My wife and I stayed at Berggasthaus Eggberge for one magical night on August 13th, and it was an absolute delight from start to finish! The food was a true highlight creative, delicious, and expertly prepared. I enjoyed the warm salmon salad followed by the Wiener schnitzel, while my wife raved about the beef pie, declaring it the best she’s ever had! Our room was cosy, clean, and incredibly comfortable especially the pillows! Though we didn’t have a view of the Gitschen and Brunnistock mountains, the scenery from the back was still lovely and peaceful. The journey up via cable car added to the adventure, making the whole experience feel even more special. Andy and Gaby are exceptional hosts their passion and attention to detail shine through in every aspect, from the thoughtfully crafted menu to the welcoming atmosphere. We couldn’t have asked for a better stay and will cherish the memories. Highly recommend for anyone seeking a unique, relaxing, and delicious mountain retreat!

An amazing find! This lovely hotel is in an incredible location. It is quiet and remote, feeling much more authentic. Yet it is also easy to get to. The Altdorf area is our favorite in Switzerland. It is a hidden gem with lots of trails and views and few tourists. The hotel has lovely views, beautiful rooms, delicious food, and thoughtful owners. We loved many of the extra touches such as a tea/coffee maker in our room, and a screen on the windows. The food was the best we have had on our trip so far. And it was so peaceful. We loved wandering around, watching the cows, and enjoying the scenery. We will be back again.

I absolutely loved my overnight stay at Berggasthaus Eggberge. From the moment you step into the cable car up the moment, you’re literally being transported to a more serene, more peaceful and beautiful version of the world. The views are simply stunning, the staff and owners incredibly friendly. I also highly recommend Andy’s Brew, the owners very own beer. It’s delicious:) Wish I’d stayed a few more days to explore the beautiful surroundings.

Nothing I didn’t like, just a tip for fellow travelers. Parking at the cable car is very convenient, but I recommend using your own local parking app (like EasyPark) instead of the Swiss app (Twint) promoted on the parking booth. Twint doesn’t accept foreign cards, so wasted my time trying to get that to work.

A short sky car ride to paradise. Andy and Gaby were the perfect hosts, we couldn’t have asked for much more. All local and fresh food is provided in the restaurant. We were also shown where to explore during our stay whilst also accommodating a young child who loved his stay. Andy also helped us with Swiss/UK plug adapters that we did not have which we really appreciated.

We stayed here only for the one night but it was amazing experience. The owner of this hotel is very nice and friendly, the view on the mountains is gorgeous and the diner was so big that I’ve barely finished my dish. The hotel itself looks like it had renovations pretty recently (no mold in the bathroom or any kind of dirt on the walls etc.) Our room was super clean and cozy. Wonderful.

Everything. This is a rare and beautiful place- Gaby and Andy have poured their heart and soul into making this a relaxed, welcoming and special lace to stay. Excellent food, sustainably sourced and lovingly prepared. We will be back!

Nothing. Just be mindful that you cannot access the priority by car. You need to park at the cable car and catch this up abs down to reach the town etc. we loved this but it does limit how early or late you can arrive and leave.

The views are incredible, changing every ten minutes based on the clouds you could just look out the window all day. The owners were welcoming and friendly and it was interesting to hear their renovation story and to see all the work they've put into the place. The food was delicious, especially the lemongrass soup!

Exceeded all expectations! This place is completely magical!! So nice, new, clean, cozy, and welcoming. It was like being in a dream. The food is outstanding and the hospitality is wonderful. We hope to return!

Magical location only reachable by a short cable car ride from the town/road. Wonderful hosts, comfortable rooms and characterfully decorated hotel! Dinner was also fabulous. Would love to come back for a longer stay. Highly recommended.

Fantastic setting - beautiful decor and scrumptious food. The hosts were personable and clearly took care to make our stay (for a big birthday) a special one.

The flies from the cows, but not much to be done about that.
