The location is really good, near to a bus stop that takes you to Nara park! Our accommodation was exceptional, the traditional house is cosy, tidy, clean and very comfortable. Mr. Shunju and Mike are very welcoming and nice people that provide you with information, recommendations and comforts that make the whole trip an unforgettable experience! I would definitely go back again at Naramachi Guesthouse for my next staying at Nara!

It’s a beautiful house with great rooms and a very friendly atmosphere. The owner is very kind and welcoming! The location is great for exploring Nara. We loved Nara, both for cozy Naramachi and the beautiful nature and temples, especially in the upper parts of Nara park. Bike rental from the guesthouse was also great!

We had the room facing the road, and there was a surprising amount of traffic that you could hear from the room. We were woken up by the delightful jingle of the garbage truck :)

Very comfortable, spacious room. Exceptional host. He is so friendly and recommended an amazing sushi restaurant. You can tell he really takes pride in his ryokan. The common area was lovely to spend time in and it was no issue storing our bags. The location is also easy to get to by bus from the JR station and it's a short walk to the main Nara sights (or you can rent his bikes for cheap). So welcoming and comfy. 10/10 recommend.

A very charming guesthouse, ideally located 5min walk from the JR station (Kyobate). From Nara station, it takes around 20min walk to get there. The host was amazing, so helpful and nice, giving his advice on the places to go out for dinner, public baths, etc. He helped us to send our luggage to our next step location, and we are so grateful he did. Thank you so much for this great stay, we strongly recommend this place to stay ! :)

Rooms are not soundproof, and we could hear some snoring from the room above, but this is quite understandable, given that it is a renovated place. We really loved our stay at Guesthouse Naramachi.

A unique opportunity to get acquainted with the beautiful culture of Japan. Friendly owners of the hotel-museum, told everything, helped to get to the next place of the trip. Thank you very much!

I will always look back very fondly on my stay at this guesthouse. The host was extremely welcoming, friendly and gave a diligent introduction to the property and its facilities. The property had an amazing history and I loved everything about it, it was beautiful and well cared for. The room, bathroom and common area were all very clean and well cared for. The room was arranged and decorated very beautifully with a lovely view of the garden. It was nice and close to some excellent eating spots and within walking distance to the temple grounds at the heart of Nara. I wish everyone could experience this level of hospitality, it was truly a very enjoyable place to stay. I would book again in a heartbeat when I visit Japan again.

There was nothing I didn't like about my stay at this wonderful guesthouse.

Bed comfortable - lovely to stay in a ryokan. Marginally stressful with rambunctious 10yo and paper walls! The owner was amazing and exceptionally kind. My husband needed medical attention and he rang around to find out what was open on public holiday and then drove him to hospital, translated and drove him home. Incredibly kind and far far exceeded our expectations. Thank you so much!

The host is extremely kind and very helpful. He helped us plan our visits in Nara and told us about special events happening in the city. He also explained the history of the house. The room looks exactly like the pictures and is spotless. I would definitely recommend this place for everyone who wishes to experience a traditional Japanese stay.

Amazing property! Such an experience to stay in this house, the beds where really comfy, our room was lovely and the faciltiies where perfect, everything you would need including a microwave and comfy space to sit and eat downstairs, shower and two toilet facilities! Theres even bikes outside you can rent which we did to get around Nara on a sunny day! The owner was lovely and super attentive, giving us a map of Nara and pointing out all the places we could visit during our stay.

Amazing location for going to Nara park and other restaurants and sites in Nara. The staff are so helpful and kind and have many recommendations for restaurants or sites to visit with a map. The guesthouse is very comfortable with tatami rooms and the bathrooms are well kept and organized. Very large area downstairs to play games and hangout together with friends and there is free coffee and cold water. Excellent experience and definitely plan to come back and stay at this guesthouse!
