Very friendly and helpful staff, comfortable bed, large room, great location for the Hospital and pubs/cafes etc. Nice blackout curtains, big new radiators in the room, tea/coffee facilities, TV working well, lots of pillows, clean bedding, nice hot shower. I reported a flickering lightbulb and it was changed instantly.

The shower gel hadn't been topped up and I was already wet by the time I realised. The tiled shower base had missing grout and didn't have the correct angle on it to drain properly, I left a note for the staff to let them know it needs regrouting although it's probably best removed and replaced with a formed tray.

Breakfast was ok cooked to order, beds were comfy enough and we're good when I requested another 1 pillow brought me 2, it was close enough to transport to get about if you don't drive

The hotel was a little tired looking and had a few problems with leaks and sadly the bar and lounge wasn't open, bathroom was in both rooms had layout issues, in one the you had to get into the shower sideways because the sink was so close and the 2 nd room you couldn't sit straight on the toilet without banging your knees on the sink and occupant in this room is only 4'9" !!

The staff couldn't have been more helpful, my original room had a leaky toilet, so I was moved rooms straight away. The room I was given was much smaller, still a double but half the size, which was fine as I was a solo traveller, but for two people, it would have been a bit of a squeeze. The breakfasts were good, huge portions on the cooked.breakfast! Good location if attending The Royal Hallamshire Hospital it is literally a 3 minute walk away.

The mattress in my room was not great, and I told staff this as I was checking out. I know the hotel is going through a refurbishment, but there should still be a standard maintained.

Excellent value for money the breakfast was very good and room comfortable and clean

Comfortable beds , great location . Staff lovely and friendly . Lovely breakfast served in a breakfast room if booked . Really nice hotel , older decor but this fits with the age of the property

Slight water leak when showering , blind on window let light in as not a brilliant fit . ( we did sleep well though) not enough plugs - none at side of bed for chargers ect . On booking . Com it states breakfast in the room so I didn’t book it but then when I got there breakfast was served on a proper dining area - I would have prebooked if I knew this . Needs updating on the site . Also think parking should be included if you are staying ( at least for 1 car )

Very pleasantly surprised by how well presented the room was, and it was a very good size. Everything I needed and the value for money was fantastic! The cooked breakfast was lovely too (made to order). I liked the local area too, very close to the botanic gardens and quite peaceful to walk around (at least in the summer holidays!)

Old building so the corridors to the room were a bit maze like, and lots of stairs when carrying a case, but it also meant your "neighbours" were spread out, so I didn't mind. Early breakfast service was a bit patchy given it was prebooked but no issues really!

Always a solid stay here. Basic but clean and quiet, in a great location for city access and also to hospitals/universities.

Breakfast quite basic, even among basic breakfasts. Cooked breakfast doesn’t include toast…this must be prepared separately by guests. Single coffee machine stopped working early one morning and was unable to be repaired before end of breakfast service: not a problem in itself, but no replacement method of getting coffee meant a ‘dry’ breakfast that day!

Old fashioned building which I love....lots of character. Lovely natural features in the place. Spiral staircase, brick walls, wood panelling in our bedroom. Lots of different lights for ambiance. Modern shower, again, lovely stone-like tiles and flooring. Spacious, easy to use. Hot water. Pretty paved garden surrounding the hotel. Very quirky. Different entrances to the hotel made it interesting. Good breakfast, full English. Served quickly... and the best chocolate swirled croissants and almond ones. Friendly staff. Close to shops, café and restaurants.

There was a vending machine for hot drinks. I prefer a bar/lounge, but at least hot drinks were available! Had to pay for car parking. That's just an extra expense on top of your hotel cost. Easy parking though, found a spot, went away and still spaces when I returned.

We didn't have breakfast as we had to leave for daughters operation early and she was nil by mouth. Bed was very comfortable although they was a faint brown patch on the bed sheet. Room was just what we needed for a quick stop over.

Don't think the thermostat worked for the radiator, we had to turn it on manually but then couldn't turn it back down at bedtime as there was no indication as which was on and off.

I enjoyed the single room, it was a perfect size, very comfy and being able to have a tea or coffee whenever was also good. I would have liked to see a hot chocolate, but I did bring my own just in case. I also liked that being a solo woman traveller I felt safe in the hotel, although it is a bit of a warren. The breakfast was delicious and the lady in the restaurant area was very friendly. The lady on reception Holly, was such a nice, friendly and welcoming person. It was lovely when I came back in to be greeted by her.

The cost of the car parking I thought was a bit steep, especially as having paid, it was a struggle to park still because people do not know how to park their cars. Again this is not a problem with you but with other drivers.
