Val was a wonderful host . Couldn't do enough for you. My father was unwell on our trip, but it didn't spoil our time staying there. Beautiful room , warm and cosy. Comfy Beds.Full tea tray fully stocked daily. Lovely Towels. Breakfast was amazing all local produce. Endless supply of tea and coffee. Val goes out of her way to make sure you have everything you need. She looked after us so well. All of the staff are very friendly and welcoming. We will definitely be staying there again. Can't wait to go back!! Thank you so much.

What an absolute gem of a guest house, I am so glad I chose to stay at The Old Manse, I would definitely stay again and highly recommend it. The location is perfect, it’s a short walk to the North Yorkshire Moors Railway Station and Pickering town centre. The room we had was lovely, everything you want, even air freshener in the bathroom, which you rarely get. It looked over the garden, we had the window open and we were treated to an owl hooting and the dawn chorus. Val and her team couldn’t have been more lovely and welcoming. Lots of choice for breakfast from kippers to full English, all was delicious. A massive thumbs up from us and thank you for a comfortable relaxing weekend

The location and parking were excellent - the NYMR Pickering Station is just 5 minutes walk away. The breakfast was served in the conservatory and was virtuously faithful to the positive reviews (enormous tea pots a hit). The rooms were spacious and clean - they'd actually been redecorated just weeks before our stay. Staff all friendly and knowledgeable. An experience at a good price. It's just how a small hotel should be run.

The shower flow wasn't great and this would extend your time rinsing hair products out. Also had to run the shower a good while before the hot water came through at 7pm. The reduced water pressure may be a symptom of being on the top floor and so close to the water tanks? Reported a few things that needed attention and the owners were happy to fix it. I guess that for disabled people, accessibility may be an issue in this old traditional house due to the stairs.

Valerie couldn't have done anymore for us, shortly after booking, and knowing we had two flights of stairs to our room, I asked if it was possible to have a ground floor room we got a reply to say unfortunately no. On arrival however, we found that thankfully she had managed to come up with one, thanks to a young student allowed us to use his room after cleaning etc. We will always be gtateful as two flights of stairs by crutches would probably been nigh on unattainable for a near 80 year old with a ruptured Achilles. Absolutely beautiful stay from letting me park my car still coming back after are stream train ride. Stay in room 6 which had Absolutely stunning views over pickering very comfortable and cosy and clean with everything you need always made welcome by the host breakfast 😀 to die for and you can pick what you want from the pre breakfast form friendly staff and friendly service delivered hot and quick. We love Valerie and would go back again and again xxxx

We were well looked after from start to finish. Everyone there was polite, friendly and attentive. They were eager to ensure that we had the best time possible. The room was all that was needed and the food was excellent.

The room was only accessible from outside the property, which was not ideal when it rained and the door had swollen with the damp, so it was difficult to open and close. There were not enough electrical sockets in easily accessible places. Obviously, in an older property like this one, it is not so easy to remedy this. Neither of these issues caused us any real problems.

Friendly, clean, comfortable, quiet location but near to town centre. Plenty of space for off-road parking. It had an old fashioned feel about it in a good way ie friendly and accommodating. The owner cared about her guests. We had a room with a good view of the garden and further afield. There was plenty of choice for breakfast. We particularly liked the fruit salad.

Can‘t think of anything that was a problem for us. Our room was up 2 floors. This could be a problem for someone with mobility issues

A very lovely lady who runs the place , and all the young girls and lady cleaners were very happy in there work and made us feel very welcome even when we got in their way . The rooms were spotless and linen fresh and smelt lovely , clean towels and face clothes everyday, great views from our back room windows. Smashing cooked breakfast in the morning with as much tea and coffee you could drink. Some great pubs in the town , Try the Bay Horse Inn, great beer and cider lovely people in their.Try the White Swan Inn up the hill, Black Swan turned us away for food because we were not staying with them, there loss, spent over 2 hundred quid in the White Swan Inn, great night lovely food.

I really cannot think of anything that was wrong with our stay and I would highly recommend THE OLD MANSE it was fab, we will be going back there next year when we get the dates for Bangers And Cash event at Scampton Hall in 2024. And a big thanks to everyone at the Bangers and Cash event especially the Mathewson family who made our trip to this beautiful part of the world so memorable, North Yorks we love you, and see you soon. Room was lovely. The evening meal, which we had pre-arranged was superb. We have stayed here several times and Val and her staff are very welcoming. The provision of tea and biscuits when we arrive is very welcome. Nothing is too much trouble.

The only problem we had was that the shower had very little power. Maybe a larger spray head would have helped, or possibly because we were at the top of the house the pressure was lower and it’s difficult to do anything about.

Great place to stay in Pickering, lovely informal atmosphere which is lead by the host who is lovely and really helpful. The licensed facility was stocked and well priced. Although we only stayed one night we would definitely return when staying in Pickering again. The

We didn’t have anything to dislike, the only change I would make is to have a little background music at breakfast, that’s only a personal preference.
