Location is very good, just outside of Egilsstaðir, on the lake - nice, quiet and easy to find. Kitchen well equipped. Beds are comfortable and nice to sleep. Room was big and cosy and had our own bathroom.

No staff around. Last morning we were there power went off in whole object and alarm device was beeping because of that. After half an hour or so that no one from staff showed up, we managed to fix it ourself. Also, it is overpriced - same price level as some 3 star hotel in capital city. Maybe it's because of time period we booked (holiday weekend) but even in that case still...

Excellent location for our three night stay if you have a car. The centre of town is a 5 minute's drive away. Our room was a good size for a double room, including two chairs, a small table and an extra desk. Very comfortable beds, with excellent blackout curtains, which are imperative if staying in the summer, where it just does not get dark at all. The common area dining room and kitchen were immaculate and wonderfully stocked with everything you'd need to self cater. Complimentary coffee and tea available all day/night. We'll definitely be back and base ourselves here again, as there is just so much more to see and do. Our hostess was accommodating when I requested more of something, and the cleaner was efficient and friendly. An all-round great stay. Ticked all our boxes.

Getting to access the entry door key was tricky. We followed the clear instructions sent to us but we somehow had difficulty "pulling up" the box as required. Other arriving guests had the same problem so I let them in. Might just need a drop of oil, not sure!!

Great location, very easy to get into and out of Egilstadir. The guesthouse had a communal kitchen which is very useful. All the common spaces (including the kitchen) were very clean which is not necessarily the case in other such accommodations.

Americans should be aware that the twin beds are European-sized so they are a few inches less wide. Also there are adequate mattresses and pillows so you will recover from a long day but not necessarily wake up completely rejuvenated. The bathroom is a little small.

It was one of the best places we stayed in during our vacation. The place is incredibly clean, including rooms and shared spaces. Rooms are spacious and cozy, the beds are super soft. The kitchen was equipped with everything for comfortable cooking, you literally can cook anything you like at this kitchen. Every detail in this guesthouse has been carefully considered. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!!

We liked everything

This is a great place to stay. The kitchen is large and well equipped, the common room offers enough space for all guests, you have your own private bathroom and everything is well kept and clean. From the guesthouse you have a lot of possibilities to visit the eastfjords and it‘s only five minutes drive to the Vök Baths.

The entire place is amazing! The kitchen is fully equipped, plenty tables to seat and tea/coffee available all the time. The bedroom size is great, you can easily fit all your stuff. The cleaner staff is super attentive and helpful. The location is also good, nearby the airport and on the way for some waterfalls trekking.

Great location, just a few minutes drive from both the town and from the beautiful Vok baths. The small but well-stocked kitchen was great for preparing dinner and we enjoyed the communal dining area too. Rooms are spacious.

Room smelled very strongly of cleaning products - no bad thing but it was a little overpowering!

Friendly helpful owners. Very clean, spacious rooms, kitchen, and eating area. Comfy bed. Big shared kitchen with everthing you need to make your meals. Everything is perfect. There is nothing lacking. Home away from home feeling. One of the best places we stayed at on our 16-day road trip around Iceland. Wish we could have stayed here longer. Price is very reasonable compared to others we stayed at. Highly recommend Skipalaekur Guesthouse! Surrounding area is peaceful and serene.

Nothing!

We basically only slept at the place - we came late and left early. Room was spacious enough, simply equipped with double bed, 2chairs, small desk and wardrobe. Bathroom was clean, pretty small but enough for what we needed. Parking right in front of the main door, enough places when we were there (Oct2023). Kitchen is well equipped, I guess you can find everything you might need to cook a simple meal.

The shared kitchen is new and equipped with everything we need to cook. The dining area has enough space for everyone to sit in and enjoy the meal there. The self check in and check out process is great. There is a storm throughout the night, but we feel safe and comfortable in the guesthouse. The chocolate powder is sweet. We enjoy our stay there.

It will be great if slippers provided, so we can wear it in dining room and kitchen.
