Great Location, very Central to the City Center and Harbor. Very quiet rooms, nice pool and small good equipped gym. Great breakfast buffet. Tasty coffee variations, fresh fruits, cereals, different breads and croissants, cheese and ham, vegetables.

Morning at the hotel: Piano Player starts at 8am and you can hear it slightly in your room. It’s not heavy metal, so it’s nice wake up music. Breakfast: breakfast area appears very crowded because tables and chairs are too close to each other (to the neighbor tables) and towards the buffet. If a guest is going to take a plate ore bread, it may appear, that he’s almost sitting on your bosom. Parking: Explained parking fee in Q&A were not transparent upon our arrival. - underground parking off season hotel price: 12€/24h. Main season underground parking hotel price: 24€/24h. - recommendation: top up daily room fee to cover underground parking.

This hotel struck me as being very, very good at an often overlooked quality that seems lost in the noise of features, pricing, discounts, freebies, etc — Dona Aninhas is really good at being a hotel. The room temperature controls work perfectly, the shower works, housekeeping is outstanding, the breakfast covers all bases, the pianist knows his stuff, the staff leave you alone, the location is perfect for access to restaurants and the waterfront, and the soundproofing mostly works.

Once you get past the rather grim, unfriendly people at the front desk, the staff are really nice. (I urge you to tip the housekeeping crew.) The room fragrance machines in the public areas are overly aggressive. The atrium means that I could hear the bar and restaurant from my room — faintly. I could have used some shelves in the shower cubicle to keep my shampoo and other shower stuff

Dona Aninhas is probably the best hotel in every aspect, that we have stayed in, after travelling for many years. The friendly and helpful staff at reception and the restaurant, the wonderful, freshly prepared food, the carefully cleaned and refreshed rooms daily,and the beautiful playing of the pianist at breakfast made for a stay to remember. We would recommend half board as the dinner menu was varied and extremely tasty as well as excellent value for money. All in all, it is a wonderful hotel.

Good location although being in older part the street is very narrow. Pleasant staff. Breakfast was unique with a live pianist playing . A nice touch.Very comfortable public areas.Room was large, bed very comfortable, however there was no chair in the room although there is ample space. Like so many hotels, nowhere to unpack suitcase apart from some clothes hangers. Despite the size of the room only one suitcase rest. It’s a doubleheader room so why not have one each since there is nowhere else to put clothes. It’s frustrating.

Nothing to dislike

The hotel is truly beautiful, featuring lovely common areas and modern rooms. Its location is excellent, situated in the historical center of Viana. Breakfast offers abundant variety and is served in an elegant room, accompanied by live music, which greatly enhances the overall experience.

The staff seemed inadequately trained, which detracted from the overall experience. Our check-in process took more than 30 minutes, primarily due to the receptionist in glasses who was extremely slow and unprofessional, struggling to determine if the room was ready (check-in is from 14:00, and we arrived at 14:40). The breakfast area was overcrowded, with tables situated too close to one another and the food stations, causing guests to disturb each other while passing and selecting food. The shower lacked a curtain or glass partition, causing water to spill onto the floor and leave it wet. The experience of staying in this hotel had the potential to be magical if it weren't for the shortcomings of the employees and management.

The breakfast was great with a great piano player. The location was central to the old town with shops, restaurants, harbor, not far from the train and bus station, not far to the beach or to the ferry across to an amazing beach area. We rented a car and saw many areas around north Portugal using the great highway system and trains. Douro Valley Tour, Guimaraes, Parque Nacional da Penda-Geres, Lindoso, Porto, Braga, Pont de Lima, and Valenca were all great to visit from this central base. What we like was that Viana Do Castelo was clean, had a great central area, near the beaches, easy to drive in and out of, less touristy and great for hiking.

The beach was a little windy, cool and very large waves. This was great for walking, cycling and so on but not for going in the water. That is okay since there was a lot to visit, see, hike and do.

Hotel is fantastic! The staff was exceptional,they even ironed my dress for the wedding. Facilities were beautiful and unique,very beautifully decorated. The location is perfect,walking distance to the centre and the river. The room was lovely and clean. Breakfast was excellent,so much variety and accompanied by lovely and live piano music. I would definitely recommend this hotel and would definitely stay here again.

There wasn’t anything I didn’t like.

It was one of our nicest properties we stayed at on the whole Camino. The staff, 2 gentlemen on check in were so friendly and gracious. The room was stunning and so very comfortable! Location was amazingly close to all provisions. It felt very special!

The woman who checked us out was so very unfriendly and quite rude. It was the only thing we didn't like about our stay. Unfortunately we were sad to have to leave this in the review but she was not professional like everyone else.

We liked everything about our stay at this hotel. The super smooth check-in was effortless, the facilities available, the quick responding and kind staff. The serving breakfast was high quality with many options, and with a really good and satisfying live pianist playing. The location is great with walking distance to several great restaurants and museums. We would be happy to return here and we would definitely recommend Dona Aninhas to friends.

Perhaps some cleaning in the shower but otherwise everything was clean and top notch.
