LaTonarella was our most memorable stay during our trip! It was so charming with beautiful views of the Mediterranean Sea and you could see Mt Vesuvius across the water, It was beautiful in the morning. The hotel was so charming in every way from the beautiful decor, which was traditional with beautiful woods and the upholstery was modern and new. There was an elevator and nature walk down to the beach that was indescribably picturesque. We had dinner in the restaurant the first night and it was one of the best meals we enjoyed on our two-week trip. The hotel staff was so helpful with all of our needs. And a great plus was the location. We had a 10 minute walk down into the city center each night. The street was well lit to be able to walk back to the hotel as the sun was setting.

We had a wonderful stay at La Tonarella, the staff are lovely and really helpful. Our room had a panoramic view of the ocean and of Sorrento (the location is about 15-20min walk along the cliff from the main area of Sorrento, views are amazing). The breakfast was delicious and again, with amazing views! There is a restaurant up on the terrace, and although we didn't have time to eat there, it looked like a great experience. The bed was really comfy in our room and we slept well with the air conditioning on. There is USB C/regular USB ports which I found really convenient. There is a private beach accessed by a lift down, which was quiet and cheaper to rent the loungers than in the main town, there is a bar serving drinks and snacks too. I would highly recommend this hotel if you want a traditional Italian feel with spectacular views!

This is an old hotel so things are never going to be perfect, the shower didn't drain very fast and filled up with water quickly. But other than that the room was great. It was quite difficult to swim at the private beach due to the big stones leading down to the water, and it was quite choppy. I enjoyed it much more at Leonelli's beach as it was easier to swim and there was loads of food and drink options. Be prepared for an expensive taxi to/from the train station or ferry port. It's €30/€35 one way and the drive is about 8mins, more than double what we paid in Rome and Naples

Such a beautiful, unique hotel experience! We stayed in the room with the wrap around balcony and we never wanted to leave the hotel. It was truly an unforgettable stay. Amazing breakfast in the mornings with plenty of options and a stunning view. Everywhere you go in this hotel the views are breathtaking. Staff are super friendly! Would definitely return.

We went during off season in March so the hotel restaurant was not open. The walk to the main area of sorrento where there are a lot of restaurants is about a 15min downhill. The view is amazing the entire time so it doesn’t feel like a huge burden. The only downside was my husband had hurt his foot earlier in the trip so we had to take a taxi up and down a couple times which was quite pricy! 30 euros one way!! No fault of the hotel just FYI in case you’re unable to walk far distances

It’s position and views from everywhere, parking, restaurant and breakfast. Room was a bit small but had a blacony. We had a seaview room and were looking back on sorrento with chairs and table to enjoy the view. Just watching the comings and goings of boats was a pleasure. The terrace restaurant was outstanding the best meal we had in Italy. The lift to the beach is good, the beach is a little bit wavy because it is not in a protected cove, and the pebbles were a bit tricky. Discount for lounges at the beach and a lovely little restaurant.

It’s absolutely stunning and completely unique and charming. Our room was fabulous. I couldn’t even tell how great it was from the pictures. The bathroom is OUTSTANDING! And the views and little balconies are too die for. The breakfast and staff were also fantastic.

That one step I always tripped on going down to my room, ha! It’s a bit of a walk to the main area but I really didn’t mind. It’s good to walk when you’re there. Our room had a lovely little green area with beautiful trees but it was a bit overgrown if I’m being picky.

We loved the scenic views, the traditional colorful decor and charm of this lovely property. The staff were wonderful & helpful especially: Annalise, Luigi & Genaro. Having daily breakfast in the dining room with the breathtaking views was terrific. The outdoor spaces are really nice as well. What needs vast attention & improvement is the bed mattress. It was hard, old and very uncomfortable for the daily cost to stay here. I would also recommend buying new softer fluffier bath towels for the comfort of your guests. Doing these 2 important things would make this jewel of a hotel earn 5 stars!

The room #13 that was assigned to us did not meet the height requirement for a person taller than 5'3", particularly the bathroom, since it did not have a shower and the bathtub was difficult to access. Also in the case of my husband who suffers from a health condition that does not allow him to bathe in a bathtub. I took the situation to the reception but they could not resolve it until the next day. We stayed in the room since my husband's brother was in the next room and allowed him to bathe. I repeat, room #13 is for guests of short stature, who do not want to shower and who do not have limiting health conditions.

Friendly, accommodating staff. Breathtaking view from large private terrace. Luxurious breakfast buffet with outdoor option. Lovely antiques and ceramics give the property a local, intimate feel.

The walk into town was scenic and short, but harrowing because of the narrow sidewalk and racing traffic. A shuttle would have been much appreciated.

We absolutely loved this place. Our 5 nights there were probably our most special of our 5 weeks in Italy. Our room was spacious and full of character and opened onto our own huge deck (40m2 we reckon) with views across Napoli bay to Naples, Vesuvius and Pompeii and the full length of Sorrento town. A fantastic place to relax, sub bathe and watch the hundreds of boats doing their thing. The restaurant (open air) had the same views and really good food. The staff were super friendly. And the private beach with cafe was beautiful. It was an easy 10 minute walk to the main street and restaurants/shopping which we enjoyed. Totally recommend La Tonnarella.

Nothing at all

great location with nice views, breakfast was nice with good amount of choices. the room was kept tidy and the hotel staff was very accommodation letting us sitting in for a drink out of the usual lunch-dinner times.

bare in mind you have to pay extra for omelettes and French toasts and pancakes 8-10€ each and fresh orange juice (6€) if you choose that for breakfast. there were other options so we didn’t go for the extras. they also have a private beach that you meet to pay l 32€ for 2 people for a whole day. this is the same as in sorrento, Wi-Fi was unfortunately password protected and not available at the beach and whilst we were there people with their kayaks arrived to the private beach taking it nearly over and there was no staff around to ask them to leave. we also found the bed was a little too hard as other guests said before. it was a little hard to find the reception when we arrived as there are two entries to the hotel.
