Location amazing for our wedding, breakfast nice although we had to keep waiting for extras as we had a lot of people staying. Our wedding venue was great and most of the staff were lovely.

The bedrooms were clean and spacious but the bed and pillows a bit firm for my liking. Could do with a bit of TLC in places but liked the character of the building. Had one problem with bar staff on the evening do being rude to a member of my wedding party, and a but of lack in communication regarding the remainder of our wedding cake being thrown away after we told them we would like to keep it!

Beautiful setting in a lovely old country house. Liked that it’s dog friendly. Friendly and helpful staff. Lovely breakfast.

We liked the fact that the property is dog friendly however we decided to eat at the property in the evening but as dogs are not allowed in the restaurant we had to eat in the bar or the drawing room which in itself is ok. However there are no proper tables to sit at and we had to eat our food on a very low bar table sat in lounge chairs. This was the same for breakfast which we had in the drawing room but this was ok. Dinner was more difficult. Maybe a couple of proper tables could be provided for those with dogs.

The location was perfect. Lovely and quiet. Great for parking. We had booked a table in the restaurant before our arrival, and the 3-course meal we had was delicious. The bed was comfortable, and we slept well. The fan in the bathroom worked well and the mirror didn't mist up. We went for a walk before breakfast, which was very pleasant. The breakfast room was delightful and had a great layout of food on offer. The cooked breakfast was probably one of the best that I've ever had in a hotel. We'd stay again if we're down here.

Our room was OK. However, it could do with being updated and refreshed as it was a little 'tired'. The lighting wasn't brilliant. The bathroom was again a little tired and needed some TLC. The shower was a bit tricky to operate as the temperature gauge wasn't great. The water was coming out of both the tap and shower head simultaneously but at different temperatures!

I was apprehensive after reading earlier reviews - however, I was pleasantly surprised. Yes the rooms are dated and need a refresh but this is a beautiful old building not a modern 5* hotel. The setting is stunning, the staff are a delight, the level of dog friendliness is amazing and the breakfast outstanding and most definitely not cold. All in all the perfect pit stop en route home from Cornwall.

We attended a friend's wedding here yesterday and what a beautiful day was had by all! The grounds are amazing, the food outstanding and while other reviewers have stated the rooms are dated, this didn't bother us in the slightest. Yes they are a little dated, but they were clean, comfortable and functional. All the facilities were good. Big mention to all the staff - they were so helpful and friendly, they couldn't do enough. So yes, if I'm ever in the area again, I would stay here 🙂

The room was absolutely beautiful and in a fantastic setting. The sofas were very comfortable. Lots of space in the room to store clothes etc. the staff were so helpful and friendly.

There seemed to be an issue with noisy plumbing. Several times during the night I was woken by someone else either flushing their chain or running a tap. The noise in our room was very loud. The breakfast was a a bit cold and lots of things were missing and we had to ask for them. It might be good to have someone keep an eye on the levels of bread, hot water etc. It is a not a cheap breakfast so perhaps it could be improved. The pillows were somewhat lumpy … and all different.

Very peaceful yet accessible for Bristol if you don't want to stay in the centre. We have stayed several times...comfortable room and nice bar etc Good breakfast It is an old house which we like ...a little tired in the bathroom but stil absolutely fine and very clean. Good value for the price especially compared with other central Bristol hotels We enjoyed our stay and will certainly stay again There was a wedding going on but we asked for and were given a room far away which was perfectly quiet Ample easy parking

Bathroom could be refreshed a bit but clean

We liked the location and the building. The staff were friendly. The room was nice and dark. Many hotel rooms are too light for us.

The heating was on and it was too hot overnight. We didn't realise the radiator was hot until the morning after we'd sweated most of the night. We had the window open all night too. We do understand it is a funny time of year to know when to turn the heating down or off, but it meant we didn't have a good night's sleep which was disappointing.

The property was great, there was lots of room for my grandchildren to run around on the grass area.. Rooms were spacious too. The lounge area downstairs was great to enjoy a coffee and relax.. Breakfast was perfect and a great selection. We were comfortable and the staff were very polite and welcoming. We would definitely stay again and recommend this hotel to anyone wanting to have some quiet time.

What I didn’t like was not staying as long as I wanted to…

Room good size Bed comfortable Bathroom clean and a realistic size Good facilities Breakfast excellent We also had an evening meal which was lovely but service was distracted due to an event being staged at the hotel.

Room very hot when we arrived Tried to turn radiator off and I could not Turned down completely and no change so before we left I returned to original settings so the staff would realise it was to warm. We were leaving early and had little time to report. Receptionist was busy when leaving
