Very clean in public areas and room was very tidy Only gripes I have is that the bathroom could do with a freshen up.. (shower controls were seized with limescale, lots of chipped paint on the taps and temperature controls) Bed had a large TV at the foot of the bed which was too close to the bed, we didn’t stay in the room much so wasn’t a huge issue but would be should you wish to stay in the room On the positive side tho… All the staff were extremely helpful, we paid for the anniversary package which included a lovely chocolate gateaux cake, Prosecco and a dozen roses which were beautiful Breakfast was fantastic with good quality ingredient’s, I certainly would stay here again but may ask for a different room as ours was located next to the ladies toilet by reception… not quite giving luxury vibes

We had a wonderful stay at The Abbey Hotel! The location is perfect — right in the heart of Bath and just a short walk from all the main attractions like Bath Abbey, the Roman Baths, and Pulteney Bridge. The hotel itself is beautifully decorated and spotless throughout. Our room was spacious, well-equipped, and incredibly comfortable — the bed and linens were so soft, we had the best night’s sleep. The staff were absolutely lovely — friendly, helpful, and always happy to go the extra mile. We were even given a complimentary room upgrade, which was such a nice surprise and made our stay even more special. Highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting Bath — we’ll definitely be back!

The only down side is parking is a short walk away but this is to be expected in a city

This hotle is a perfect location, and reslly high quality for the age of the building. Its only a few mi utes walk from most attractions and a straight route from the station. Nice breakfast, if a little on the pricier side for what is offered. I got a Complimentary upgrade to my room which was a lovely surprise. The room itself was very clean, spacious, and had good amenities. If you looked closely some of it was a little worn like the limescale on the toilet piping and a crooked chandelier, but nothing to detract from the overall stay. I had a lovely interaction with Charlie behind the bar who offered me a tester of a new cocktail he was working on for free, and was a lovely way to end out the evening.

The location of this property is fantastic for a stay in Bath. The staff were very diligent and friendly, especially the breakfast crew. The breakfast was excellent, the bed was comfortable, and the AC was very welcome on a warmer day.

I would love to give this property a 10/10 but my bathroom could have used a deeper cleaning- especially the bath mat and sink. Also- it’s quite a noisy location which I don’t mind the outdoor noice because that cannot be avoided in a city centre- however I did mind the paper thin walls- you can hear everything everyone is doing around you- so light sleepers beware!

Welcoming staff who were happy to keep our bags until our room was ready. We were upgraded to a suite amazingly which was huge! They had a lot of coach tour parties staying which may have been the reason for this - we were independent travellers and had paid the standard rate. Very convenient location 10 mins from station - but fairly noisy in the evening due to central location. Things did quieten down and we got to sleep.

Breakfast service was a shambles. Although we had been asked what time we wanted breakfast the day before, EVERYONE had arrived at the same time! The poor staff were really struggling to cope and there weren't enough seats. People on coach tours had to be ready by 9am and they were still waiting for cooked breakfast items at 8.50am. Very little choice of help yourself cereals, fruit etc. and bread for toast kept running out. Not a good impression for so many overseas visitors who were on a time schedule with coaches queuing outside to pick them up. It didn't matter so much for us but having to wait 20mins for our coffee wasn't good.

Overall: We stayed 3 nights at the Abbey Hotel, Bath and had a lovely time - I think the hotel is deserving of praise but there are some smallish points that should be mentioned. Hotel: Parts of it are being refurbished and some rooms looked a lot better than others. Single small lift is always very busy. Location: Could not be much better if it tried, everything seemed a short walk from the hotel. Room: Decor was OK but did look a little tired in places, bathroom looked to have some hasty and slightly untidy paint work around the bottom. Shower was good but the water did not drain very fast so the base filled up quite quickly, basin tap was a little loose in operation but did work. Room cleaning service was good, bed was a little softer than ours at home but provided good support, pillows were good. Room air conditioning was good but had to keep on low to avoid room being too cold. Walls seemed a little thin - as wife could hear snoring during the night. Staff: A credit too the Abbey or any hotel - lovely, helpful and efficient. Breakfast: A good hearty breakfast but the coffee was very strong though bland. Bar service & prices: Excellent service - bar staff were really helpful and made some excellent cocktails. Sadly there was not too much going on in terms of patrons of the bar itself. Prices seemed a little inflated for some drinks - especially wine but probably no more than in most tourist destinations. Would we recommend or stay again: Yes we would! Perhaps a little renovation needed but it is a lovely and welcoming destination.

Room perhaps a little small for the price paid, not much storage for clothes, no drawers for example. Paintwork / decorations could do with being tidier.

The location of the Hotel was superb close to everything. There was public car park just around the corner that you have to pay for separately. There are loading bays outside the Hotel, but were blocked with coaches when we arrived so we went to the car park first. We were greeted warmly and given our keys, however we were not told until we arrived that we would be in basement rooms in an Annex. Not great, as we wanted a room to see Bath and with an opening window. However we were going to the Spa so not planning to spend any length of time in the rooms. The rooms were very big and had all you could want. Weirdly the bathroom of my room was the size of a bedroom and had a window, you could not open that was obscured and looked out onto a courtyard. The bedroom had a small high obscured window with a curtain that did not open, so the room was totally dark. Not sure why the rooms were not configured in the opposite way. There was no outside sound which was good as there were coaches outside all the time. Personally I like a room with a window I can open and look out on. For one night it was bearable but I would not be able to do more than that.

Although we had asked if the rooms for my friend and I could be close together, this was not the case when we arrived as our rooms were on different floors. However, when we expressed our disappointment about this they were able to change rooms so that at least we were on the same floor. Breakfast was very good. As was the location of the hotel. We booked in for dinner on our first night but were not very impressed so found another restaurant, which was very good, for the rest of our stay.

Menu for dinner was rather limited. Starter (soup) and main course (fish & chips) were both brought at the same time. However at our request they took the fish & chips away until we had consumed the soup.

The hotel's in a very convenient location, just a few minutes' easy walk from the train station. Reception staff were friendly and welcoming. We arrived before check-in time but they looked after our luggage while we explored the city. Room was quite spacious and comfortable. Walk-in shower, robes and slippers. Breakfast was very good - a cold buffet choice and freshly cooked hot food efficiently served by waiting staff. On checking out, our luggage was stored again for a couple of hours - a much appreciated service. We would stay again.

Our only observation was that this is a lovely old building but the floorboards above the bedrooms creak when people move around. This can be a problem, depending on who is above you!

The location was fantastic - close to the middle of Bath - which meant most places we wanted to visit were within a short walking distance. The hotel staff were excellent. From the moment we booked in we felt welcome - all staff were courteous, friendly and extremely helpful. Their local knowledge was excellent. Two staff I would like to particularly thank were Receptionist - Maria and Breakfast Team - Sally. They both looked after us very well and made our holiday more enjoyable. The room we stayed in was very comfortable and spacious. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

There wasn't anything to dislike about the hotel. I would have found it helpful to have instructions how to work the coffee machine and air conditioning in the room.
