We stayed in the superior double room with our dog. It was handy having a door to the garden for her. The room was lovely and very clean. There is plenty of room for the dog bed, too. Breakfast was delicious. With plenty of choice. Staff are all very nice. Grounds are beautiful with walks for the dog. Would definitely stay again.

We had a sandwich when we arrived in the evening after a long day travelling. But it wasn't very nice... really thin, dry, brown bread which had processed thin slice of cheese and no butter, which cost £8.50! But then breakfast the next morning was excellent. We could only eat breakfast in the bar with our dog, which was fine, but it was a bit of a walk to the breakfast room.

Absolutely stunning place! I thought it was hotel rooms but it's actually kind of little terraced bungalows which is nice because you don't get the noise of footsteps up and down the corridor all night, instead a stunning view into the gardens! The room was clean and comfortable, with a good selection of teas coffees etc. and included an iron and hair dryer too! We didn't get chance to use the gym/pool/sauna facilities unfortunately but definitely be rebooking in the future and trying these out. The buffet breakfast was delicious with a selection of hot food and fresh fruit and yogurt with the usual toast/muffin/croissant selection. The staff were lovely and couldn't do enough to help, they were so polite and really make you feel welcome, they have a way of making you feel special during your stay. it was a very pleasant surprise as I booked this hotel very last minute at a price cheaper than most budget hotels.

The breakfast served was lovely but a vegetarian option of hot food would have been amazing. I didn't request this specifically but it would have been nice for it to have been an option.

Lovely main buildings and grounds. Plenty of parking. Didn’t have time to visit the leisure centre. Very good breakfast. Had an issue with radiator valve jammed on high and blasting full heat all night when it was already hot, but once reported to reception next morning, maintenance were on it before we’d even finished our breakfast and it was all sorted by the time we came back after a day out. Staff really attentive and cheerful.

Room needs some refurbishment - paint peeling off parts of ceiling in our bedroom and particularly on lower part of the back of the bathroom door with paint chips on floor each day.

The main building where we had breakfast and dinner was old and interesting and the surrounding gardens were lovely. The breakfast was very good - all self-service and lots of choice. The swimming pool and gym etc were free to use for guests.

Because of the heatwave at the time we stayed it would have been good to have air conditioning. However, there was an efficient portable fan in the room. Given how characterful the main building was the chalet-type room was rather boring. There could have been a more plentiful and varied supply of teabags etc.

The breakfast was ok. There were no vegetarian options. There were no teapots or teabags we had to ask for tea and it took a long time arriving. The setting was excellent, the greek yogurt was the best I've ever had. Staff were friendly.

Accessibility could be better signposted. A gardener had to show us a wheelchair friendly route to the dining room, and one of the doors was locked so he had to go round and unlock it. There were unexpected and unnecessary steps at the end of the accommodation blocked and I had specifically asked for an accessible room.

The room and the bed were clean, spacious and comfortable. The location was great for the Wickham Festival, being a 15 minute walk or short bike ride away. The full English breakfasts were well cooked with nice ingredients. The hotel itself is in a beautiful quiet setting.

The wifi at the hotel was weak in the rooms and in the dining area and needs improvement. Our toilet flush was equally weak :-( There could have been more imagination applied to the breakfast menu :-)

Attractive main building and grounds. The interior decor and furnishings in the room were comfortable and in good condition.

We had a room on an upper floor accessed via a convoluted interior corridor which was not so good and also not well signposted to the number range. We would have preferred a ground floor room opening to outside (one of the ones with french windows onto a grass courtyard) in retrospect. No air conditioning and window didn’t open much so it was warm and humid. Smell of chlorine in some corridors.

Excellent ‘Murder Event’ including 3 course dinner. Make sure you’re ‘set up’ to charge bar bills etc. to your account when you check in if that’s how you want to pay. It’ll save a walk back to reception. The staff were cheerful, the entertainment was great and the food was excellent. The room was nice and warm (it was a very cold night) and comfortable.

Breakfast was a little confusing, the norm in hotels is usually to ask whether you want tea or coffee when you arrive, here you seem to have to ask for it, oh, and teaspoons too! Breakfast was ‘self service’ and acceptable although fried eggs are never as nice when pre cooked and kept warm.

Lovely receptionists, very helpful and kind. The room was very clean and well equipped and the bed was comfortable. The staff could not have been more helpful and the venue is stunning, the house itself is really quite a spectacle. The interior of the house is also amazing to see, so many ornate features, beautiful paintings and so much history. The rooms themselves are quite bog standard hotel rooms but they are fit for purpose and perfectly acceptable for the amount of money that I paid. I would not hesitate to stay here again. The leisure center is an added bonus, it is not particularly plush, but it was a welcome relief after a long drive. Great breakfast too!

The taste of the tap water 💦💦💦🤣

Absolute steal of a deal!! The hotel had huge grounds which included a cricket pitch, croquet lawn, adventure area and a woodland trail!! Happened upon this by accident as needed a last minute stay for work and was extremely happy. The leisure facilities were okay, sauna was a bit snug, but otherwise a pleasant bonus 😁 staff were really friendly and helpful and the room I stayed in was big, with a nice bathroom

Because the grounds are so nice, locals come for walks and use the parking spaces for people staying at the hotel which was not appreciated when having to lug heavy suitcases as a solo 5ft2 traveller
