Staff and location were wonderful, rooms clean, comfy, and spacious. We were impressed with the CCTV 24 hours a day, ensuring all staff and guests were safe. We were given a history talk by one of the reception staff about Lady ashton and the history of the hotel. An added bonus that could be made into a 'leaflet' or added to your welcome booklet. Found it fascinating...any photos from the past would also be a welcome addition.

The oven/grill was tiny. A full sized oven would be good. Also the back gate was blowing about when we arrived and banging as it wouldn't close properly. We managed to prop it closed with a clothes rail that had been left outside for that purpose. It could do with being fixed properly. (We were in the ground floor flat)

I recently had an amazing time at the Royal Ashton Townhouse in Taunton. The staff were absolutely fantastic, super friendly and helpful, making check-in a breeze. The rooms are a bit basic, but they’re perfectly functional and it’s clear they’ve been recently refurbished—everything felt fresh and modern. But what really impressed me was how clean everything was! My room was spotless, and the bed was super comfy. The location is also great—it’s less than a 5-minute walk from Taunton Railway Station and only 10 minutes into the town centre on foot. For the price, it’s an absolute steal, especially compared to other options in the area. I’d definitely stay again!

Honestly, nothing — everything was really good from start to finish.

We stayed in the ground floor, 2 bed apartment. It's possibly the friendliest place I've ever stayed in. I dont think I've met friendlier or more helpful staff anywhere in England. They definitely go the extra mile. It's clean, warm and comfortable and reasonably priced. It's within walking distance of great places to shop, eat and drink. Turmeric Kitchen, across the road, is fabulous. Also within walking distance of the train station Buses stop outside the door. Taxis are pretty reliable. The town centre is a very pleasant 10 - 15 minutes walk away The Musgrove hospital is about 20 minutes walk too - if, like us, you're there for appointments. Taunton itself is a nice town. Lots going on and very nice people.

My sister and I came for two nights to celebrate my Auntie’s 90th birthday. We booked a twin room on the upper floor. However we were put in the Ground floor flat so we were spoilt for beds and it was very spacious. So close to our family’s property too

Although we appreciated the ground floor flat it was slightly concerning having a door from the bedroom onto a public place (even though locked) and a small garden area that had a gate to same area that wouldn’t stay bolted. We were fine but anyone afraid of intruders I suspect wouldn’t maybe sleep so soundly

Great location, just next to the train station and easy walking distance to the town centre. Loads of shops and restaurants very close by, including a big supermarket. Kitchen available with all that is necessary to eat and cook. Kettle in room with complementary tea and coffee. Very helpful staff and the possibility to leave luggage for a short duration before or after the stay.

The room could do with curtains as the blind allows a large chunk of the street to be visible from the bed and lets light in. Didn't stop me from sleeping though😁

Plenty of space in the flatlet. Lovely large TV and comfy sofa in the lounge. Very comfortable bed with plenty of towels. The place was very clean and simple. Basics like tea and coffee were provided and some milk pots in the fridge.

As just one person I didn't require much in the way of cooking equipment, but I did feel more modern equipment could have been provided in the flat especially if 4 people were staying there. I couldn't dry the equipment I used in the kitchen as no tea towel was provided.

Location is really good close to Taunton Station, staff were very helpful. to be honest value for money because they are a lot cheaper than other hotels in Taunton.

They can't do much about it but the the stairs up (2 flights) were hard work with bags and there is no lift. View from window pretty grim but hey, staff were good and it was cheap and cheerful.

+1. Location. Barely five minutes' walk downhill from the south entrance to Taunton railway station. The town centre is some ten minutes' level walk further south. +2. Friendly, welcoming, staff. +3. Room spic and span, containing everything guests need and well lit. +4. It was quiet, enabling sound nights' sleep.

+1. The hotel has made a conscious decision not to offer breakfast. +2. My room was quite small without a working surface for writing / using a computer.

The Royal Ashton Townhouse was ideally situated for me, being close to the station. My room (8) was quiet, clean, well equipped - and the bed was comfortable Each of the staff were welcoming and helpful. Thank you!

A few more basic supplies (ie a couple of biscuits.?) Although not essential … could a box of basic non-perishable breakfast ingredients be available for an extra charge? This could be helpful for those, like me, who chose not to go out to find a local cafe.

I have nothing negative to say, we knew there was no food, but the fridge was a welcome bonus. The hotel is halfway between the railway station and the cricket ground, and a 15 minute walk to the town centre. The staff were friendly, the room was clean and really good value for money. i recommend The Shed for breakfast if you can wait until after 9am, a ten minute walk from the hotel, and The Ale House for a decent pub grub (10% discount with a card) if you don’t mind sport and noisy music a Most next door. We will be back for sure, lovely accommodation and a quiet room.

Nothing, read the terms and decide for yourself. The hotel is halfway between the railway station and the cricket ground, and maybe half a mile or so from the town centre, so you need to accept you need to plan breakfast and meals elsewhere, each room has a fridge, and there are a few places nearby where you can buy food.
