The location couldn't be more convenient to I-40 and businesses in Amarillo. The staff is welcoming, friendly, and accommodating. The motel is decorated as an old Western stagecoach town and is an experience just to see it and the restaurant next door is something right out of "Rawhide" with wonderful people and great food. The rooms aren't fancy but they're clean, comfortable, with great water pressure, TV, & Wi-Fi. If you have a service dog, the Big Texan Motel is probably the most pet friendly place I've ever stayed at and our dog even accompanied us into the restaurant too! We were very pleased!

Not much really. We had a ground floor room, and I don't believe we would enjoy the steel stairs to the upper rooms

Handy location which was easy to access from the Interstate. Loved the Western theme exterior and inside in the rooms. Double Deluxe rooms spacious and with parking right outside the door (note: if you have mobility issues the rooms on the top level are accessed via a staircase). White noise machines and USB plugs provided: the former useful to combat noise from I-40. Quick walk to the Big Texan Steak House which was great fun, but huge portions for Brits!(reservations can be made on Open Table - but walk-ins are also accepted, although you might have to wait for a table). Mary in the office was very helpful.

Nothing

The room was very clean. The shower had nice water pressure. The beds were decently comfy. The check in and out was really easy and all digital. There was an adequate amount of outlets, lots of tv channels and nice private windows. Inside the room was a nice experience.

I opted for the $10 cheaper room that wasn't "updated". Next time I would definitely make the other choice. (assuming they have redone the stairs). These bad boys are hidden over by where they put their horses up at the horse hotel. The worst parts for me were the really unsteady feeling rusty stairs to the room upstairs, and the fact that there's little close parking. I don't think this would matter as much to someone younger and fully healthy, but it was a little rough for me. I really don't think that second to top stair is safe, specially for anyone packing a few extra pounds or carrying a child. I was very nervous.

The room was roomy and comfortable. I liked the theme and that i could just walk next door for food. The theme of the room was comfortable, too, like a modern barn house. And I really appreciate that i could use a code instead of having to remember to bring a key card with me. And there was a dog park, which was nice to have, though it was a bit small. They also extended my stay until noon, with no extra cost, when my dog got out.

There was a little bit of water damage in the bathroom ceiling, and the wood bathroom door was splitting a bit at the bottom. Maybe some maintenance issue? Also, one of the lamps was missing the cover for the switch.

Restaurant was amazing, everyone there was great and the food was beyond expectations. The hotel was clean and much nicer than anticipated for it's age. Beds were comfortable and the themes were super cute... I really liked the saloon doors to the bathroom, they made me smile.

The outside stairs going to the rooms had some issues and need a lot of love. We were concerned taking our dog up and down them for fear she'd injure herself. The pool was out of service while we were there which was more unsightly than inconvenient. Noise levels were high, traffic all night long outside and someone blowing sidewalks at 7am... rooms are not very sound proof.

This is part of the Big Texan Steakhouse complex. EVERYONE should go to the Big Texas Steakhouse at least once in their lifetime. It's amazing! We received our room assignment and door code by text before we arrived. Bed was comfortable. Bathroom facilities were good. It's easy to find and a good location for exploring Amarillo. We usually just spend one night in Amarillo on our way to Colorado Springs, but we spent two nights so we could go see the Texas Outdoor Musical at Palo Verde Canyon (another must see). If you like Western decor, this is the place for you.

Window had only a rolling shade so it didn't block out light from around the edges. AC was loud, but that seemed to be a common theme on this trip. There never seems to be anyone in the office. Check out was also by text, which I didn't mind.

Close to Big Texan Steakhouse which was fantastic. Eclectic furnishing, loved the saloon door in the room (although walls are thin and could hear next doors!). But the decor overall was fun and accessing the room was easy. Cool place to stay overall despite negative reviews about being close to a highway etc. It was but didn't affect anything. Great shower and free toiletries. Also very clean.

Coffee machine didn't work. Cleaner didn't come until around 15.30 and we'd already returned to the room so we didn't benefit. Beds were very hard but nice fluffy pillows.

This is a great place to stay. It's clean and the lady at the front desk was extremely friendly and helpful. The room was good and everything worked! I think each room is unique, which is quite special and the way they have themed the whole place is a lot of fun. Unfortunately we got there too late and left too early to take advantage of the Tezas-shaped pool. Maybe next time! Having the huge steakhouse with it's excellent food right there on the doorstep is a definite bonus. If you're just passing through Amarillo, I would highly recommend this place for an instant Texas fix! The gift shop is worth a visit too.

Only one thing... The a/c unit in the room was very noisy, although perhaps it drowned out the noise of the Interstate!

The motel was very clean and the decor was western themed which was pretty cool, parking lot was well lit and the shutters kept out the light so we slept well. The cable package was great and the TV was a nice touch. Coffee was available in the room and the lollipops were a nice touch. Check in and check out was very simple and done completely over text message.

The lobby is locked and no staff visible on site. There is no place to grab breakfast or snacks, the restaurant doesn't open until 10:00am and the lobby was closed so there was no hot coffee, etc. There might've been vending machines but didn't see any it appears like the hotel is managed remotely.

I liked that it was right across from the restaurant and that it was colorful and fun. It was definitely a road trip type place to stay and we enjoyed going to the restaurant and store across the parking lot.

I didn't like that there was no "Do Not Disturb" signs to put on the doors. This caused the staff to try to get into our room when I was sleeping after having arrived at 3:00 a.m. This was not okay and I'm just glad I had all my locks on the door.
