Location, location, location. A few mintue walk to the Matsumoto castle and everything else you would want to explore Matsumoto city. Room was pretty spacious and we were able to open our luggages out. Staff were so friendly as well. They were able to help us with sending our luggage to our next destination!

They were so kind. I booked the wrong day - somehow I booked the day before we actually arrived. But they very kindly let me stay for the night I needed and gave us an upgrade to a bigger room at no extra cost.

the hotel is situated close to everything you need in Matsumoto. The room was big and comfortable, the shower had really good water pressure and in general we enjoyed our stay!

The WiFi in the room was very weak, but that was the only thing.

Very centrally located near the castle and other walkable locations. Staff was helpful in arranging to forward our luggage to our next destination and making dinner reservations for us. They provide a useful restaurant list for guests.

It was all fine. Room was a bit small but we didn’t opt for the most expensive castle view room.

The location is unbeatable. The hotel is beautiful, the staff is exceptional and the breakfast was excellent. Incredible value for the money. Couldn't record it more.

Very close to the castle (like 5 minutes walk) and to the city centre (2 minutes to the river bridgeand the frog street). Friendly staff. Very clean room. Comfortable bed! Very high water pressure shower. Limited parking on site but possibility to park nearby (3 minutes walk max) via the hotel. We had a spacious room. Lots of restaurants nearby. Overall, it is a very good choice for a mini break in matsumoto!

When comparing with hotels of the same category booked during our trip across Japan, we felt that the room furniture is quite basic (same for the bathroom) and looks tired. Also, the maximum light setting at night does not give you much light (already mentioned in other reviews)....

The rooms were great, quite spacious. The location was very convenient to get anywhere in the city quickly. The staff was very friendly and helpful. We were able to store our luggage there at the day of departure until we were leaving. There was also a free water bottle which could be used to refill around the city.

The breakfast is a mix of asian and western but quite pricey for what you get. Also there were usually quite small portions available and one had to wait until it was refilled. Nevertheless a very nice place to have breakfast and again nice staff.

Matsumoto is quite a small town (at least the touristy parts) and this hotel is located a short walk from the train station and most places you are likely to visit. There are a bunch of restaurants around, but many of them seem to require reservations (ar just don't want English speaking tourists, considering that a few who turned me down were near empty). The area is dead quiet at night. The check in was a breeze thanks to Izumi and Saki who were both very helpful and spoke impeccable English. Even staff who didn't speak English (or were simply reluctant to do so) really went above and beyond to help. After having stayed in more modern looking hotels in Japan, the room interiors at Matsumoto were almost quaint which was nice for a change. It's also the only hotel I can think of which had an English manual for the remote controls for the TV and AC with buttons in Japanese, which is some lovely attention to detail. The bed was comfortable and the room of course impeccably clean. If I ever come back to Matsumoto there is no doubt that I'll stay here again. The quality in relation to the cost is amazing.
