very helpful.
I was disappointed with the restaurant, not the same quality of main meals as before. And short staffed, probably like most places. We had to wait 2 hours for our rooms to be ready even though we arrived at the check-in time. There must have been a glitch or short staffed. But I will go back there and pay a bit more to get a bigger room, too! The friendly and helpful reception staff made up for it, and we love the location and old world feel.

Loved the whole age and atmosphere of the Shamrock. The central location was ideal as we came by train from Melbourne. Bed was extremely comfortable. We arrived early at 11am and reception was not open, but a kind staff member found us and kindly stored our back packs for us. All staff including in the Bistro were great.
As reception is not always manned, it would be helpful if there were signs up indicating hours when staff would be in attendance. Also something to indicate what to do with keys when checking out would be good. As it turned out, reception staff were there when we left, but as we had already paid if we had left very early there is nothing to indicate what to do with the keys.

This overnight stay ticked a "bucket list" box for me. I spent two years as a boarder at Girton in 1957 1958 and part of our English course was a talk arranged by Alan Marshal who wrote the book - I CAN JUMP PUDDLES This book was one of our compulsory readings for that Year 10. Alan Marshall gave a talk in the front room on the first floor of The Shamrock Hotel and we were able to attend this event. I was impressed with both the venue and the lecture and it has remained in my heart and mind all these years.

Easy to book. Responsive staff confirming the booking. Having a lift makes it accessible for elderly friend otherwise wouldn't be able to stay here. Having the bar and dining room is so convenient. Food was very good and staff attentive.
I'd love to see the entrance/reception area have a bit of attention. It doesn't put me off, but a building of this grandeur deserves it. People could potentially judge the rooms by this area and this would be unfortunate.
