This is a lovely hotel with an ‘old school’ elegance. The pool area is really nice and huge, plenty of space. The breakfast was a particular favourite with the children. We played golf everyday - resort course a little rougher around the edges Championship course very good especially for the money - back nine in particular are very pretty. Overall a good challenge especially off the white tees but playable further forward which was good as we had different levels. Staff all very lovely and polite. Some areas could do with a little freshen up but overall we loved our stay and again found it really good value…

Penina Resort is a charming place, with friendly staff and for sure its a true golfers paradise. Staff are very professional and friendly Breakfast are really nice to start of the day. This hotel has a great history and holds several interesting antique artefacts : - Probably its crown jewel is the Sir Henry Cotton designed championship golf course, 1st golf courses build in the Algarve, very challenging design, mostly par 4s and 5s. - Queen Amelia's piano - King Edward VII’s Snooker Table, which you can actually play on ;-) among others.

Hotel needs some renovations but should try to keep its original charm which is what makes its unique.

Still a nice hotel with good selection of restaurants and services as well as top golf course.Staff very pleasant, helpful and welcoming. Good views from second floor. Grill restaurant is top class.

Although September temperatures outside where very warm and sunny. North facing mountain view rooms in mid to late September were surprisingly cold. Air conditioning turned off and balcony doors closed or open made very little difference. Too soon for heating. To be honest would definitely stay again but it is a hotel that is looking a little tired. No mirrors in bedroom only in bathroom.

Flexible and supportive in restaurant and breakfast room to food intolerances

the 2nd cut of the grass on the golfcourse was so high that you would lose your ball which is not normal for a 2nd cut.

Back after 45 years...didn't remember that much as I was 16 then but...Penina still going strong! Seems that the hotel did not change too much. Opened in 1966 but well maintained! We loved it. Very good breakfast, friendly staff. Thanks for the provided service by shuttle bus to the beach!!

My room with a pool view was good on hindsight should’ve booked a twin bed room as they are slightly larger not much to dislike overall

The staff were very friendly throughout the hotel and I he golf pro was knowledgeable and patient! The food was lovely and fresh and well presented.

The hotel building is a little bit tired in places so needs some investment to bring it up to scratch

Staff were lovely it just felt like there weren’t enough of them. I’m sure they have problems hiring but all of the people who do work there are lovely. Breakfast could not have been better!

Service could have been faster but they were all excellent. Some things are a bit pricey for Portugal (compared to other areas)

Airconditioning in the room could have been better as well wifi connection. Wifi was excellent in public areas
