The beds are massive and quite comfortable. The staff was super helpful and kind. The location is perfect — just on the side of the village center. It’s much more quiet yet walking distance from everything you may need (busy stops, food, konbini, bike rentals, boat piers etc.) The bathrooms were nice though a bit cold as they are in a kind of outside sheltered area. It only bothered us slightly on the first night though as it has been quite chilly. The overall vibe is quite nice and almost resorty. Great value for money. There’s a breakfast included. Nothing crazy, but it was quite tasty — some toast, fruit, and steamed veg plus drinks. The offered vegetarian options too Last plus for the cats.

I was going to score the place a bit higher but the walls are paper thin there and for me earplugs offered did nothing. We were in the middle room so we could hear everything from both bedrooms — from snoring, to chats, to YouTube videos being watched. People in our house didn’t respect the quiet hours, so we were forced to wake up with them at 6. Let’s say it wasn’t the most relaxing.

The room units are located in what looks like an absolutely lovely zen garden, complete with a little pond a two friendly cats 🙂 the environment was amazing. The room itself was very nice, cozy and comfortable. Breakfast was simple but tasty and they offer delivery to your room. You can buy tickets for the boat right at the reception, for a discounted price. They will also offer advice about what to see and do around the lake.

It is a bit further from the village, about 10 mins walk. You can take the route by the lake though, a bit longer but nicer than the main road. There was also a bell ringing fairly early in the morning - from the nearby temple I assume.

Really love the gardenlike area where the private rooms are located and how they are divided between cottagelike buildings. And there are lots of cute friendly cats wandering around there. Bed is big and comfy and the place is neatly clean. The young woman in the reception was so friendly and happy it was a pleasure, and we could lend books from the reception. It is a short walk away for lots of eating options, bike hire places and the lakeside walkway, and an amazing temple is almost across the street. Superb!

Some traffic noise from the road can be heard, earplugs useful.

Booked to stay one night with family, gave mum and dad the nice double room with view - the mattress is on the floor (wouldnt have booked this room for them if id have known) Booked the double bunk beds with my husband. The double with a view was loud, paper think walls could hear everything next door were staying and hear the insects very loud, and the temple in the morning. Don't think I've ever been in a room that I could hear so much outside noise, it left like being under a tent. The room was clean, and the shower was interesting. The breakfast was fantastic, given an option to have it in the room or lounge. The shared facilities were very nice in our bunk bed room and the noise was alot better than in my parents room although we could still hear every word the next door said. Location just a short walk from the Pier and we could drop our bags.

Very friendly staff who spoke good English. Great customer service - I got one of two nights refunded because my room was inspected by Government authorities during my stay. Yue Lake didn't have to refund but clearly thought it was the right thing to do. Free upgrade to double bed. Common area (I was in room M3) is comfortable with big sofa and big TV. Very good security. You can buy discounted boat and bicycle tickets. Healthy vegetarian breakfast included.

There wasn't anything to dislike! The room is small but the common areas are a good size. The shared 2 toilets 2 showers 2 basins are sort of outside but completely coverered. May be a little rustic looking for some people, but everything works including good hot water. It is a good value hostel in a tourist hotspot after all.

The staff’s excellent English proficiency and efficient check-in process made for a seamless experience. Their recommendations for local attractions, including those outside the city, were invaluable. The comfortable bed, clean and modern room, and pleasant bathroom with a provided fan ensured a comfortable stay. The picturesque garden view from the room added to the ambiance. Additionally, the convenient location, just 5 minutes from the station and 7 minutes from the city center, made exploring easy. The affordable nightly rate, coupled with the high quality of room and service, prompted me to extend my stay. Moreover, the offered breakfast was a delightful addition to the overall experience.

The receptionist was incredibly nice and provided tips + help with our plans for Sun Moon Lake. You can rent a bike for 100NTD, if you want to get around the island. The location was near to the pier and the main bus stop. Breakfast was prepared with much care, they even offered a vegetarian and vegan version. 😊

The hostel is directly by a temple, which starts ceremony with a gong at 6.30 in the morning. If you're looking to sleep longer than that, you should make sure you have earplugs with you. The room looked a bit down-trodden in parts, particularly the sofa area. The hostel has two floors, you'll only have a lake view if you're on the upper one.

Overall the hotel was great, especially at the price point. The staff were super friendly and helpful, and patiently answered our many questions about transportation. They even helped us to call the public bus company to make a reservation, which we didn't know we needed to do. The room itself was clean and comfortable as well. Bonus: there are three cats here :)

The location was 10min away from the main area, but it's still a walkable distance.

The room we booked was great. The window wall with the breakfast table in the room.

When we arrived they wanted to “upgrade” us to a bigger room. Sounds great. Except it wasn’t. The room had two double beds but no table or sofa. And it was in the back so no view anywhere. It turned out that they overbooked so we could have the room we booked only for one night and then we had to move to a smaller room. They did give us the lower rate for the second night. Rooms have very thin walls so you know when neighbors have a shower or go to the toilet. I could even hear them snoring. Also there was bad smell outside the ground floor room.

The room was nice and well decorated in Japanese style. Quiet and relaxing. Breakfast was nice, served from 8:30-9:30. Staff was friendly.

I expected to see the broader view of a lake as in the photo, but it was pretty covered by trees and some buildings. It was a bit inconvenient as a family walked from the bus station with big luggages to the hostel, but it would be fine for backpackers or youngers.
